I thought composure affected your chances?

You say spam so can Jason initiate the kill before the window of opportunity for the counselor has closed?

Composure effects breaking free on ur own.. less clicks to break free

For Jason I mean I spam the grab execution button instead of waiting for it to light up

@Confused Counsellor As Jason, If your kills aren't lit up, you can't perform them (whether they light up or not is based on the space required for the kill animation to play out). That's why you'll often see Jason grabbing a counselor and start walking around with them a bit , because they're most likely trying to get a specific kill to light up so they can perform it. I guess in that sense, button mashing would insure you get a kill as soon as one lights up, but you could basically achieve the exact same thing by just pressing a single button immediately as it lights up red. It's up to you to decide which method suits you better.

Can we get an addition to the guide that explains all game symbols and how to read them? Even if it's obvious.

Many of us were not aware of the little hand icon or what it meant

I also am a bit confused about the "mash X to break free from Jason's grab". I know composure and strength affect the amount of taps needed to break free, however does it really matter? It seems to me than Jason always has enough time to at least perform the one-handed choke kill if nothing else is available.

In my experience I've only broken free via mashing X once with AJ and I think the killer was trolling. And whenever I've played Jason, no one has been able to break free from my grabs by mashing X. So doesn't it sort of make the mash X to escape sort of obsolete?

yep.. at a high level composure and strength is useless

Well I've broken free from a grab without a pocketknife plenty of times by mashing x before the choke is available.

A few more q's

1) If Jason is in rage and knows someone is in a cabin, will spamming sense eventually light up the counselor unless they are in a hiding place?

2) Similarly, post rage will spamming sense eventually light up someone standing in the open somewhere even when their fear is zero.

3) Does the music when Jason is near start when you see him or is it anytime he is near (without stalk).

Thanks

1) Even after Rage, Jason's Sense will only highlight the cabin where the counselors are, not the counselors themselves.

2) Considering the boost Rage gives to Jason's Sense ability, it seems likely that it would pick them up, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

3) Having tested this one out myself, I can tell you that it's definitely a proximity thing rather than a line of sight thing.

Thank you. Regarding 1) I should have been clearer. I meant when Jason enter the red cabin and spams sense, will a non hiding counsellor eventually show up on sense (e.g. in the bathroom) ?

The effects of Rage on Sense are as follows - any counselor within Sense radius at that point (which is huge) will be located no matter what Fear level they are. They will also be located in any hiding spot, making a cabin or outhouse glow red. Jason's sensitivity to noise pings in Rage however is decreased, giving counselors an estimated +7 Stealth.

The only thing that impacts counselors being located in Rage are Sense avoidance perks, which are largely meaningless due to Jason not only being able to spam Sense, but having even more opportunity to do so in Rage due to less cooldown.

I have a question. Once Jason's mask is knocked off, you can pick it up.  What are the uses of having his mask?

Thanks

If you have his mask in your inventory and you enter his shack he won't be alerted

Does anyone have any information as far as Fear detection while hiding in a Tent or Outhouse goes?

It seems like in Rage Mode, Jason will detect a person in that hiding spot no matter what, but how about before Rage? Is detection affected by the counsellors fear state at that point? Also assuming no sense avoidance perks are equipped.

I'm pretty sure if you were Chad or something with 1/10 composure and Jason was in vicinity of the campsite or outhouses you are hiding in, he'd sense you. If you were a counselor that has 7+ composure or above, he probably wouldn't.

But let's say you had a encounter with Jason as Adam or something and you run away and hide in a nearby tent, in this case if Jason was in proximity of the campsite he'd most likely sense you because you encountered him so your fear is high.

So yes fear affects it.

All untrue... all counselors are invisible to sense before jason gets rage in a hiding spot regardless of composure..

So you're telling me if I was Chad with maximum fear hiding in a tent I wouldn't be found?

yes unless someone snitched out your location because chad will still be moan and scream...sense will never pick up any counselor in a hiding spot pre-rage

1) When playing as Jason i like to break hiding spots in those cabins or other buildings, which have only 2-4 of them and leave only one left. This creates more pressure to counselors. No one can´t be that dumb to hide at that only hiding spot. I also do this on those outdoor wooden WC´s and HH barn´s hiding spots (both sides of the entrance).

2) Another strategy would be to break those hiding spots which are closest to windows and doors. This forces counselors to hide farther from doors and windows -> It takes longer to escape through them -> more stamina is used. At least this is how i think it would be.

3) I also like to destroy more those cabins which have reapir items and guns.

@Aaron thanks that's a helpful video.

I've had a few occasions now where I'm Jason & the last counsellor is in a house but I can't find them in time. It turns out they're hiding behind a door frame or some other object. My question is if I spam sense when I'm inside a house/cabin will the counsellor eventually show up?

no you have to step outside the house to see the house light up and find them inside...block when stepping into rooms and spam sense inside to see if the counselor went out a window

Use your camera to rotate around corners and doorways (while standing still).  Some players hide in plain sight, and unless you have a keen eye- you can walk right by them.  Counselors are even more difficult to spot hiding in corners of cabins when the lights are off.
