What constitutes "Teaming"?

Since the word "Teamer" is used about 500,000 times a day on this forum, and everybody has an opinion about it, I thought it'd be interesting to know other players thoughts on some of the more "grey areas" that are more open to debate than others (If you're leading Jason to counselors, you are teaming...PERIOD. There is no debating that one).

I voted not teaming for all 3 questions.  Because i end up doing that that shit all the time.  

But i also think theres limit to it.   I mean, if im ignoring a certain counselor and that counselor does something to get my attention by annoying me,  i will kill them.

For me, sometimes i like to kill counselors in certain a order, maybe i want a specific counselors to be the final counselor alive.  Maybe i want a specific counselor to escape and survive.

For me, teaming is when Jason is in a call with the counselor and they both are being benefited from that. Ex: counselor tells Jason what other counselors are doing and Jason lets that counselor escape.

1 and 3 are usually signs of teaming, but not necessarily.  2 I have done before, but it could be viewed as teaming by the rest of the lobby. There really is no clear cut answers for any of the three, but 1 and 3 are usually seen when teaming is occurring.

There are definitely grey areas here, but when you see a counselor running side-by-side with Jason as Jason mows down everyone else in his path, that's absolute teaming.

I agree that none of those are necessarily "Teaming".   To me, "Teaming" is when a Counselor is actively trying to help Jason (letting him know where players are, opening doors for him, running people over etc).

Even counselors who rat someone out in order to save their own ass aren't "Teamers".  They are just a-holes who will most likely get what they deserve next round.

That's why I didn't include anything about snitching on players locations or leading Jason to hiding counselors; those aren't a grey area, there is no way you can be doing anything except teaming when you do them.  And yeah, I get called a teamer at times (and granted, there are some people I am simply not going to kill if I'm Jason and they're in there with me) but it's usually somebody pissy about me letting the last counselor go.

At the end of the day.  The counselors are basically like an all you can eat buffet when you're playing as Jason.

The food doesn't get to call the shots.

Great Topic. I voted no on all three because the majority of the time (albeit a slight majority) I don't see these as necessarily teaming.  It kind of depends on Jason's reasoning for doing these things. I agree with Lam on this one, for me teaming is anytime one or more counselors are actively trying to help Jason. I don't even have a problem with Jason's who save their friends for last, just as long as those friends aren't fucking everybody else over by hoarding the keys, fuse, PK's etc... In that case it's definitely teaming whether Jason kills them in the end to make it look good or not.

Ironically, I get accused of teaming a lot as Jason just because of the way I play, even though there's no teaming going on whatsoever. I know not everyone agrees with me on this, but I've always seen it as Jason prerogative to kill who he wants in what order he wants if he's capable. If he decides he wants to stand by the side of the road at the police exit and wave to the counselors as they walk by, that's his choice. I've let people escape before just for making me laugh, refused to kill people if I get a grab I consider bullshit, and I've shift grabbed counselors right in front of the police exit just to casually escort them to the exit. I watched counselors try to fuck over other counselors by slamming doors or windows in another's face, and decided not to take the easy kill and go after the asshole. If I run into a 150 Vanessa early in the match,  you can be sure as hell I'm not chasing after that ass just yet. I'd rather save her for last anyway, there's nothing more fun while playing Jason than having a good one-on-one with a really good counselor at the end of the match.

A couple of weeks before the hack, I played a match where the only person left was Bugsy... I'd warped over to the two-seater where he'd just finished up putting the gas in. He'd somehow managed to put the gas and the battery in without alerting me, with a trap at the battery. You bet I let that ass drive off and escape. Was that teaming? No, he  earned that shit.

Sometimes when Jason is in hot pursuit, he may be led to another counselor by coincidence. I've seen instances where someone hides, and Jason loses sight of them, and pursues someone else. I don't always see that as teaming, though others might.

Teaming is subjective, though consistent instances with the same players match after match makes it easy to spot.

There have been plenty of times I have seen Jason doing a kill with a long animation and I have run up and done some sort of emote (usually a thumbs-up if I didn't like the player that was being killed) and then run away.   And I can assure you it wasn't because I was teaming.

I don't have a problem with emoting or dancing.  I do take a bit of an issue with tea-bagging because I find it lame and over-used.   But if you get bent out of shape about emotes then you are probably taking the game too seriously.

Some circumstances I can see. If you had a choice to go after Deb or Chad, I would ignore Chad at first and go after Deb. I think repair counselors are highest priority, and that sucks for me because I main Deb for that reason. Deb, Lachappa, AJ, Fox, and Adam are my omega priorities.  I will ignore Vanessa, Bugsy, and Chad unless they do something stupid like walk into my fist.  Tiffany is usually a target of opportunity. So to those that don't know how I play, I can understand why they think I'm teaming. I hate killing Deb, but it's nothing personal.   You have to harden your heart to it, or you can watch the taillights fade in the distance. And I trap the shack, plus mama will let me know if someone's raiding her wardrobe, so the noisy counselors can wait.  Yes, that line of thinking has bitten me in the ass, true, but overall I've had more success with it. Yeah, I thought about that after I posted it. I should have added something about following Jason around because you're right, there are exceptions to dancing while Jason kills a fellow counselor.

I've done that without teaming with Jason if the person dying is someone who has annoyed me during play.

One and three are arguably not teaming. One can be a sign of tactical player as can three. 

Two can be a sign of a lazy player and/or your dinner is ready in the oven and you gotta run to get it out before it burns however number two seems to me to be the most "teaming" like option.

I've actually 'teamed up' with random counselors a view times..   just for a laugh.

Every once in a while i get some random begging me not kill him.  Saying he would help me.     I don't talk when im Jason, so i just stare at him and follow him.

Thing is, its not like anything hes doing actually helps me.  Im just playing along waiting for perfect moment to kill him.

I remember the last time i 'teamed up'.    Just followed him to a house and he led me to a counselor (Which i already knew was there anyways)   He starts dancing next to me infront of the fire place as i killed another player.

Dancing next to the FIRE PLACE...   LOL!

Anyways his mic cut out as he died yelling at me for surf boarding his face in the fire place.

I kinda tend to do the same thing. If a counselor plays well and isn't a tea-bagger/dancer/troll then sure, I'll let you find a weapon or finish a repair, or I'll step back and let you get out of the bathroom you stupidly trapped yourself in before I resume trying to kill you. If you're crippled, out of med spray, and 20 feet from the police exit, yeah, go ahead and limp your hobbled ass out of here.

That's funny, I literally just did a couple of these examples last night. My personal favorite was a miced Tommy on Jarvis House a while back. If found him entertaining and he only half knew what he was doing, so I took it easy on him until the end. He was the last one left and had just finished fixing the boat when I found him, which led to a hilarious negotiation involving hookers and tacos. I'd already decided I was letting him go, but that didn't stop me from fucking with him by racing side-by-side with the boat to the exit, and the entire time he's jokingly panicking convinced I'm going to flip the boat on him at the last second. Sometimes it's more fun to make someone think you're going to kill them at the last second than actually killing them.

That's a grey area in itself though. There's a difference between teaming, and Jason deciding to let somebody live because he feels like it. Some people just can't see the difference. I'm a little disappointed I never got those tacos though.

Last time I got called a teamer for that, I pointed out that I was originally planning on killing them (them being the survivor I let go) but changed my mind because they wanted to die fighting me 1v1 and even when their weapon broke they ran in a cabin long enough to get another one and came back out to keep fighting. I respect that, so I told her to go find keys and escape.
