I don't currently, unless it's a double xp event but back when I did, I played it as something to pass the time because I always wondered what an actual Friday The 13th game experience would be like, and this game delivered in that aspect, bugs and glitches aside.

I primarily played QP, so eventually the amount of teamers and host quitters got old and I stopped playing. Private matches, while far less toxic, are usually meta heavy and makes it feel less like Friday The 13th and more like a chess game of sorts, so I never really enjoyed those.

Well since this thread turned into something else I'll roll with it.

I love this game. It's potentially my favorite game of all time despite its flaws. Nothing will ever be 100% perfect and I can live with that. I think the team behind this gave us an exceptional game and their effort really shows. The maps are spot on in terms of the main houses matching he movie. You can see they paid attention to every last detail.

Growing up and being such a fan of horror, me and my siblings and friends didn't just play tag, I got many of them to play "Killer" lol a game in which one of us would be it(the killer) and the rest of us would try to escape from them until everyone was dead. It worked like tag. If you got tagged you were dead. I just loved playing that as a child. It was fun. We'd even pretend to be killers from the movies and move the way they did. So for this game to mimick that is amazing. It makes me feel like a kid again. I only wish it came out when I was actually a kid and was gaming all the time. I can't spend too much on it now because adulting comes with responsibilities. So I cherish the hour a day or every few days I can play.

This game feels so much like a horror movie it's insane. It really proves that in horror movies when people split up and don't work together, or when they're alone they are easy prey for the killer. It makes surviving even more challenging and rewarding. The ones who are running around like chickens with their heads cut off are very reminiscent of the people in horror films who are too distracted and let the killer get the jump on them. While the ones who do objectives or work together are like the final girl who didn't get caught up in the normal teenage stuff and had a fighting chance because they were the ones who were using their head and could best the killer. That's why I don't mind quick play. It works like intended, those who don't have good teamwork rarely survive while having good teamwork increases your chances of surviving.

Another thing I love is how we say we would never do the dumb things people do in the movies, and then we do just that when we're in the same position as them. I can't tell you how many dumb moves I've made that cost me my life. And it's fun to laugh about when the match is over.

Thats why, despite its flaws and despite the trolls, I love this game. And it's crazy because overall I do enjoy the Friday franchise, but the movies are bad. I'm much more of a Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street kind of guy. But this game had made me go back to the movies and watch them with an enjoyment I never felt as a kid. In a way it made me more of a fan of them. The devs did a wonderful job. This game is great and it still needs some work but that doesn't make it a bad game in any way, shape or form. Nothing will b perfect, which is why I don't get the hate. They will never be able to capture the movies 100% but dammit they did an incredible job trying and it shows. This is a game I only ever dreamed of and to be able to play it is great. But for those that hate it because it failed to meet their extremely high expectations, I don't understand why they don't trade it in or walk away. Or why they continue to put so much effort into something they hate and don't enjoy. It's like wasting your life in a sense. In the end it makes you look sad and miserable and if I were the devs I would never take your complaints seriously. Instead of giving constructive criticism you come across as a toddler having a temper tantrum and it's sad.

It's fun

I'm pretty good at it

I have met a lot of cool people online that I still enjoy playing with. Just to list a few, @Vaderspupil @RustInPeace @pioneer67fkd @ikarikh @Redrum138

Something to do with my wife

We have friends IRL that play with us as well

Hell yeah you're good at it! Lol! It's funny how I can go to QP to mess around and it's like taking candy from a baby after chasing you as Jason, or trying to survive YOUR Jason. You're the best man, and Bkb is alot of fun to play with too. All the players you listed are among my favorites too, you guys make the game fun. It might be super fucking hard mode, but playing with you all has made me so much better. And I consider you all friends, not just internet people but real friends. I wish we could all get together IRL for dinner sometime, I'm sure it would be so much fun. You guys make this game so much better, I'm really glad we all met and look forward to all the good times yet to come!

Because it is a game, and you play games...

Because it could be a worthy successor to the legacy of the series, which is flawed, this game could right those wrongs. It could be a separate but parallel version were the problems are fixed, the lore is explained and participated in. I can't think of any other game that has been given this opportunity.

The story can't be done in the games present state, but the Devs need to keep the interest of the player base while getting to the place they need to be. Modern gaming has changed repeatedly, with the state of gaming right now there's nothing stopping F13 from growing into something truly amazing, games can become popular years into their life, and change repeatedly over that life time.

Not posting information to the forum, is my only real complaint.

