All things must come to an end, eventually. And while that statement might sound ominous, there is a lot to cover and a lot of news to highlight, so please read on. Dedicated Servers for Friday the 13th: The Game will be decommissioned in the upcoming patch, set to roll out this month, November 2020. What this means is that the game will revert back to peer to peer matchmaking for Quick Play lobbies. The Database Servers, however, will stay active and continue to house all player progression and unlocks, so users can continue to play Friday the 13th: The Game via peer to peer Quick Play and Private Matches. The patch that will go live in November will also be the final patch for Friday the 13th: The Game. The team has been hard at work completing fixes for a long list of player issues to include in that final patch, and the community can expect finalized patch notes to be released in the week prior to the patch going live. The official forums will be archived in a locked state, so that players can still reference the information that lives on the various boards. As for the online presence of the game and official channels, we will be switching to a more minimal approach, keeping our social media channels active for any necessary announcements only. The game will continue to be available for sale, and as such will continue to receive the full support of JasonKillsBugs.com as a resource for troubleshooting. Please do continue to use the support site for any assistance needed. As for the Double XP, CP, and Tape Drop Rates that we set in the start of the pandemic, the team will opt to leave this active indefinitely. The team at Gun wants to thank each and every player and fan that has made Friday the 13th: The Game what it is today. We know this news is hard to hear, despite being inevitable. We appreciate each and every one of you. Stay tuned on what is next for Gun by following along on the Official Gun Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Patch Notes - 11.10.2020 - Final Patch Patch 1.39 This patch will deploy on Tuesday, November 10th. Patch is scheduled to start rolling out at roughly 10AM Eastern US Time Tuesday morning on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Switch will be delayed. As soon as we have definite timing for the Switch we will update here. Combat Stance Commonly referred to as Sliding or Teleporting, the team has fixed an issue allowing players to manipulate combat stance changes. Players may still see, when in spectator mode, counselors attempting to perform the exploit, however this is a visual artifact. Pocket Knife Issues Instant break free by using health spray or firecrackers when grabbed, resulting in not only an instant break free but also retention of the player’s pocket knife, has been fixed. Loss of pocket knives in circumstances when firecrackers are used has also been fixed. Jason - Game Play Ability Unlock/Recharge Rate toggle in private matches has been fixed to include both parameters. Lobby icon irregularities resulting in an inaccurate lobby icon have been fixed. Abduction, when Jason is able to Morph while holding a counselor, has been fixed. Mask HP loopholes where use of a flare gun or firecrackers could get the mask to come off too quickly have been fixed. Jason Kill Sequence - Kneel: The issue where the kneeling animation during the Jason Kill process could be repeated has been fixed. Counselor - Game Play Hiding Under Bed: An issue where players could hide under beds and become stuck in a way where Jason could not kill them has been fixed. While it is still possible in some instances to cause the bug, the counselor will be able to be killed by Jason in that state. Lobby icon irregularities resulting in an inaccurate lobby icon have been fixed. Numerous safe spots around the maps have been fixed, including the Pinehurst Roof method by way of Tommy’s bed. Players will now see an error if they roll and sell perks too quickly, but the game will stay functional and no longer lock up. Players can then continue to roll and sell perks, being cautious of not overloading the roll system. An issue causing the Counselor clothing options to not save properly when altering color/items has been resolved. Feel free to go back to playing Pink Cop Kenny. Tommy Jarvis voice lines have been restored, and this is between him and Jason. General Various Interaction Locks have been fixed, particularly those that occurred when players would input either multiple button presses or rapid button presses in short succession, rapid pick up and put down of items, and multiple inputs appearing with on screen prompts. Fuse Box and Fuse spawn for the Cop call has been extended to ensure the fuse does not spawn inside the house with the fuse repair box. With this patch, matchmaking will shift away from Dedicated Servers and onto Peer to Peer Matchmaking for all matches. The game will still be playable online publicly with the Quick Play option and privately with the Private Match option. For more on this change, as well as the status of the game going forward, please follow up with our statement here.

