Where are the Beta Animations? It's been said before that beta animations probably aren't coming back, one of the guys from IllFonic went into why. I'm not sure where his post is (sorry).

Thank god you atleast finally acknowledged it. From what I can tell from researching about this for the last hour. It seems like they were taken out to reduce framerate loss or lag. Which, if you're upgrading the Engine, shouldn't the game be able to handle the Beta Animations now?

Hello Friday the 13th: The Game players and fans,

As many of you are aware, we have been targeting an April release for the next major update to Friday the 13th: The Game since our announcement that the game would be moving to an updated version of the Unreal game engine. We have known that hitting a date in April was ambitious, and a best case scenario, but we believe that people should strive for their best.

Today we have been forced to accept that the update will not be able to be released in April. The update is shaping up nicely, but there are still a few issues that we need to iron out to ensure the best gameplay experience for our players, and we still need to pass the patch through console certification. Our goal is to make sure the work is done right, and that meant we needed some extra time with it.

Why didn’t you release on Friday the 13th of April?
This update has been a massive endeavor. The game engine upgrade alone means that the team at IllFonic has had to go over every system in the game and check, tweak, or recreate it. They have been doing amazing work at an intense pace throughout the update process. We are incredibly proud of their progress and everyone at Illfonic and Gun are anxious to get the update out and into the hands of our players. However, setting a hard release date, with the amount of features and upgrades included, would have only served to undermine IllFonic’s work for the sake of hitting a specific day. The game, and our players, would have suffered from it.

When is the update coming?
We are in the later stages of finalizing, but we are not yet at a place in the process where we can state a specific date with certainty. All of our major reworks and new features - updated game engine, Single Player Challenges, Victoria, Bot AI Improvements, Weapon Switching, Legendary Perks, etc. - are in place in our development builds. However, we are at least weeks away from release, and if major issues are found we will work to solve them before release. What we do know is that there is no longer a possibility of hitting a release date in April, and we felt that we should let Friday the 13th: The Game players know.

Why is it taking so long?
This is, by far, the largest technical update to release for Friday the 13th: The Game. In addition to the implementation of our new and reworked major features, everything in the game needed to be checked over due to the engine revision change. That said, we realize that our players are used to an update every month or two, and we understand the disappointment of the update not being released in April.

What is “done”?
Every piece of “Thursday News” that we have released since February 9th, 2018 is finalized in the update. The engine upgrade is complete (there’s a comparison video lower in this post), Single Player Challengers are finished, as are Weapon Swapping, Keybinding, the altered Jason Grab, Legendary Perks, AI Improvements, the Salt Mines, Part 7 Jason rework, and Victoria Sterling. All of these features are in our development builds and are working well. Right now, we’re buttoning up the build.

Are you going to “surprise drop” this update?
No, the next update is a massive milestone for us and we will not be silent about its release date. We will be releasing communications about the update’s release before it comes out, and we will communicate the date as soon as it is certain.

Hey , Shifty what about performance on consoles will it be at 60FPS we all want that you know as the first look he seems like you put it darker with more saturation darker is good.

THAT SUCKS, how could someone decide that? they looked very realistic (not all maybe) look at this

BETA

IaXSWpzAjXlsLyHVs_wkDc3rZPjoTsIbp2TEJ5CJ

CURRENT

Jason would be scarier if he just moves more realistic, not like a weird cartoon robot

yes, maybe not all, for example counselors opening doors animations were too slow, they should only keep the nice good animations like this one

Too much noise for nothing i think. Disappointed from the preview. Just more glossy and darker. I play this game for quite some time and i don't remember anyone escapes with car in jarvis house and pinehurst (expect 2,3 times) with bad jason. Only boat and police. This maps are bad are very difficult for the counselors.

The engine update was a total freebie that they never promised, so I was never expecting too much from it. I just want the other goodies coming with it.

Thank you guys for the update, it is much appreciated!

Thank you guys for supporting my Posts and GIFS on the return of Beta Animations. Just because he said they probably won't return doesn't mean that they 100% never will. We just gotta keep fighting for them!

I'm not sure why people want these beta animations to return. Smooth, responsive gameplay is more important than animations that look pretty.

Agreed, plus there was a delay when stopping and running. People will get all pissy when that happens.

you're a bad counselor if you can't survive on those two the space alone is a plus for counselors

LOL this is ridiculous. The survival rate on every other map is much higher compared to the Jarvis house and Pinehurst.

Cool. I don’t really see any difference in this video though. It just looks.... darker.

Exactly. It looks like the current game with the gamma turned down to 1.85 which is what I have mine at. Smh. Not them taking a year to slightly improve upon some minutiae of graphics while the game mechanics have spiraled into into a sink hole of glitches and bugs. At least Fox’s shadow will be it’s appropriate shade as 3 kids team with Jason and trap me in doorway while screaming in Portuguese and teabagging my corpse.

if you're a good jason its much easier on original 3 than jarvis and pinehurst smaller space benefits jason not counselors

But bigger spaces also benefit him too. Objectives are spread apart. Easy to control. That also means parts are spread far apart. Cabins are too far apart and slower counselors can easily lose stamina before reaching the next cabin. Some fast counselors too.

If bigger spaces where beneficial to counselors, more people would survive on the bigger maps. But they don't.

Also, I've gotten the car started in 3 minutes into a match on a small map because every single car part spawned so close to each other.

More realistic lighting and textures...I like it!

Hoping some of the animations end up looking better as well and for less clipping.

Oh and for that ridiculous female hair flying around uncontrollably when escaping in the boat to be a thing of the past.

Personally I think smaller maps benefit the counselors.

You don't have to go far away to find objective items, you have a shorter distance to escape and kiting Jason from cabin to cabin is much easier when the map is smaller and the cabins are closer.  Crystal lake small - for example - you can easily kite Jason through 8 cabins majorly wasting his time taking others out and extending the time for them to get objectives done.   Whereas on Pinehurst or Jarvis, you'll have 3 cabins worth of kiting max.

I hope the extra add ons are better than the “improved” graphics. It’s like they just made the game darker and lubed up the counselors head to toe.

no they don't one the room counselors have to run is great and you really don't have to run unless he's basically right behind so most times you're not running full speed to lose stam plus main houses on maps are easy to lose him in and im not talking small maps only original 3 big ones small maps are for scrub counselors

? what is being improved because it just looks darker?

Not sure why people keep asking this... The shadows and lighting look  a lot better than before.
