Beginning the first of July and continuing over the last ten days, there have been hacking attempts on Friday the 13th: The Game affecting matchmaking, gameplay, and player progression. We are in the process of conducting our own internal investigation and have engaged a third party international computer forensics company. We are working with our development partners toward preventing further disruptions. These attempts and the harm to our player base constitute a crime. So, in addition to our other efforts above, we will also be fully cooperating with any resulting law enforcement investigations. We have not detected any loss of or unauthorized access to any personal or financial player information. Due to the criminal nature of this intrusion and the ongoing investigation as to its origins, we are currently unable to share additional information.

UPDATE: (Status: 9.3.2020) The final step towards securing servers to protect against future attacks has been put in place as of last night. At this time, the process has been completed, and the team will continue to monitor and adjust if needed, should any interruption of the Official F13 Servers happen again. UPDATE: (Status: 8.12.2020) The patch will be rolling out on Xbox and Switch at approximately 3:00 PM Eastern US Time today (8.12). As with all patch days, expect matchmaking to take a bit longer than usual as players exit, download the patch, and repopulate game servers. This brings all platforms up to the latest patch level. We should see another incremental improvement in matchmaking and stability. That said, there is still work to complete. This has been a migration of sorts, and we'll need to monitor to make sure we're up and running, then we can take the next step and decommission the old. So please do keep us posted on any issues or instability you experience after the patch has been deployed. Thank you! UPDATE: (Status: 8.7.2020) The team is monitoring some more recent incoming attacks. While this patch is part of a stepped approach, the team is working to expedite the next steps as quickly as possible in light of the continued attacks. While each stage of this should deliver improvements, even if they are only slight improvements, we are not out of the woods just yet. As stated previously, we anticipate the greatest improvement to be once all patches have been delivered, due to how the backend is structured. That process is being addressed with the utmost urgency and we will share more news as soon as we have it. UPDATE: (Status: 8.6.2020) The patch will be rolling out on PC/Steam and PS4 at 3:00 PM Eastern US Time today (8.6). Xbox and Switch are still in process, but no update on their progress just yet. As with all patch days, expect matchmaking to take a bit longer than usual as players exit, download the patch, and repopulate game servers. Keep us posted on any issues or instability you experience after the patch has been deployed. ORIGINAL POST: (Status: 8.5.2020) Recent attacks on our servers causing instability have been under investigation by the team. Working with our development partners, we have a patch candidate that is working through the process of going live on all platforms. However, due to the urgency of this patch we will be rolling it out as it is ready on a platform by platform basis as opposed to holding the patch until every platform is ready. We aim to have the patch out on PC and PS4 by the weekend. We will update this thread when those builds go out. Xbox and Switch will be trailing, but we plan to deliver those as soon as possible. While this sounds like players on specific platforms will see improvements before players on the trailing platforms, due to how our backend is structured, the patch landing on other platforms means we should see an overall improvement in matchmaking for every platform, building as we reach parity. The staged approach is going to make incremental improvements as it rolls out on different platforms and ultimately, once the last platform is updated, alleviate the issue for the community. I'll be back to update this thread as the patch rolls out. Thank you for your patience, gang.

We have a patch in the testing phase and it will be a quick turnaround patch. Meaning, once we have news that it passed that phase we'll be looking to roll it out almost immediately. No one is "waiting for them to stop" either as we have an ongoing investigation and have been working with development partners for weeks to get this resolved. So before you fly off the handle, please read our previous statement on the situation, and keep an eye out in the next few days for the news on the testing phase for this patch.