    For some this game is nothing but a dead game that will be forgotten with time. For me, it is not. For most of the people that don't know me, I am really young. When I first played the game I was 14 years old. In my 2017 vacations, I played this game every single day. I used to wake up at 8 AM and played until 23 PM, only stopping to lunch and go to the bathroom (seriously I almost end up having to use glasses because of that lol). So yeah, even though it is just a game, it is a very important thing in my life because the time I spent on it was in that phase that I will probably be remembering every time with nostalgia when I get to 40 years old. I tried to stop before, but I just couldn't the game was too amazing. Knowing that it will be reverted to the unplayable pee to pee dumbshit makes so pissed that I want to jump out of a window. I was not just in the game that I have good memories though. Although I am relatively new to the forum, I had a really good time here as well, even when discussing the dumbest things (Sneaky is still better than Thick-Skinned in my books, maybe I am a lost cause...). But well, enough of talking about this. I had good experiences in this game and in this forum thanks to you guys. I really appreciate the cool way I was treated by the member and by the moderators. I will miss all of this. Bye. ;-;

Killing dedicated servers days before an actual Friday The 13th is so on brand for Gun Media it's not even funny anymore.

That's a very clever workaround @aurllcooljay. A lot of games seem to make of a similar circumstance. Hopefully an offline profile save will become a thing, so people don't have to resort to this.

You realize the object of the game is to escape and not to smack Jason around like he's a piñata right? The rage buff is fine how it is. It accomplished what it was primarily supposed to do, eliminate Battle-Chad squads with their swift-attacker and sucker punch equipped, so they could run around and troll Jason for twenty minutes to entertain their twelve Twitch followers. The Rage buff also shifted the focus from tea-bagging Jason, back to trying to escape the map as quickly as possible. Speaking from a counselor's perspective, I liked the rage buff. Unless Jason was really good, the game had just gotten too easy. It's not perfect, but at least I become a little bit more concerned now whenever I hear Jason's mother start cackling. The Rage buff would never have been necessary in the first place if Counselor mains hadn't complained so much that the game was too hard because Jason was what he was supposed to be... A nearly unstoppable killing machine.

That doesn't sound too surprising at this point. Thanks for sharing this. A lot of people are angry, upset, frutrated or disappointed at this point, for good reason. Other people, not so much. Let's hope the workaround can make the PC players a little less of any of those feelings.

A lot to cover here, but let's start with this: What Kodiak said still applies. Also, giving Kodiak trouble for moderating here is going to get you nowhere. We need to keep the peace around here right up until the day they're locked. Which brings me to my next point: "Why aren't they locked yet?" Because contrary to all the keyboard lawyers in this thread, we are working on getting the PC situation under control, in some form or fashion. We are also working on a pair of nagging issues on the Switch. I saw someone mention in here that the game is "close to the end" and I have to point out once again that is incorrect. The game is PAST it's end. We are well outside of active development on this title. I don't know how much clearer I can be on this. We are no longer actively working on F13. "What does that mean? I thought you just said you were working on two Switch issues and the PC situation?" We are. But we are doing so outside of active development which means we're stringing together work on a title that is no longer officially supported in hopes to resolve these nagging issues for the community. THIS TAKES A BIT MORE TIME THAN USUAL. This title, for all intents and purposes, has already hit sunset. The work we are currently doing is beyond and outside of that. I'm not expecting anyone to bake us cookies over it either. I'm simply highlighting the fact that we are no longer in a normal development cycle. "It is unplayable! Take it off Steam." I'm no lawyer, and neither are you. That's first and foremost. But more importantly, we are still working to get the situation resolved. That said, the game is not unplayable to a point that would cause us to completely remove it. Do private matches function? Do challenges function? Do bots function? Ok. So public lobbies are in a state right now, the team is working on getting a workaround done. "A workaround?!?!?!? Why not a straight up fix? Stop the hackers for good!" That's a wonderful long term goal. Unfortunately, as stated earlier, we are well beyond long term goals. I'm going to be brutally honest: Hackers are going to continue to tamper with the experience on PC well after we are fully sunset. This is true of all multiplayer games on PC. Eventually, things like player hosted lobbies or private matches will be the main way to avoid a tampered game experience. So a workaround is important because down the line, however long it takes them, when they do hack the lobbies again, we can't keep coming back to work on F13 for the rest of our lives. And now the final point to make. The censorship topic. It is not censorship to be told you are not following the rules of the forum and be removed from said forum. You are still free to say and think what you want, but this forum has rules. Follow them, or leave. Those are the only two options and it has absolutely nothing to do with censorship. This is a forum created, curated, and run by the makers of a damn video game. Stop claiming censorship over showing images of unreleased content or otherwise ill-gotten content. That is against the rules. Just like when you go to 7-11 you gotta wear a shirt and shoes. That's not censorship either. Or how you can't scream expletives in line at Burger King. That's not censorship either. And as for being overly negative, no one is saying you need to be our biggest fan right now. No one is saying that constructive criticism isn't welcome. Because it totally is! But what will not be tolerated is showing up in here just to try and start trouble with people who are still following along to stay informed. Forums are a mini community and if you're here to agitate the community here, you are not a welcome part of this community. Be critical, be cynical even. But starting fights with people who aren't as aggravated as you or aren't as cynical as you is not welcome in the least. And guess what? There is no rule or law against that! Because this forum is a completely optional space. This idea that you have a RIGHT to be a jerk in this forum is ridiculous and honestly, wholly incorrect. You purchased a video game. You receive the game and support for the game, which is always available through JasonKillsBugs.com. ALL OTHER ELEMENTS of the community efforts Gun provides are completely optional and not owed to you in the least. This forum, chatting with us on Twitter, chatting in Twitch streams. That's all optional and you can be banned without even being given a reason. Because those are not rights you've purchased by buying the game. Sorry you had to find out like this, but this and all other Gun Official channels have rules and if the rules aren't followed, you have to go. Regardless if we're in the waning days of the forum or not. And that, my friends, is STILL NOT censorship. It's community management. The community is a garden and if you choose to be a weed, expect to be plucked. You can still be toxic, just be toxic elsewhere. The internet is vast, find someone else's garden to go be a weed in. Because I can guarantee you we didn't build this house and keep it running even now for you to be a problem to the other members here.