I feel the complaining on hear is an example of the silent majority vs the vocal minority Dichotomy. Those that are mostly satisfied with the game won’t speak up too often because they are enjoying their game experience, for the most part. (looking at you Dec patch, you know what you did.) While those who complain are extremely dissatisfied for one reason or another and feel strongly  compelled to share it, often in a negative way.

QFT

I post my threads from time to time about changes that need to be made, but I still have fun playing the game. I think what affects a lot of the complainers is they get their hopes up too high, and when a product doesn't meet their extremely high ideals then they get angry, but this happens to virtually every video game that is tied to a famous franchise.

are people on here really vocal about hating the game lol, seems they would not want to join.

Here is my thoughts and reasons for playing, its very fun with a lobby of friendly players you get to know and all play with, even though its a redundant game and there is no end basically, its very social, funny players make this game 1000x more fun than a no mic public group. to me this game is not scary, i don't think any change in the so called balance will make it scary to adults, however the occasional Jason morph right in front of you can get you by surprise, this game is all about the community, if the community goes away the game will die in my opinion. this is like roblox for adults, something to do while maintaining a group conversation and clowning around. it is very fun when you have a few drinks in you. think about it once you have hit max level but yet you keep playing over and over again until late why are you still there, surely its not to figure out where the battery is every time etc, its bc the group you have built up by weeding out the bad players is very fun to play with.

many years down the road when xbone has been replaced by one or two new consoles this will be a game that you just break out for nostalgia once in a blue moon like the old NES version is now, but for the time being there are tons of good players out there, of all age ranges, not all younger kids are all noisy and bad, a few are very fun players too. when you get a good group dynamic you will know because nobody will get mad if they get hit by the car or accidentally get shot by a tommy with bad aim, your waiting lobby chats are funny and people are cracking up and no one is getting mad. this game is all about the social connection immersed into a theme we all like "Friday the 13th"

this is where i see dead by daylight falling behind, now this is just my opinion so don't be mad, but dead by daylight has no in game chat, and no real mechanism to include all survivors and the killer from a common group waiting in a lobby to get the game going, they have poached a lot of really cool horror icons and put them in a blan environment that doesn't really due the killer justice. its too fast paced so you cannot have casual fun with it.

many of these horror icons would be better suited to their own games based on the mechanics of F13, of course different objectives and ways to survive or dispatch the bad guy, different maps, imagine freddy in this scenario, start out the same with a lobby and have the same chat mechanisms, but the way to live is survive the time without falling asleep by finding ways to keep you up, helping each other stay awake, being able to wake a survivor, all on a very realistic elm street scenario, killing freddy would require waking a survivor whos got ahold of freddy in the dream world and bringing him out, this could be somewhat not that challenging leaving freddy still with a lot of strength, you would have to set traps from him like they did in the movies, find the holy water, dig up his bones, etc. just random thoughts but i think they could have given him an entire game rather than just an appearance in a game collecting horror icons.

This game is a lot of fun. Even when I catch a bad break, experience a glitch or have to deal with QP morons I'm still having fun.  Hell, the other night while trying to game with @AldermachXI , I spawned in a cabin near the boat. In that one cabin I got a knife, the fuse, flares and the propeller. Jackpot! While installing the prop, another player came over and dropped the gas. We were going to be home free! Fastest escape ever! Until I took a throwing knife to the head. Jason (Aldermach) was on us. I panicked, got in the boat and took off hoping the other player was going to buy me some time. Nope. Alder tipped the boat about 20 feet from the dock and drowned me, then went back to shore to finish the other. Not more then a few minutes later the server crashed.

Even being the 1st person killed, and the game crashing I still had a lot of fun.

Obviously it the game isn't perfect (nothing is) but I hardly notice it's so called flaws.

I laughed when I read this. I cannot count how many times I have been running from Jason on packanack or Higgins map and run up stairs with no health spray, weapon, or escape route (which usually ends with jumping out of a window, falling and getting severely injured, and then trying to limp away before Jason can catch up). Or, finding myself cornered and trying to fight Jason with a pot (which is even funnier when I am successful at stunning him with such a flimsy weapon).  I always criticized the stupid chicks in movies for those kinds of decisions, but in the moment I find myself doing the same things.  It does make the game fun.  I often hear people on the mic raging while Jason kills them (many who seem to rage quit during the kill or right after)--- I don't get it.  When I am killed in the game I find it hilarious most of time.  Some people take this game way too seriously when playing.  lol.

Rage quitters blow my mind. Part of this game is dying. They act like they have so much to prove by trying to beat up a Jason so they can call him trash, and when he gets them they call the Jason a cheater or that he's trying too hard and then they quit because they're embarrassed that they talked all that shit and ended up getting their asses handed to them in front of 7 other people.

