You know what still amazes me about this game?

Recommended Posts

(This is not sarcasm or irony, I'm being genuine here)

Teamwork. That is what's always grabbed my attention most about this game (other than murdering cocky douchebags who believe themselves to have teh 1337 skillz).

I've played a lot of online multiplayer games of many different genres, but I honestly think this is the one where teamwork comes the most naturally (assuming you're playing with decent teammates and not trolls). Even for very new players, no one has to tell them to hit Jason to free a teammate or cover a repair counselor while a repair is made.

No one hesitates to spray a limping counselor if they have spare first aid, or drop surplus firecrackers or other supplies. Anytime I've ever played sweater-girl, I've always had players either give me spare PKs or med spray, or escort me around as a makeshift bodyguard. And I can't even count how many times I've been limping to the cops with Jason right behind me only to get saved at the last second by someone I didn't even know was there.

Personally, I find this aspect one of the most rewarding parts of playing this game (again, aside from murdering cocky douchebags who believe themselves to have teh 1337 skillz). It's a great feeling to escape/survive as a team, especially since technically, everybody could lone wolf it if they wanted to. You don't HAVE to work together, but most players do, and that's what makes the difference.

Sometimes I play as a team player and sometimes as Tommy, I escape alone. Depends on the mood.

Most of the time, Im the objective type player. I find going for the Jason kill to be the most boring aspect of the game simply because its pretty easy to pull off with a couple decent players and Jason is powerless if he's got the whole team alive trying to kill him mostly. His only real chance in that scenario is dealing with a smaller group and even then.

Teamwork is great for counselor side. Problem is I can see why some lobbies probably have a bunch of solo dolos, because sometimes teamwork makes it too easy for counselor and incredibly difficult for Jason. Sure Jason can beat team oriented lobbies if they get sucked into one objective or two. Like the phone and car in the same location. Or if the lobby has some do nothings, objective types and kill Jason types but again.

Great thread, even if I don’t have anything to add. 😆

You add enough just by showing up, my friend.

It's good to know the gaming world isn't completely full of self-centered individuals. Now if we could bring more of that into the real world.

You're lucky, the teamwork in my game is not the same. And I don't have the manual to avoid trolls. 😬

I have good matches too, but you have to sort the lobby.

It’s always a great feeling when you find yourself in a lobby that works together & looks out for one another.

@HaHaTrumpWon I had a similar situation shortly after I first started playing. I was limping to the cops with Jason right on my ass, I got one swing in & broke my weapon over his head & then debated should I even bother trying at this point? I still had a good ways to go, Next thing I know I’m surrounded by 3 people walking me to the cops. Best feeling ever when you know you SHOULD OF died, but you made it thanks to the help of others.

I loved the teamwork part of this game but now, like in Mayday's video, you will find alot of people like that who troll you just for fun.

I remember at launch in Higgins Haven where someone called the police and we all met up at the road beside the main house and walked as a team with Tommy Jarvis to the police. Those were the days... (seven of us Jason as didn't appear to stop us after the police arrived.)

Last time I got to play, there was a random Vanessa doing her best to change my view of a Vanessa’s in general. As Jason guarded the four seater, mostly by trapping/slashing and I was solo repairing it, she just kept appearing and dropping Sprays. I’d back off, Jason would drop a trap, I’d waste his Shift juking around the single cabin, tank the trap, lead him on a run and put in the objectives. Everytime I backed off she’d run up teabag and drop a Spray. It was weird but sweet, I had to die to get the car started but it was ok, good match.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s not an accurate representation of the majority of lobbies which include: speed looting, hoarding, teaming. Teamwork is actually rare which does make it more impressive to see.

Saying that “no one hesitates to spray...” is laughable. No one hesitates? No one? Really? That’s a grossly inaccurate statement. It would be more apt to say that “In my experience, some players won’t even hesitate...” to say that no one hesitates is arguably factually incorrect as prayers consistently die and drop multiple sprays yet had recently refused to heal other counselors. This happens more often than the generous spritzing that occurs in your world.

As well, I don’t know what lobbies you’re In where people are giving away PK, it’s just not realistic. Way too many times have I witnessed players with multiple pocket knives waste them by being grabbed consecutive times yet still dying anyway. Rarely will TJ even give away his precious PK because he likely died early and doesn’t want to do the same again even though he’s there to help. You know how it goes. I love the attitude and idealism in the OP more than the accuracy. Wear rose-colored glasses today and you’ll be wearing blood-slathered ones tomorrow! You’re doooomed.0

I've got tons of video to back up everything I have claimed. Maybe you just piss off the rest of the lobby enough they simply don't want to help you.

EDIT: Yes, it's more accurate to say SOME counselors.

I’ll help others if I can, but if I’m honest, helping others is what gets me killed the most. By lone wolfing it I wind up surviving far more often than not, but ultimately it gets boring fast to play that way.

Entitlement and selfishness are two reasons why certain lobbies in Quick Play are as bad as they seem to be.

This describes my experience perfectly, ha.

Most matches there’s one or two people worth saving, identifying them is the hard part. It’s the reason I’d most want a score screen that shows who’s done what during a match. If there’s ever a sequel I really hope it tracks the whole match, I’d even like to know how many doors are locked or traps laid by specific players (and if they caught survivors). There’s a lot of information to be gleaned from being able to see that type of thing and it would help you decide how to play the next match.

I think some kind of milestone screen would be nice, perhaps showing deaths vs escapes or number of repairs made. If I'm going to give my only PK away, I'd prefer it go to someone who I can verify as actually playing instead of trolling.
