Is the Return of Michael Myers mask underrated?

I agree, zombie didn't really get the original depiction of micheal myers.

That a kid from a seemingly ordinary family just snaps without motive and kills. That he escapes and returns to the town, wears a mask, stalking and killing teens for no reason makes it so chilling. He's a complete psycho.

Rob zombies version was typical his style, with scum bag trashy characters. Making Michael a poor victim of a bad childhood etc. Was horrid.

The third act which played similar to the original wasn't bad, but it just doesn't get anywhere near the brilliant original 78'.

We are on the same page on what made the original so special!!

also by the end of the film the ideas and beliefs of Dr. Loomis are completely justified!

Michael was stab in the eye, stabbed in the chest and shot 6 times..... and just got up and walked away.... to quote my second favorite character in all of the series..  “This isn’t a man.” Through out the film Dr. Loomis preaches how dangerous this individual is and can be...none of the other doctors/ police  grasps this untill the end of the film.

John Carpenter builds the movie up to this incredible moment for the audience ....”was it the bogeyman...?”

“As a matter of fact it was.” Is the answer..

Zombie never captures that in both of his films you just have crazy, trashy, non likable characters through out...not even a hint of the true “Shape/ bogeyman.”

Yeah zombie tried to humanize Michael way to much....it sounds like a Anger problem with mental illness Instead of being "The Shape"....