All things must come to an end, eventually. And while that statement might sound ominous, there is a lot to cover and a lot of news to highlight, so please read on. Dedicated Servers for Friday the 13th: The Game will be decommissioned in the upcoming patch, set to roll out this month, November 2020. What this means is that the game will revert back to peer to peer matchmaking for Quick Play lobbies. The Database Servers, however, will stay active and continue to house all player progression and unlocks, so users can continue to play Friday the 13th: The Game via peer to peer Quick Play and Private Matches. The patch that will go live in November will also be the final patch for Friday the 13th: The Game. The team has been hard at work completing fixes for a long list of player issues to include in that final patch, and the community can expect finalized patch notes to be released in the week prior to the patch going live. The official forums will be archived in a locked state, so that players can still reference the information that lives on the various boards. As for the online presence of the game and official channels, we will be switching to a more minimal approach, keeping our social media channels active for any necessary announcements only. The game will continue to be available for sale, and as such will continue to receive the full support of JasonKillsBugs.com as a resource for troubleshooting. Please do continue to use the support site for any assistance needed. As for the Double XP, CP, and Tape Drop Rates that we set in the start of the pandemic, the team will opt to leave this active indefinitely. The team at Gun wants to thank each and every player and fan that has made Friday the 13th: The Game what it is today. We know this news is hard to hear, despite being inevitable. We appreciate each and every one of you. Stay tuned on what is next for Gun by following along on the Official Gun Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Patch Notes - 11.10.2020 - Final Patch Patch 1.39 This patch will deploy on Tuesday, November 10th. Patch is scheduled to start rolling out at roughly 10AM Eastern US Time Tuesday morning on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Switch will be delayed. As soon as we have definite timing for the Switch we will update here. Combat Stance Commonly referred to as Sliding or Teleporting, the team has fixed an issue allowing players to manipulate combat stance changes. Players may still see, when in spectator mode, counselors attempting to perform the exploit, however this is a visual artifact. Pocket Knife Issues Instant break free by using health spray or firecrackers when grabbed, resulting in not only an instant break free but also retention of the player’s pocket knife, has been fixed. Loss of pocket knives in circumstances when firecrackers are used has also been fixed. Jason - Game Play Ability Unlock/Recharge Rate toggle in private matches has been fixed to include both parameters. Lobby icon irregularities resulting in an inaccurate lobby icon have been fixed. Abduction, when Jason is able to Morph while holding a counselor, has been fixed. Mask HP loopholes where use of a flare gun or firecrackers could get the mask to come off too quickly have been fixed. Jason Kill Sequence - Kneel: The issue where the kneeling animation during the Jason Kill process could be repeated has been fixed. Counselor - Game Play Hiding Under Bed: An issue where players could hide under beds and become stuck in a way where Jason could not kill them has been fixed. While it is still possible in some instances to cause the bug, the counselor will be able to be killed by Jason in that state. Lobby icon irregularities resulting in an inaccurate lobby icon have been fixed. Numerous safe spots around the maps have been fixed, including the Pinehurst Roof method by way of Tommy’s bed. Players will now see an error if they roll and sell perks too quickly, but the game will stay functional and no longer lock up. Players can then continue to roll and sell perks, being cautious of not overloading the roll system. An issue causing the Counselor clothing options to not save properly when altering color/items has been resolved. Feel free to go back to playing Pink Cop Kenny. Tommy Jarvis voice lines have been restored, and this is between him and Jason. General Various Interaction Locks have been fixed, particularly those that occurred when players would input either multiple button presses or rapid button presses in short succession, rapid pick up and put down of items, and multiple inputs appearing with on screen prompts. Fuse Box and Fuse spawn for the Cop call has been extended to ensure the fuse does not spawn inside the house with the fuse repair box. With this patch, matchmaking will shift away from Dedicated Servers and onto Peer to Peer Matchmaking for all matches. The game will still be playable online publicly with the Quick Play option and privately with the Private Match option. For more on this change, as well as the status of the game going forward, please follow up with our statement here.

    For some this game is nothing but a dead game that will be forgotten with time. For me, it is not. For most of the people that don't know me, I am really young. When I first played the game I was 14 years old. In my 2017 vacations, I played this game every single day. I used to wake up at 8 AM and played until 23 PM, only stopping to lunch and go to the bathroom (seriously I almost end up having to use glasses because of that lol). So yeah, even though it is just a game, it is a very important thing in my life because the time I spent on it was in that phase that I will probably be remembering every time with nostalgia when I get to 40 years old. I tried to stop before, but I just couldn't the game was too amazing. Knowing that it will be reverted to the unplayable pee to pee dumbshit makes so pissed that I want to jump out of a window. I was not just in the game that I have good memories though. Although I am relatively new to the forum, I had a really good time here as well, even when discussing the dumbest things (Sneaky is still better than Thick-Skinned in my books, maybe I am a lost cause...). But well, enough of talking about this. I had good experiences in this game and in this forum thanks to you guys. I really appreciate the cool way I was treated by the member and by the moderators. I will miss all of this. Bye. ;-;

