Will the PC version have mod support?

Recommended Posts

Will the PC version support user-created mods?

If it does, I may decide to buy the PC version.  If not, I'll probably get the PS4 version.  Sorry if this topic was covered already; I did a quick search, but didn't find anything.

Chances are most Mods would initially include others jasons and such, which the creators would like to make themselves and get some (rightfully) earned funds via DLC, since the Jasons would have specific stats and are not simple reskins.

While not a big PC gamer l am a fan of mods. Solely for the purpose that if some creates something unique that becomes popular there is a chance of it being integrated into the game and improve the longevity and quality of the game.

Games that prohibit or try to put obstacles in the way to prevent mods in my opinion are doomed to fail. Closing the door to new ideas can make a game stagnant and boring eventually. While mods get the community involved and keep the creative process flowing.

Source is a prime example. Some great games and mods came out of Source. Making it almost an endless source of entertainment.

Wasn't counter strike originally a mod? As well as team fortress if I recall right?

Garrys mod is still my favorite though.

As we're some other less popular but super entertaining mods/games

I remember a revolutionary war game with muskets that took forever to reload. Spent a lot of time bayoneting people.  It was great.

Also,  The Specialist which was like the matrix meets Max payne.

And, the Hidden which was an asymmetric horror survival.

I also think portal had it's beginnings as a mod.

I completely forgot about the hidden. That reminds me of others like Zombie Panic: Source, or zombie master. I believe both of those are dead now but they were still loads of fun to play.

The Hidden was a great game. Sad it took so long for more asymmetric games to come out. Still aren't many good ones.

Evolve was the latest huge let down for me. The concept was great and with the left 4 dead devs at the helm i thought it'd be great. Instead we got a DLC shit storm with little content. And if you had one hunter on your team that sucked, good luck winning. So i just mained monster and obliterated everyone. THAT was fun at least but i felt bad after a while haha. I still feel burned after purchasing it for sixty bucks and now its free to play.

F13 seems promising however. It's odd how the game is intentionally unbalanced yet it seems to be balanced. I think Gun and Illfonic hit the asymmetrical sweet spot. But i guess we'll find out for sure on the 26th.

I'd be totally for cosmetic mods. More outfits and hair if someone is able to pull that off.

I would like to see more than cosmetic mods. I want some to try and make a Jason possession mod to see how the gameplay would be. Or add mark and his wheelchair.

You know stuff to try and change up gameplay. I'm not saying the mods will be successful or good but we could miss some great opportunities to expand gameplay without mods.

Of course nobody will be forced to play modded games. It would be completely voluntary

Cosmetic mods would be good too, but I like to see people experiment with gameplay. I'm not buying for the pc but if something is made that adds to the game there is always a chance it could Be add to other systems.

You know if they ever allowed mods, the first one would probably be a Michael Myers mod.. Replacing the music with the Halloween score would be fun too.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification.  Looks like I'll be buying the PS4 version!

PC version still runs and looks a lot better. Mod support shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Less and less devs are allowing it, and I completely understand why. It's not good for their business, despite what mod fans say to the contrary.
