So I was watching one of Wes’ streams the other day and he was asked a question about securing rights and he mentioned that sometimes the rights holders can get greedy, ultimately ruining a deal. He went on to say this had happened to Gun after they laid out a plan for a game but ultimately the rights holders got greedy.

So, I asked if this was before or after F13 and interestingly he said after. This leads me to believe that they may have already attempted to make Halloween but couldn’t secure a deal. Also, it would make sense since in January of 2019 Wes was tweeting Blumhouse, Ryan Turek and Jason Blum so perhaps at that point in time he had reached out but ultimately couldn’t secure the rights.

I hope this isn’t the case though because it would be a real shame if Gun couldn’t get Halloween since they would do it real justice.

I Think HALLOWEEN is too big of a game not to renegotiate.

Yeah same here! However he did say they can take ideas and mechanics from games like that to use for other games so something tells me they moved on from that project sadly. Let’s just pray it wasn’t Halloween though lmao!

Time will tell, we just have to wait until an announcement. When that will be nobody knows! I'm keeping an open mind as to what their next game could be, but in Gun's favour there is a fairly wide selection of horror movie to go for - if their goal is to go down the road pursuing rights. The bigger question will be what will the game actual play like, will we see a next gen game with very similar mechanics for online play like f13 or something completely different? How a new game plays could be a big impact on what sort of horror theme it has. It would be interesting to know how they decided development, was it first to secure a horror theme for a game or to first decide the basic mechanics of the game and then to lay over a horror theme to flesh it out? In my opinion the basic form of F13 was a real winner for online play and Gun wouldn't be doing themselves any favours to ignore this in a new game. Be it Halloween or something else they could easily adapt F13 game mechanics into a slightly different new game with hopefully a lot of new features. This would make the games environment more interactive and more immersive.

Yeah I definitely think the next game will be super similar. When asked about the next game, Wes constantly says “well we specialise in asymmetrical horror multiplayer games” which may be a way of him saying “this will be similar to F13”. Hopefully it is anyway because F13 was super successful, just the lawsuit causing lack of dlc was what harmed it.

Did Wes Keltner ever mention Halloween by name.

I Think Miramax and Taric Akkad hold the rights to a Halloween license.

I Just wish we could get a hint.

Id like to see Gun media get Halloween and Texas Chainsaw massacre.

Halloween may still be the game that Gun media is working on.

If its Halloween im thinking it will be announced this October 2021.

I Hope the deal with Halloween license isnt ruined.

Just remember to not get any hopes too high, licensing for these things is a seriously difficult world.

if anybody can produce one of the all time classic horror titles & do it video game justice, its gun media. that i can say with all confidence. although, my honest opinion is, i hope they are working on their own title. a brand new, original concept for the story, characters, ect. a original horror villian with their own backstory. the connection to the classic horror we all know & love would be thru the people they work with on the game. the music composer, the motion actors, the concept artists, they can all be horror icons, just as they did with F13 hiring the likes of tom savini, jazz soloist harry manfredini, and kane hodder.

this way, they can avoid most problems they had with friday the 13th. they will also own the rights to their own character, adding to the vaule of their own company. gun has an oppertunity to create what could possibly become their own classic series in horror history. after the exposure they had from producing a big name like friday the 13th, now would be the time for an original piece of work.

If Dead by Daylight can get a license to use Halloween carachters then Gun media can make a complete Halloween game.

I can definitely see a halloween game happening i would love it

I Just wish Gunmedia  would ask us what we want to see in the next video game.

We all ready know from Kane Hodder saying that Gunmedias next game will be a huge horror franchise video game.

My question is what kind of costumes and dance emotes can we add.

If its a Halloween game then costume Halloween packs and face paint should be an option.

Costumes like Kiss Costumes, Universal Monster costume pack,Star Wars Costume pack.etc

Also Opening Gunmedias next big Horror game to Mods and special and weird game modes.

They're not going to open a big name franchise to mods. Haven't we learned anything yet?

Eh, doesn't really matter. I could see the same thing happening here that happened to F13, with perhaps some slight differences.

Step by step

1. Big kickstarter

2. Game comes out in 2023

3. Robot Android from Halloween 3 as kickstarter exclusive with all the best powers...hence he's called pay to win...course, this is discovered post launch

4. Kickstarter clothing pack

5. Christmas 2022 Beta featuring Halloween 1 Myers, Halloween 2 Myers and Rob Zombie's H1 Myers as playable as well as 4 or 5 babysitters

6. Game gets delayed until a summer release

7. Game starts off with a sluggish launch but does well to pay homage to the Halloween franchise

8. Casuals and trolls start complaining about Myers being too strong, hence he's intentionally and unintentionally nerfed all throughout 2023, making the playerbase leave in droves