Nice video @HaHaTrumpWon. @Dunken, it sounds like one impressive match. @MortenMagnePal, from the people I encounter in Quick Play, it seems to be a common observation. @SonofOdin6039, giving roadside service Jason and friends the finger and bow was a nice touch. I once had a match with a Savini Jason and a pair of Tiffany helpers. I quickly realized that they were allied, and I made them think I was with them. They went around opening doors, to which I closed and locked them again, once they moved on. I repaired the car and parked it near an exit, telling my "team" that I had trapped it, and they took me at my word. Jason ended up only getting 1/7 and left the lobby with his sidekicks afterwards.

No need to apologize. You do you. Your comments may come out of left field and may seem bizarre to most of us. But you are always respectful of other people. Which is something a lot of your critics cannot say.

The ending of the match as it is now is fine. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. @Laotian Lam, I wouldn't want longer matches either. @glowing ooze, I checked Jason's wallet once. I found $13, a photo of Pam, and a ticket stub for Halloween. @OCT 31 1978, there was evidence of a credit card having been there, but someone already took it. Given the scratch marks on the wallet, I suspect Freddy.

That's a very clever workaround @aurllcooljay. A lot of games seem to make of a similar circumstance. Hopefully an offline profile save will become a thing, so people don't have to resort to this.

You realize the object of the game is to escape and not to smack Jason around like he's a piñata right? The rage buff is fine how it is. It accomplished what it was primarily supposed to do, eliminate Battle-Chad squads with their swift-attacker and sucker punch equipped, so they could run around and troll Jason for twenty minutes to entertain their twelve Twitch followers. The Rage buff also shifted the focus from tea-bagging Jason, back to trying to escape the map as quickly as possible. Speaking from a counselor's perspective, I liked the rage buff. Unless Jason was really good, the game had just gotten too easy. It's not perfect, but at least I become a little bit more concerned now whenever I hear Jason's mother start cackling. The Rage buff would never have been necessary in the first place if Counselor mains hadn't complained so much that the game was too hard because Jason was what he was supposed to be... A nearly unstoppable killing machine.

I think less about winning or losing, and more about having fun. If the match gets people laughing or cheering in the spirit of fun, then that's my win. You get style points for giving Jason the bird. RE Resistance leaves me feeling more like a Dungeon Master. Does anyone here play D&D these days?

Toxicity comes in many forms. A lot of perceived actions can be toxic to one and not so much to another. Newer and less experienced players that get salty about losing can be toxic. More experienced players can be toxic after a newer player costs them a match. Bored players trolling others can be toxic. Players unwilling to adapt and improve, expecting other players to let them win can be toxic. There are probably a hundred or more conditions that can be deemed toxic.

Hey all, the team looked at every angle when assessing the situation initially. We explored the option of the swap to P2P, but that would still leave gaps in security due to how player stats (CP, Perks, etc.) is stored. I expect to have more news very soon on the progress being made by the team to get you all connected again.

I’d rather someone spam the forum with questions that legitimately pertain to the game and produce quality feedback rather than have you spam the forum with your delusional conspiracies of them reducing the amounts of windows that can be used, reducing weapons or just in general it’s impossible to kill Jason BS. @powerhouse33, give it time. The more you play as Jason the better you’ll get. I would suggest playing offline bots to work on getting used to your abilities. Practice blocking and quick knife throws. Also, get your shift down and then start practicing slashing as your coming out of shift. When you are dealing with multiple counselors, you almost have to treat it like a dance routine. Block, quick knife, turn and drop back a few steps, back to block. After you start dealing damage to them and they aren’t dealing much to you, they’ll start thinning out.
  22. 7 points
Those were dark times... Agreed. @powerhouse33, things will get for you over time. As you gain more familiar with things as Jason, you'll get the best of dancers and trolls in due time. Hang in there! 😎

