Strangely enough, while I love slasher and horror films, I don't generally play horror games. Aside from...you know...F13...otherwise I'd share as well.

My horror games in my collection are just Blood, Blood 2, the DOOM remake and Clive Barker's Undying.

The first Blood was a nice nod to old school horror with various easter eggs. There were also monsters to fight, a sarcastic protagonist and very creepy moments. It was the first time I saw a bunch of strung up dead bodies in a video game. It was a game set in retroactive times. The first one is in 1928 but there are also charges with remotes, tesla guns and napalm launchers.

The second Blood went a century later in a Blade Runner style where you're fighting creatures from another dimensions, a complete 180 where it took several bullets to kill someone.

The DOOM remake is awesome. It's a nice break from the saturated Call of Duty games and no reloads. It's just shooting up demons with a double barreled shotgun and a BFG.

With Undying, there's something about Clive's writing that makes me read his works again and again. The story was interesting and the weapons were neat as well.

Ugh... I have over 300 on my Steam account... around 15 on discs and about 30 for PS2... not sure if I want to make a list because I would see how many of them I haven't played yet :-/

Exactly! I blame Steam sales for this... I see a game that *might* interest me, but I have no time to actually play it. And when I do have the precious little time, I rather fire up RE7 or some other game I was looking forward to for a long time.

Arkham Horror Board game

Hey SCREWNUT, that's the one where you have to stop the eldritch abomination from coming to our world, or stop it if it gets here, right?

A few questions if so:

1. Has Azathoth ruined your day?

2. Do you enjoy the game?

3. How hard is it to catch new players up to speed?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, I've considered trying to track it down as a beer and pretzels setting for game night.

Currently loaded in steam I've only got Alien Isolation and Dying Light. After playing the f13 beta I've been kinda dead in the water. No other game has grabbed my interest lol. I do have SW battlefront which with all the hacking could be considered horror.

Yes.  Except it's to stop the old ones from coming into Akrham.  Eldritch Horror is the same game but instead of Arkham, it's the whole world.  I'll post pics of the two games below.  I don't own Eldritch Horror cause to me, there's not enough of a difference between both games for me.

1.  Yes he has.  In Arkham horror, when he awakes...you all die.  You don't get to even fight him.  The world just gets eaten.

2.  Yes.  I do.  If I didn't, it wouldn't be in my collection.  Ha ha.  I only keep games that I will enjoy over and over again.

3.  Not hard at all.  That's the beauty of board games like this one.  It's co-operative play.  Meaning that it's you and all your friends against the board.  The board plays against you.  It's scary sometimes.   It doesn't need an app to do this.  It's all based on the cards you draw and what happens if you let monsters roam the streets too long.

Any other questions bud?  :)

Ok, it is the game I was thinking of, and different iterations from the look.

1. I was tracking. I found it cool that if he was the secret monster chosen for play that it was "Rocks fall, everybody dies."

2. Cool.  Some folks may keep mediocre games on hand since they paid for them.

3. Good stuff. To be frank, some of my pals are idiots. Great people but small attention spans and shitastic memory. Depending on the learning curve it may have been a slog to teach them.

Guess I'll put it on my que.

As far as questions, none offhand though if you had any cool anecdotes you wanted to share, I'd be interested in.

I trade away my mediocre or games that don't "fit" within my gaming club on a site called "Boardgamegeeks".  I recommend you sign up (it's free) plus you can search games, post and talk about games and meet with game developers.  It's a great site!

I love Arkham / Eldritch Horror and own them both. Do not have much time to play them though... so I usually just settle for The Elder Sign, which is shorter.

Do those board games have digging mode?

I have no idea what "digging mode" is.  But I'm going to go ahead and say no.

Arkham/Eldrich Horror is designed to feel like your sitting down with friends and playing the pen and paper version of Call of Cthulhu....just on steroids.  All the characters you can chose in either game have appeared as NPC's in the pen and paper game.

So finally it's a roleplaying game (yes, your character's stats can level up, you have a plotline to follow and your characters can die or go insane.) in board game format.

Honestly with all the F13 fans that we are, I suggest "LAST FRIDAY".

Ah okay.  Life is way to short for me to concern myself with "digging", "occult books", "Fake news" and/or "Your a snowflake".  I'm a Canadian damn it, not an American.  The only things I care about right now are when is Spring coming and when will F13 the Game get released! :D :D :D

I'm not sure if these would count as horror:

Painkiller

Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell

Painkiller: Overdose

I did not play Resurrection though due to not hearing good things about

Painkiller: Hell and Damnation

These games came around 2004-2008. you play as a guy who died with his wife in an accident. She goes to Heaven, but you're in Purgatory for some reason. You have to get rid of generals in Lucifer's army in various places they occupy in Purgatory. If you collect 66 souls, you turn into a demon and can kill at ease.

Some of the levels are scary like an orphanage, an abandoned amusement park and a graveyard.

My favorite expansion for this game was Overdose because you played as a different character with different weapons and enemies.

Another one is Dante's Inferno, so what if it's similar to God of War? It is still scary going into Hell and fighting weird creatures like unbaptized infants and a version of Cerberus that's three mouths. The level of Lust is weird as hell too.

Sorry, didn't know that was a no no on these forums as I don't often (maybe once every couple months) post on here and I only did it to avoid another no no (at least on the forums I do frequently post on) in the way of a super lengthy(almost a page long) list post, but I will review them (the forum rules) and try to better adhere to them in future posts.