If one puts in the work on either side, their success rate can be higher than 50%. I agree that no one should expect a win, especially if they don't put forth the effort.

I fixed that for you. Last time I checked, Camp Crystal Lake was Jason's territory. The counselors are trespassing on that territory. No sensible member of this forum has asked for counselors to be made to feel helpless. I have seen players ask for more weapons and pocket knives for counselors. Newer players may be a little more fearful or caught off guard than more experienced players. As you learn your way through the game, it happens much less. The only time a counselor would be helpless is if they had nothing to protect themselves with. There is a reason why counselors run to a cabin or campsite and arm themselves when a match starts. You also have perks to grant you resources from the start as well. I find the entitlement to be about the same for long term and short term players. People don't like to lose, or to look like they suck when they have an audience. All players don't put in the work to adapt and improve. That's why they lose, and that's why they are extra salty at this point. The rate of survival for any given counselor all depends on a number of variables. Skill, luck, timing, communication and experience are just a few things that influence the outcome of a match. If the game was the perfect embodiment of a movie, only one or two counselors would survive every match. Intimate knowledge of the game's mechanics and animations give players who study them an edge over those who don't. There are counselors who have a 90%+ rate of escape/survival to this day. Just because a Jason player expects an easy kill, doesn't mean he gets it. The same goes double for counselor escapes, and triple for a defeat of a Jason.

It sucks when players rage quit. At this point, there is nothing to deter them, since the dedicated servers have come and gone.

I just wanted to say thank you for making F13th the game. No game has ever come close to what F13th is, and probably never will. Its sad to see you guys shut off dedicated servers.. But for what its worth. Its been a hell of a ride. Also.. this is one of the few forums that never banned me for speaking my mind. So thank you to the moderators too. To everyone else on this forum that i've argued or agreed with. You made it worth staying around. With only a few days left. I will now try to get myself killed when playing as Jason. I've never been Killed as Jason. But hey, i figure my 1st time should be my last time. A fitting end..lol

Using a boat or car is supposed to be risky. If you take the starting sound from the boat, then the car would have to lose it too. While it is hard to escape by boat at times, it is not impossible.
  26. 6 points
If anyone ever takes you up on the offer of a rematch, let us know how that turns out. Sadly that's why we can't have nice things. It seems too hard for some people to play as intended. That sounds like a typical response from cheating scum.

Kill an inexperienced Jason once? They'll get over it. Kill that same Jason ten times in a row? That might frustrate them to the point of quitting. Not all rookie Jason players will take it personally if they lose.

No one doubts your love for the game. Turn your intensity down a couple notches, and continue to have discussions, in the time we all have left on the forum. "Maps that should have been in the game" would have been a good enough title. Take some time to read some of our more active threads of the past. Look at what kinds of things sparked good conversations. While you may not feel there is anything more to talk about with this game, others feel differently. We don't know what Gun is doing next. I personally hope that whatever they put out next doesn't have any of the problems this game had. A forum exists to spark discussion. Complaints are part of the discussion process. I do too.