9. Many bugs and glitches never get patched out over the fall of 2023

10. Casuals and trolls start complaining about the size of the maps, hence they release Haddonfield Small, Hospital Small and Silver Shamrock Small over the fall as 'DLC'

11. Halloween 4 Myers and an aged up Jamie Lloyd as DLC combined with a Halloween 4 themed map for Xmas 2023

12. Laurie is the hero character, but hackers datamine the game to discover that Loomis will be a new hero character in a future DLC map planned for 2024

13. Halloween 2018 Myers and a Halloween 2018 map for DLC come out in spring 2024 along with a Laurie 2018 skin alternate for the hero character

14. Playerbase in 2024 starts to dwindle very low due to lack of bugfixing and playtesting, Gun decides to pull the plug on the game citing cost, but without saying the real reason which we all know...the playerbase leaving

Poof, Halloween the game dies around a year after its release, no different than F13.

You know i dont want to hurt your feelings but i keep noticing a strong attitude of superior knowledge from you.

You seem to always know more than anyone else or at least you believe that you do.

How do you know that Malek Akkad's film company Trancas Films wont approve opening the game to mods.

The Truth is you dont know.

I Can Explain, Wes Keltner said that it was so dog on hard to work with Horror inc and Sean Cunningham because every little game design had to be pre approved.

Wes Keltner said he will never work with Sean Cunningham and Horror inc again.

Wes Keltner NEVER said that every big horror franchise when it comes to video games must not be open to mods.

If a Halloween game happens and i think it will i want Halloween costume clothing packs and cool dance emotes.

Taking that as a compliment 😎

I doubt they'll do anything that could potentially make their franchise look bad.

Honestly I don't think Halloween is going to be their next Horror game. Could be wrong on that but it just doesn't sound like it. If it is, why would they have Kane Hodder do mocap for it?

Notice Kane said "Horror franchise." He didn't say anything about "big horror franchise." I'd bet my last dollar that it's either Hatchet or possibly Texas Chainsaw if it's actually a "big" franchise.

Don't worry about that.  Some people have a hard time understanding the difference between fact and opinion.

True but at the same time I have a feeling Gun would have definitely wanted to do Halloween after F13, what other licensed game would they have gone to before trying Halloween? Plus Dead by Daylight only has the rights to the original Halloween, perhaps Gun wanted the rights to at least the majority of the films but couldn’t get them? Having access to a majority of the films allows a wide range of playable Michael’s and even more movie characters.

I Posted a link above somewhere where Malek Akkad talks about a video game for Halloween after Dead by Daylight used the michael myers character.

I Think Gunmedia has got the rights for a Halloween game from Malek Akkad and Miramax.

Oh really? That’s super cool, I wonder what game they couldn’t get the rights to though, either way i’m just stoked that they are more than likely developing a Halloween game. Hopefully we hear news about their secret project sooner rather than later.

While we're speculating:

Take a close look when they go in for a close up on Kane doing mocap. On the right there appears to be a head on or behind a tripod. Jump to conclusions, and maybe it's just a camera man behind his camera. Could be, I guess. But pretty far up, isn't he? And no mask? Maybe it's more than just a head. Maybe even a full dummy (could even be an actor...kinda grainy picture...) wearing black, appearing to be hung up...on a hook, possibly... I can maybe make out raised up arms tied together at the wrists. Legs hanging down...

And look at the table between the tripod and Kane. There's an awful lot of chainsaw shaped silhouettes on that table. Could be a coincidence I guess. I'm sure at least some of them are computer screens. Maybe all of them. I know it's not exactly a clear picture. But damn, that's got a pretty good Texas Chainsaw feel to it, doesn't it?

I don't even know if they're still working on it, or if it's the project that's been scrapped because they couldn't make a deal with the rights holders. This could all be included with that for all I know.

I just feel like it would be a major slap to the face of horror fans if they didn't at least try to get Nick Castle to mocap Michael. Or even Courtney. Kane's just not it for me. Not even close.

Michael has to have a certain walk and movement. Courtney studied it and worked with Castle and still didn't quite get it right. Close enough, but still... Mess the simple stuff up and you'd ruin it for the pureists.

Assuming they are indeed making a Halloween game...I can only imagine the issues that could arise as a result, since the rights to the films are split between a bunch of different companies.

Halloween 1, 4 and 5 are owned by Trancas.
Halloween 2, 3 and the 2018 film + its sequels are owned by Universal.
Halloween 6, 7 and 8 are owned by Miramax.
Rob Zombie's Halloween I and II are owned by Dimension Films/The Weinstein Company

I agree with this. If they cast a mocap actor who doesn't have Michael's mannerisms down, it will take alot away from Michael and turn him into some generic brute slasher.

I also think the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game is a very real possibility, especially considering there's a upcoming film. Kane to me seems like he would make a decent to good Leatherface.