If one puts in the work on either side, their success rate can be higher than 50%. I agree that no one should expect a win, especially if they don't put forth the effort.
  30. 6 points
I fixed that for you. Last time I checked, Camp Crystal Lake was Jason's territory. The counselors are trespassing on that territory. No sensible member of this forum has asked for counselors to be made to feel helpless. I have seen players ask for more weapons and pocket knives for counselors. Newer players may be a little more fearful or caught off guard than more experienced players. As you learn your way through the game, it happens much less. The only time a counselor would be helpless is if they had nothing to protect themselves with. There is a reason why counselors run to a cabin or campsite and arm themselves when a match starts. You also have perks to grant you resources from the start as well. I find the entitlement to be about the same for long term and short term players. People don't like to lose, or to look like they suck when they have an audience. All players don't put in the work to adapt and improve. That's why they lose, and that's why they are extra salty at this point. The rate of survival for any given counselor all depends on a number of variables. Skill, luck, timing, communication and experience are just a few things that influence the outcome of a match. If the game was the perfect embodiment of a movie, only one or two counselors would survive every match. Intimate knowledge of the game's mechanics and animations give players who study them an edge over those who don't. There are counselors who have a 90%+ rate of escape/survival to this day. Just because a Jason player expects an easy kill, doesn't mean he gets it. The same goes double for counselor escapes, and triple for a defeat of a Jason.

It sucks when players rage quit. At this point, there is nothing to deter them, since the dedicated servers have come and gone.

I just wanted to say thank you for making F13th the game. No game has ever come close to what F13th is, and probably never will. Its sad to see you guys shut off dedicated servers.. But for what its worth. Its been a hell of a ride. Also.. this is one of the few forums that never banned me for speaking my mind. So thank you to the moderators too. To everyone else on this forum that i've argued or agreed with. You made it worth staying around. With only a few days left. I will now try to get myself killed when playing as Jason. I've never been Killed as Jason. But hey, i figure my 1st time should be my last time. A fitting end..lol

Using a boat or car is supposed to be risky. If you take the starting sound from the boat, then the car would have to lose it too. While it is hard to escape by boat at times, it is not impossible.

If anyone ever takes you up on the offer of a rematch, let us know how that turns out. Sadly that's why we can't have nice things. It seems too hard for some people to play as intended. That sounds like a typical response from cheating scum.

I know I did. It helped being a bit mature for my age back then. As for kids in this generation, it all comes down to how they were raised. Some kids have no business playing a game like this. If you can act mature, and not be a problem child, I don't mind you playing. If you can't play a game like this without swearing every other sentence, don't be surprised if you get muted by other players.

Based on your play style as Jason, what would be the title of your movie or series, if your greatest moments were put together for a viewing audience?
  41. 6 points
You're welcome. Play whichever side makes you happiest. That's what counts in the long run. @Jason Todd Voorhees, your movie sounds like there would be a really interesting plot twist, guaranteed to keep you on edge until the end. I like that. @MrSketchyFungus, I picture Jason being a badass gunslinger, or rather knife slinger.
  42. 6 points
@Fatal Error, you're doing your part to control the counselor population, especially the abundant packs of Vanessa out there. @Somethin Cool, as there is a "for dummies" book on just about everything, a movie of such for this game would be appropriate. It sounds like a good YouTube series. @Bloody Jason, your question is better suited with evidence to the team at jasonkillsbugs.com, rather than here. Also, watch the naming and shaming.

@Alien_Number_Six, I would see your movie more than once. @ExpertDual, that is the best time to play, especially during a good storm. @hogbackandbeans, we all get better with time. Your sequel will be better than the original. Awesome forum name by the way.

Let me get this straight... The servers are down because some cocksucker got butt-hurt about getting banned (presumably because he was hacking/cheating/being a douchebag) and decided to act like a spoiled brat about it instead of growing the fuck up and refraining from taking it out on everyone else? Somebody REALLY needs to get a life. If you're upset about getting banned, that's your problem, not ours. All you've done by fucking with the servers is demonstrate what a little bitch you are. It might take a while, but eventually the problem's going to be fixed and normal play will resume. Server problems are temporary, being a butt-hurt little fuck-boi is forever.

That question has already been asked and the answer was no. I only need the 1000 matches as Jason and a PHD in murder trophy to platinum the game. Only 254 more matches to go for the 1000. I kind of agree with their stance on not lowering the requirements though. It would be a huge slap in the face to the people that grinded to get them. Want the trophies? Earn them.