There are a lot worse things going on right now than somebody using an Uber Mod on offline bots... 😑 Especially on PC. As long as your not affecting anybody else's game, I don't give a crap what people do offline or in private matches for that matter, as long as everybody involved agrees on the rules. Sorry, but I'm going to support anyone whose actively trying to keep this game alive, especially in the current environment with so many assholes out there trying to kill it.

The end will come eventually. I'd rather enjoy the game in the meantime.

I've been reading about the PC version and its grievances. I talked a buddy in my neighborhood into swapping versions this weekend. I'm gonna play PC while he plays PS4. I want to experience the insanity for myself.
  35. 5 points
The simple answer is no, it's not bannable, nor should it be. People have committed far worse offenses playing this game without so much as a slap on the wrist, so it would be kind of funny if they drew the line at Vanessa running Jason around a sofa for ten minutes. Looping is technically an exploit as the term exploit itself has a very broad definition, with may differen't players interrupting that definition in very differen't ways. Using combat stance on doors is technically an exploit, so do we start banning people for doing that too? Some consider tossing a throwing knife at someone who's just jumped through a window an exploit. This is more of a spirit of the game argument, the types of arguments that you're never going to get a consensus on. Looping is annoying yes, especially to new players, but nothing that can't be combated with practice and experience. Bannable though, no.
  36. 5 points
It would seem so. I kinda wish a system similar to RE Resistance could have been a thing. While that game doesn't have nearly as many issues, there are trolls and rage quitters there, among other troublemakers. @TimDuke 01, I've been watching videos as of late on YouTube. I feel for you, @Mayday, and the other honest players of the PC community.

Were the Salt Mines reinstated with the shutdown of the dedicated servers? They didn't work as intended when they were in place the last time.
  38. 5 points
That's not happening. I'm sure you can't sell a game for which you don't own the IP rights to. We'll just be waiting for the F13 lawsuit to come to an end many years down the road. After that happens, someone will just create and release a new game. With technology continuing to evolve, and creativity evolving as well, I imagine a newer game done right could have just as much success, if not more.
  39. 5 points
I was wondering the same thing. @gettodachappa, the final patch for the game has dropped, so it's not likely we'll see any kind of changes going forward.

@Daneasaur, we've been told that the login server is not being shut down anytime soon. Many people (myself included) are hoping for an offline profile to be implemented when that server is eventually shut down. Cross your fingers.

It's a completely different era of gaming. You have entitled, spoiled, and very vulgar / ill-mannered children gaming these days. As far as where they may have picked up such colorful words, look to the "adults" they emulate. All parents aren't perfect, but I applaud those that still believe in actually parenting their children, rather letting technology babysit them. Thankfully, you have mute (when it works). You can also create a party chat with just yourself as an alternate option.

@ovmise, this is not the place to ask about a ban removal. Contact f13game@fearthegun.com and plead your case there. Also, it's a good idea to not do things to get yourself banned in the first place.
  43. 5 points
We'll see what the future holds. An offline save profile would be ideal.
  44. 5 points
All good things come to an end, sadly. There will be players playing for a time, though the login server will be shut down eventually.
  45. 5 points
Many people (myself included) are wondering about that. I was also wondering if the option to possess more than 30 perks would ever be possible. Some perks are less useful than others, but some players might appreciate the option to have space for one of each, while working towards the Rare and Legendary ones. With the final patch coming, I'm not getting my hopes up. This game had an interesting run. So has the forum. Best wishes for wherever your gaming journey takes you. Out of curiosity, how many people would you say that you've run down?
  46. 5 points
@Jason Todd Voorhees, thanks for the heads up and taking the initiative to keep the F13 family united.
  47. 5 points
I want that added too, but original grab would force counselors to play as intended, fixing objectives and trying to escape. The game was supposed to be about Jason and trying to survive, not counselors trolling and humiliating Jason /surviving every time.
  48. 5 points
Dude putting a bear trap in front of the phone box as a counselor is a legit strategy. You as Jason can trap the phone before the counselors have the opportunity to do that. If you don't teleport to the phone first thing then you don't get to complain when counselors take advantage of that. IIRC the devs don't consider that to be against the rules.
  49. 5 points
I covered my friends name since they messaged them. Yes I placed a counselor trap to block the phone..... meanwhile Jason is speed shifting & trying to abduct.... but the minute I place a trap down.... I'm the bad guy lol. It was well over 1 minute into the match and Jason had plenty of time to show up to the phone box. And I don't know how to blue screen people. Thanks for the reminder as to why I hardly visit this circle jerk forum.... aren't you the one that always defends Jason exploits? Lol
