I am currently very...

I'm hoping where I live will consider doing the same, but our government is run by old dinosaurs that're failing at doing anything right. There's been a recent case for a kid who's needed cannabis oil to stop serious seizures and the Home Office refused initially. After a mountain of pressure, they've finally relented and allowed him to have it. It's been quite well publicized so I'm hoping it'll help sway some opinions in favor.

The only difference this makes for a lot of us here in Canada is dependable access to quality cannabis. As far as the law is concerned, recreational smoking has been "legal" for quite some tine. They just wanna tax it and get their cut now. We've had several pot cafes in Toronto since the late '90s/early 2000s - you just can't (officially) buy product there - you have to bring your own. But you can freely smoke your stuff there. Some even offer you bong rentals and a budtender to serve you (pack bowls/roll for you).

On the street, cannabis that is clearly not for trafficking purposes and within reason (generally less than an oz, but still at the discretion of the officer) you're not facing any sort of charge or fine, unless you're violating one of our general smoking laws (not allowed indoors, or within certain distances of public building entrances). At worst, they'll take it. But it's really been in a legal grey area for basically as long as I've smoked it.

I've had cops take a .5 gram off my counter on a random night where a roommate had a nervous breakdown and thought there was a bomb in the the house, and I've smoked on busy city sidewalks, walking by several cops along the way and nothing happened. It's really a mixed bag. But it's loose. No one is doing jail time for weed here.

Access to stores and proper strains, THC/CBD% info, flavor profile info, oils, edibles, etc. is a good thing though. It's safer and people can get the exact strains they need to actually benefit from it. I got my medical card and have had access (online) to that kind of stuff for the last 4 months now. It's been great. Gets mailed right to my house and I get all kinds of quality strains and can choose exactly what I want.

What a country!

This is why it's better than before. Before you could get a mixed bag of crap (not a single bag, just in general), finding a new dealer if you don't like what they're selling is just time I don't want to spend.

That kid reminds me of a little girl in Canada that was having 200 plus seizures a day, her story helped change a lot of people's minds, now she has a few small one each month not ever damn day. Just a couple of drops of oil makes the world a better place for her to be in.

I'm sure that outside of a few very strict countries that times are changing. You're not going to have to wait forever. We are a common wealth country, so you could immigrate. Edit - looks like you plan to. Lol

I've never had problems finding it even though it's just "decriminalized" in my state. Only real difference is the potency and variety. First time I went to Colorado (where it's totally legal) I was like a kid in a candy store. Most of it (that I've tried from a dispensary) is about the same potency as what I can get at home. Last time I went, I brought my own shit with me and mostly just bought edibles lol

Knowing the right people means you can get it in the mail, but that's still a federal offense that will fuck up your life if you get caught (in the US).

Every one move to Toronto, we can start an gaming group to keep F13 alive. I started writing this as a joke but that would actually be pretty cool. I'm not quite sure if I'm still joking.

Also it's a pretty nice place.

In all seriousness, I've been wanting to get out of here for a while. Not necessarily the country, but at least the state.

I love how every time there's a story like this, there's a picture like that lmao

I always wondered how well the border would be patrolled around the lakes. Can't imagine there are too many people trying to get there that way, but it would be an easy way to smuggle drugs and shit.

Decriminalized isn't the same as legal.

It's legal on the state level in California and several other states. He can smoke freely and go to the store to buy it. I have to hide the fact that I smoke and have to find a dealer for it. If I get caught with it in my possession I get a ticket (got one for $640 a few years ago in Wisconsin, but half of that was "destruction of state property") but he would only get a ticket if he was caught smoking near an entrance to a building or in parks and shit.

I thought he meant it was legal in Canada, which it is now but before it was only decriminalized. Which is why I have also received a ticket in the past.

A lot of employers stopped testing for marijuana as well

When I lived in Washington, the Indian casino I worked for still tested for it, until they had to turn away too many qualified applicants just for testing positive. They quietly stopped testing for THC,  and a year later became the first native tribe to sell marijuana in the country.
