Cool, go buy world of warcraft and see how far you get without paying to play. That's a complete game, still gotta pay to keep the servers running.

Go buy Final Fantasy Online, pop it in and see what happens. That's a complete game too, but damn those servers gotta get funded somehow.

Oh wait ... I keep forgetting certain people here think magic is gonna keep em' running. lol

Stop. First, learn to be respectful and argue without insult or being sarcastic with a passive-agressive attitude.

Second, this games have this model from The Begining. Friday The 13th never said this in his campaign, so if they made this Now, a lot Of people will be against and will make his game dies.

Third, dont understimate people of lower age thant you, you know why? Because they are The main people who keep playing a ton of games, are an important Part of the future gamers. And the F13 fans aren't all like you. A lot of us won't pay a subscripction that appears from nothing. Nothing more to said. We never going to agree.

Yeah. No. This isn't an MMO. These types of games should never be sub based.

im hoping the fact that he sees everyone is against him on this arguement will make him think more about it

I think that what I said is the way to go, doesn't mean I'm right or it's what they'll do. Likewise with what you have said. Neither of us are the devs so really it's all speculation.

We'll have to wait and see what they do.

For now, we can just agree to disagree on the matter. Cool?

yes ok but one thing i do wanna bring back up is the fact that recently they made another 500,000 from backerkit making them above 2 mill in cash budget so i feel if they put out a few maps with that then they shouldn't have to worry about wasting the budget on the free stuff

I getcha.

My concern is really to continuity of the game above all else. I know it's gotta be funded somehow.

Maybe they already have plans/ideas on how to do that which none of us have thought of? Who knows.

For now, I'll be happy with whatever is in game to start when it comes out.

one thing i realised we all forgot to realise as well is that maps also have a limited ammount just like jason skins so if they implement the rest of the maps then we don't have to worry about this issue from that point on

3 maps will be ok for the launch, later maybe adding more maps like from part 5 and other movies will be fine

3 maps are fine to release ... and again, those who want the game YESTERDAY want more and more added before release and yet don't wanna wait, that's ridiculous. DLC later can bring more maps, but if you entitled fools expect them free then idk what to tell ya.

NO company ever is going to take a loss because some whiny kids on the internet bitched and moaned that they want free stuff.

More maps cost more money. If you want them so badly, pay for them as DLC. Or pay monthly subscription for online play and then maybe the DLC will just be added when it's worth doing.

Triple A games ... people buy DLC or not, people pay subscriptions or not. Everyone knows these companies are not going to change their model because you bitch, or because you're cheap and don't wanna pay for extra content.

Gun Media's mistake was being so transparent and accommodating because it has attracted the leeches who show full disrespect to such a willing-to-work-with-us company by expecting things to be handed.

If Triple A companies need to charge for DLC why the HELL would you think an indie game can just keep producing for you with no cost to you at all? People trying to take advantage of kindness as weakness. Gun has been AMAZING with implementing feedback from beta, taking polls on added Jason skins and the whole nine ... and yet there is still this segment of people who wanna walk over them.

It's disgusting.

They are making a game for the fans which is absolutely amazing and rather than be a part of growth of the game, this element of people want growth with no contribution.

NEWSFLASH: If you backed kickstarter or backerkit, you backed what we are GETTING AT RELEASE.

If you want more, and you want the game to last ... then contribute to that.

I keep seeing "oh well DLC and making people pay for more stuff will make the game flop." NO, what will make the game flop is these leeches who want, want, want but don't wanna put up to keep it running. You want more content, maintained servers and an online game which isn't shut down in 6 months, you PAY to keep it going. If you aren't interested in it enough to contribute to lasting gameplay and experienced, or new content ... then you really have no place to speak.

The devs owe us NOTHING beyond launch and yet they WANT to add more and grow it. But you want it all for free.

LOL! Go back to Call of Duty or Final Fantasy ... oh WAIT! You have to PAY for those add ons or monthly online play. *GASP*

But yeah ... the indie game can just give to you for free what triple A games change for LOL ... wow the ignorance.

EDIT: I think/hope it should be clear to which section of people this post is meant for. Obviously not for everyone in this thread.

Devs would be foolish to separate the playerbase.

It makes the most sense to me to release some stuff for free every now and then to show the gaming community that you are a good company who is interesting in improving their game post-release (which will lead to more sales for the game itself and for future titles they decide to release).

If you want to do something above and beyond all that, the best way to go about it would be to release an expansion pack with a bunch of additional content. Imo.

They don't need to make money on subscriptions alone.

You gotta remember; yes they gotta make money but they also need to keep customers happy.  Sure many people here on the forum would admit to buying almost everything they have, but they need to make things affordable.

The life of the game is required to coincide with the financial aspect.  Because you cannot make money for long if you force people to continue to empty their pockets for you without something to keep people engaged.

That's why the Subscription idea isn't meant for games like this.  You're paying to play a game that isn't large enough to render that justifiable and won't be as consistantly updated as MMOs.

However, we don't want to pull Call of Duty and have map packs to separate playerbase.  It's basically having people pay to play with their friends.  That doesn't do a small Indie company like this justice, in fact it would hurt their rep and the rep for this game.  So selling maps is off the table, especially considering there are only three thus far.

