I don't think this sort of game should be evenly balanced. The scale should always tip in Jason's favor.

To people new to playing Jason against skilled counselors. Throwing Knives and just hacking at them is your friend when they are in groups. Grabbing them or shifting is not the preferred method unless you can get them alone or are quick enough to spin the picked up counselor toward the person trying to hit you to negate a stun.

A lot of people probably don't remember the early days where you could unlimited chain stun Jason with Bugsy/Chad/Tommy and a baseball bat. Like no cool down on stun, right out of it to back stunned and a lot more Jason deaths.

Practice early game strategic trap placement, never place them all. Happy hunting

How about if when Jason kills, grabs or slashes the counselor carrying his mask, it gets dropped and he can put it back on again. Then it's back to square one to knock the mask off. Similarly, if the mask is just left on the ground he can put it right back on. It's true to the films as Jason puts his mask on in a few of them. Most of the time when people pk out of grabs they instantly go to pick up their weapon. This forces the counselor holding the mask to make a decision if they pk out of a grab. That and make quick block an actual quick block where it is instantaneous, and I think the problem is fixed without having to fuss with hit points or debuffing perks.

I understood the point of the timer. I think it's a bad idea, because if you give me 15 minutes of not needing to worry about my mask being on, I'll be able to mow through people. At that point I can play mindlessly aggressive. Returning quick block alone would be a huge buff. Add in invincibility frames, and a mask hp buff, and Jason will be in a great spot. At that point I'd just add power being out so the Tommy call requires at least some effort.

All they would have to do here is put an icon on Jason's map to indicate where the CB radio is so Jason can knock out the appropriate electrical box at the beginning of the match.

Unfortunately the devs have said that's not going to happen. I've been hoping they might be willing to have the match start with the power out throughout the camp as a compromise.

This is the entire point of an asymmetrically balanced game... such as this game.
We are almost there already... but so long as we are seeing Jason die in even 3 out of 10 matches... it will NEVER be there... For those that can't do math... 3 out of 10 is still 30% success rate... That does NOT translate to rare.

EXPERT TIPS FOR THE "JASON IS WEAK" CROWD:

Tommy box Tommy box Tommy box.

And Tommy box some more.

You say it's not easy but it's literally 1 out of 3 at worst on most maps. Guaranteed if you see it in the intro. So make an attempt. If you hit it trap it. If you're in a kill lobby and miss the box on the first try go for a second attempt. One of them being closest to the phone box so you can go for multiple objective control. Always go for 2 if you're running pt 2 Jason and miss the box on the first try. If you get it then defend it. If someone trips the trap, then you know you're dealing with a kill squad. This alone will save you from a kill squad MOST of the time. You will NEVER be safe if you don't at least attempt it.

Tommy boxing is an especially good strategy if you're in quick play because 99% of the time the members of the kill squad will be less than the full lobby. So if you have 7 counselors and only half of them are looking for the box the odds of you finding it first increase. I don't always hit the right box the first time but the lobby still doesn't get Jarvis called very often when I'm Jason.

You sound like one of Jason's victims just standing there screaming when you should be defending yourself...

Note to bad Jasons everywhere:

If you're playing Crystal Lake small, nine times out of ten the Tommy box is the Northeastern most box on the map. Just saying...

Oh and your priorities in order from most to least important are 1) Tommy box 2) phone 3) 4 seat car 4) 2 seat car or boat

Check your map religiously and maintain spatial awareness of where you are on the map at all times

ALWAYS keep in mind what direction those noise pings are coming from because that's where the counselors are...

Most kill squads don't run counselors that are the least bit stealthy because AJ isn't demasking Jason for shit with that low luck

If they set a trap off at the two seater (or any other trap in this scenario) but you see lots of noise pings coming from the direction of the Tommy box then they're most likely trying to bait you. Don't fall for that shit. In fact if you ever see noise pings coming from the direction of that box it's probably a good idea to investigate...

TIPS FOR KILLING THE SQUAD MEMBERS:

This applies to anyone that has a sharp weapon

Knife block and slash ONLY if they're in groups. DO NOT attempt a grab against multiple counselors period but especially if they have sharp weapons.

Use block wisely. Meaning don't just stand there stuck in block like a big dumb potato 🥔

Maintain spatial awareness and choose your battle ground wisely

Ok so you know for a fact that you're in a kill lobby. You can bet on 2 things. 1) they're going to try to call Tommy. 2) they're coming for that mask.

You should have already Tommy boxed so with a little luck you have the correct box under control with a trap. So that leaves Fox and Nessa searching for the box while the 2 Buggzys are frantically rifling through cabins looking for sharpies to come slap you with. At this time cautiously gain control of all other objectives. Be sure to grab any throwing knives you come across along the way. Don't worry about engaging the counselors unless someone touches your box. DO investigate any traps that are tripped but do so cautiously. After all you know about half the lobby isn't interested in escaping...

When the 2 Buggzys do find you:

Do damage with throwing knives before they get too close. This will get their fear working against them as well as remove 30 hp before they even get close

Pick your battle ground. They want that mask so they have to come to you. When that happens try to position yourself in an area where you can hit them AND have your weapon come into contact with something solid (tree, fence post, wall, rock, doorway, car) then you can take advantage of slash block (which does work perfectly fine off host) and will most likely cut them down quickly. Using the car would be ideal because your weapon will never get stuck.

Use combos

Practice slash block, knife block, and "the Tommy Jarvis" and use those techniques when you can

Remember you can shift through hits too. Jason can't take damage once shift animation starts so slash-short shift-slash is a good technique. Or if you have shift charged when you get stunned and some asshat is waiting to hit you with that "indefensible" heavy, shift through his attack and grab or slash him depending on if he's alone.

If you get one limping: immediately get right up on him either by running/walking or use shift if you can. Now enter combat stance and block. Use slash block at this point regardless of whether he's blocking or not. His buddies will likely try to heal him. DO NOT let that happen. Someone heals him: slash him then go back to block. He heals himself: slash him then go back to block. Whatever you do, don't let that animation finish. You will easily cut him down while his buddies waste hits on their weapons and try to heal him. Rinse and repeat until you thin out the flock. Grab kill the last or when they disperse.

With a little bit of luck you've successfully cleared out the two Buggzys and, because you were keeping an eye on noise pings, killed the two that were attempting to fix your power box. Now it's time to return to your regularly scheduled slaughtering and enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend.

Oh and remember this: Jason Voorhees never cared if people escaped his camp. He kills them because they're still there. Pretty simple guy actually... So don't get bent out of shape if a few people escape during the process.  The point is the kill squad failed. And Jason wasn't weak. He was a beast...

😃

P.S. If they do get the kill despite all your best efforts and using solid strategies like the ones I've listed, then they deserve the credit. Don't rage quit. Jason dies every once in awhile. Builds character... But I'm willing to bet if you use those strategies, you won't die 1:75 matches or anywhere close to it. And neither would any other Jason.
