"We may be going through a rough patch with the Emblem System, but at least we're not Friday the 13th"

You know, after all this, I'm actually interested in whether or not Gun Media/IllFonic is going to retaliate with a burn of their own.

Why would they address some random Reddit user?

They wouldn’t, unless it gains traction which I doubt it will. Just another random complaint post.

Dedicated servers? IllFonic says they can’t add dedicated servers because of the engine they used.

Unrelated, 5,000 posts...

Hm? What's this about dedicated servers, BoB?

Also, congrats guy. You're unofficially the most chatty guy on the forum, I think.

I've played them both, and would take Friday the 13th in it's most broken state over DBD, but that's me.

Yeah because you know Jason actually kills people in Friday. Dead by Daylight has a bunch of "Killers" that hang people up instead of killing them. They should call themselves "Hookers" instead.

That post Shifty made in the About Game section saying the new engine is required for dedicated servers, for consoles.

And thanks- I honestly think it’s just a product of how many arguments I let myself get drawn into.

I don’t check in much anymore.  When I did the other day I saw a post that the April update is now at least weeks away and they will have to fix other issues if they arise.  That screams months away to me.  Then I saw there is uncertainty with the license over litigation.  That makes me wonder even more.  Kinda can’t help but guess they now have license uncertainty as an excuse to not reinvest revenue into the game as much as would have been expected, and that they are next going to say a few months from now their new salt engine made dedicated servers unneeded. Sorry, but these updates we were expecting since last August or September and still no eta other than, I guess, that dedicated servers come out months later than new engine.  and bulshit they didn’t realize till end of April that April wouldn’t happen for update either.

The litigation doesn't effect already created works, Miller would have to sue Sean separately, claiming he licensed it to avoid paying Miller a cut. It only effects how much Miller can make off the name in the future.

To be frank, if DbD actually went so far as to call out FF13th the Game, it's obvious they see this game as a legitimate threat. FF13th was the third highest selling PS4 game in 2017 for a reason.

FF13th isn't as polished, and does need some changes (e.g. Stealth/Strength being more relevant), but given enough time this game could become something special. It's already a reasonable fun game as it is now, so when the game engine update finally comes I have to wonder what kinds of changes we'll see in the future.

On console, if F13 is the third highest selling game last year then you would like to think it will be wiping the floor with dbd on player numbers but who really knows?

I, personally, haven't played DbD.

That said, I HAVE watched many hours of it being played by YouTube gamers.

On the good side, DbD has:

  • Great horror music
  • Immersive visual ambiance
  • Scary killers
  • Franchised killers

On the VERY BAD side, DbD has:

  • Repetitive gameplay
  • Unrealistic situations
  • A very basic "Point A to Point C" mechanic (Do this, do that, escape like this. The End.)
  • Generators and hooks, generators and hooks, generators and hooks, generators and hooks . . .

As for me, I will always stick with F13. The gameplay there, coupled with what WILL be coming, what SHOULD be coming, and what COULD be coming is enough to keep me a loyal fan.

But hey, that's me.

Those are brutal numbers. Imagine if this game didn't have so many small problems, and it took forever for patches/updates. Dead by daylight bores me, and i love the concept of F13, but playing the game in the current state is a waste of time.     This game has been hovering around 700 players on PC for a few months, so I guess its sort of "stable" but those numbers are still embarrassing.

If you had the power, what would you do that would help F13 to become a far superior game?

The numbers are what they are but I own both, and put many hours into DbD, but I doubt I will ever go back to it again.

The game itself - the mechanics and such - are pretty tight...it gets developer attention, and it was truly the first game in my entire gaming career that gave me that anxiety/fear feeling....but the community is just such a toxic waste dump. You think troll are bad here? lol. They sap any and all enjoyment that could be had out of that game there.

I hit quickplay in F13 and I find a match in under a minute, every time. In DbD it's not uncommon for it to take me 15 minutes to find a lobby in which the killer isn't afraid to go up against a medkit and repair kit. Life as a skilled killer is nothing but abuse, even if you don't use the "OP" killers, even if you don't "tunnel" and follow every little weird ettiquette protocol the community has home-brewed.

For all it's shortcomings, I still have much, much more fun with F13 than I ever will with DbD.

Theres no need to burn them back

Dead By Daylight is a joke.       The KILLERS don't KILL.

Oo. wait.  They do kill, but only if they have a special item equipped and the time is right.    Sort of like an old limp dick man who found a half a Viagra pill under the couch AFTER he paid a hooker to come over.  Lucky HIM!

I mean running around smacking things and wiping it off can be fun.  But i prefer going all the way.

DBD =  just a Tease.       F13th = Jason goes the all the way.

Someone call me when DBD killers learn how to get it up..  Because i sure was hell don't want to play a game where the serial killers have performance issues.

@AldermachXI I appreciate the statements, as well as a person who can differentiate the proper "they're" "their" "there".

@xllxENIGMAxllx try punctuation. May help us process your thought track and posts better.

A tragic thought here is that F13 just had a sale which created an inglux of new players in that amount.

I think its the polished factor, better servers and basic objectives(which I prefer objectivesand kills from F13th) in that make DbD more popular. As well as the library of killers to play, the ability to pick Killer or Camper. Bonuses for people quitting. More frequent updates. Balance will always be an issue for both games simply because you cant please every player.

Ah ok. I was thinking something was said that led you to believe we were not getting them.

Indeed. You and I both on that one.

Im not sure what point they have.

The only thing DBD can boast about is their player count.  Because if they start talking about game play, map design and actual killers.  There isn't really anything there.

At this point thats like a Fortnite player saying  "At least we're not Vermintide 2"   Just because Fortnite has more players.   (And thats all you got)

Well, Less Bugs, More Updates (Quicker Ones), Not so much of a Shitty RNG Perk System.

Need More?

P.S I Do like F13 As well, But in it's current state, DBD Is Much superior

DBD has ONE kill per killer, and can only be used with a specific item equipped at certain moments.

DbD can put all the updates the want.   Seems to me they are missing the most important aspect of having a MOVIE slasher in their game.  The killing.

DBD with all its so called updates and less bugs is still an inferior game when it comes do map design, game play and kills.

Sigh, I never said anything about DBD Having better Map Design, Although I Actually Like Some of the Maps more than Pinehurst (Gideon Plant, The Forest one, Forgot the name), DBD Is Focused around a Different type of "Story", And It's not all about slashing everyone to death, Also I actually Prefer the Stealthier aspect of DbD

You can really escape if you are the Last Person Alive, By getting to the hatch!

Although in F13 That Is Made Harder because Jason Has Not One, Not Two, But three abilities to track you down (Three because of Improved Sense in Rage), I mean you could hide, But Jason will still find you because Of Sense, Or because he entered the cabin you were in and Your counselor screams when he gets near to your hiding place.

Stealth Aspect of DBD > Stealth Aspect of F13