It would come down to future payable DLC.

What I would do is have Jasons and Maps be free generally speaking.  (I would let Uber Jason be sold since many don't really wanna see him but many do so it splits it up so only people who really want Uber Jason will play as him by purchasing him, I would say for the same price as Savini's Jason)

I would focus a lot of the main continuous financial flow to make up for this in Cosmetics, mainly counselors, and have them in packs that fit all counselors or individually sold.  Another thing I would sell occasionally would be more weapons for Jasons that are already in the game, weapons that didn't make it in the game.  I would make that a decent hunk of money.  Not all of them, but a select few.

__

So lets say we want a new weapon for a Jason; a Hammer, for the purposes of this example.

It would first specify which Jason types can use the Hammer.  Part 2, 3, 6, and 8.  With each Jason, they get it's several kills along with one unique kill for each Jason that uses it.

I would set the default price at $0.99, and for every Jason character that gets to use it, the price increases by one dollar.  So if those four Jasons can use the Hammer, the price of the hammer would be $4.99 (excluding tax).  If it's a weapon usable by just one Jason, its $1.99.

But lets say you want to purchase the weapon for just Part 2.  Well, we can make that happen.  If you wanna purchase the Hammer for just Part 2 and not 3, 6, and 8, you save money.  You only have to pay $1.99, because if you play Part 2 religiously and won't touch 3, 6, or 8, then that'd be fair to not have the person pay more for just one weapon, thus you make it more available to people.

Hammer for one Jason: $1.99

Hammer for all four Jasons: $4.99

Now lets use another example... Bonesaw, maybe.

All the Jasons in the game currently can use the Bonesaw.

So the price of the Bonesaw would be $7.99.

But if you wanna buy it for just one Jason, it'd be $1.99.

And we do this with every weapon added for Jasons already in the game.  Of course this can be coincided with the occasional free weapon, but overall I see no reason not to do this.

Waddya think?

There aren't many Jasons left.  And it is because they're one of the main appeals is why I don't think they should be sold.

Produces longevity in the base game.  That's important.  You'd wanna make the free content extend the game's life as much as you can; everything secondary, cosmetics for example, should follow suit with possible micro-transactions.

When particular characters or maps are locked behind a paywall, you lock it's longevity behind a paywall.  That doesn't sit well, especially with indie companies.

Blizzard made that smart move with Overwatch.

Primary: Characters (Counselor and Jason), Maps, Singleplayer Missions, New Gameplay Content.

Secondary: Cosmetics, Weapons, anything not affecting how the game is played or affecting XP development

i still think the ones that arent quite like the rest should cost money

Examples i have for these being

Roy Uber Pamela Nes and anymore original ones they have

(on the subject me and guys in the discord had some ideas for other ones to add that i shall add to the list)

Hallucination Jason from part 5           Hallucination Pamela from part 3

I definitely think Uber should be sold.  It restricts the usage only to those who REALLY want him since his existence can cause tension.

so we kinda agree the less normal jasons and people who arent jason should be dlc leaving 4 and x to be free

personally i don't really care whether they have the rest of the jasons as a dlc or not, as long as they look great and it isn't overly expensive, i'll buy it, personally a weapon dlc just alone wouldn't get much people to buy it, so it would be cool for a dlc to have a whole bunch of stuff in one like:

Jason X Pack:

-Jason X (Original)

-Uber Jason

-Space station map

-Weapons (Maybe chain etc.)

-New kills (liquid nitrogen kill, etc.)
-Jason X clothing palate

It seems like a lot but it could be a really cool dlc in the future.

I think all of Jason's designs should be paid for. They will have their strengths and weaknesses like the rest, and they should not have any advantage over someone who does not hit. It is mainly aesthetic, and would not divide the community. Weapons, clothes, all that to buy. Maps? I think no.

Although of course, if they decide to put some Jasons for free I will not complain xD

I don't mind it really, i'm not a rich dude but when it comes to F13 i'd buy anything that would help refresh the game!

I think any larger DLC like maps may be a ways down the road. I'm unsure where they are in developing single player but it would be safe to assume that's where most of their resources will go. Who knows though, I don't.

In my mind I imagine that it would be "packs" of Jason's, like three at a time. Rolling them out one by one would likely bring in more money though, as long as the game is sustained by a strong player base.

I think the main issue with Singleplayer will be AI.  Otherwise we have the maps, they mocapped the special kills for Singleplayer before the Beta was announced, so it can't be too far into the Summer until they're done.  Depends on how many missions they wanna do.

They way i see it is most of the people who are buying this game are hardcore f13 fans and wouldnt mind buying map packs, free is better but its going to have to make money no one is going to work for free. so I would pay for it.

but earlier in this tread i think it was Ben that said they will continue to support the game post lunch. My own thoughts is I think its safe to say we will see more maps in the future.

This game is not only for fans.

Dlc maps = money from fans, but normal people evading this game.

Free maps = more people buying this game and happy fans :) fans who Now can buy other type Of dlc just for fans (like skins, clothes, weapons)