But anyway rant over. One of the stupidest things I've done is run right into Jasons trap, and then when I got out I tried to run again but didn't pay attention and stepped in a second trap and died lol

I am going to try to give some insights of what you were originally looking for. There are a ton of reasons why, but I dont know how long you have played this game to understand them?

1) they dont hate the game, they hate the bugs/issues with the game. There are still so many Day One bugs and issues still relevant. Everyone hates wasting their time. When you cant finish matches or earn what you worked for, wouldnt you be frustrated? To be on a killing spree with Jason and then be stuck with an action icon so you cant do anything? Fun....

2) this game is the best simulation of the movies. Whether its kills taken from the movie, the iconic looks of Jasons, Shelly and Fox, this is as close as you will get to playing the movies.

3) potential. Something this game has had since 2015. The biggest reason why people that dislike it check out each update. They hope for more, but ij thr past have only been given more bugs with each patch.

4) weapon wheels and such in the beta were taken out. Sure its coming back now after much arguing here and other social media outlets.

5) sold "exclusive" backer content. This is namely "Savini" Jason, but this symbolizes broken promises. Not to mention a seasonal employee steals enough codes to earn over 20k on eBay and yet nothing happens, nor even a generic blank statement.

6) you know they said they were working on dedicated servers over 9 months ago... yet we still dont have them. "Just stay positive and patient" even though you cant finish 4/5 games in QP.

7) broken backer promises. They just sent out signed copies nearly a year later. Still havent done Skype interviews. Some people got copies that basically had a sticker they had to put on themselves and a generic case when they ordered Steelbooks. There was the infamous "glue" delay, which is super professional...

8) little to no engagement with the community other than sarcasm and warning points unless its news from Shifty. Which will go into their transparency of things.

9) they announced a new game mode - Paranoia - last October(?) Maybe earlier, and apparently it was nowhere near done... wow, thanks for the trailer and dick tease.

10) at least we arent playing through a period of phone fuse dropping in the ground anymore, but game crashes are still prevalent.

11) level progression system is lacking. Our progression is based off RNG instead of skill or accomplishments. Casino slot style way of earning perks is lackluster and inconsiderate.

12) another reason I play games is achievements. You know how long its going to take to get 1000 matches as Jason? I have 30 days playing time investested and about 34% there. Fucking stupid, but I am a completionist.

Honestly, I like this game a lot. I love the kills. The objectives are way more engaging than DbD, though that game has more iconic killers. I think the lack of kills in DbD makes it boring. Also the lack of mic communication. This is one of the biggest problems in dbD. No talking to other players or the killer unless in a party is weak. This is a big reason why I still play F13th. Getting to talk to people, joke and bullshit, and have fun. Its fun to play in groups that role play, as well as serious groups that strategize together. You need mic communication to do it though.

Again, I really enjoy this game, but its basically one stale mode that hasnt performed as it should since Day one. People have the right to be upset with it or voice their frustrations on the forums or elsewhere. How else will gun and Illfonic know what to improve on withour feedback? A lot of the negativity comes from passion and hope for the game. People complaining shows care and them wanting to stick around and see something better. Dont we all want a long game life cycle for this title? I know i do. I also want to believe everyone at Gun does as well. Remember, most of the haters are just angry and passionate about it. They feel it can be so much more and done better.

I think...

I think for me. I will be uninstalling the game unless I get some concrete proof the update is coming this month or in May within what's left of April.

I haven't touched QP since forever. Offline bots are god awful boring right now and not worth farming whether its the regular amount, x2 or 130 percent. Compounded by perks being garbage now (since only about 7 or 8 matter) and will continue to be even with the 'legendary' nonsense.

The only reason im holding on is for singleplayer challenges, some concrete news on Uber/Grendel and perhaps the idea that the devs will come to their senses and realize some sort of singleplayer counselor mode is a MUST. Some way, some how. For those who actually enjoy playing around with counselors, its only fair to them that some kind of mode is introduced for them in singleplayer just like with Jason. Nobody should have to tolerate the cesspool that is QP if they don't want to and right now, you only get to enjoy the fruits of Jason in singleplayer fashion and that's not fair. Especially if you want the experience in reverse.

If I don't get some kind of concrete direction of where this game/update is heading by the end of April, whether its the actual update in April or a concrete date in May. I'm absolutely going to uninstall. So that's the answer to the OP question. I may lurk around to see what's what, but I'll be done with the game and done posting most likely. As it is, I have no hope that QP can be salvaged unless serious work is done besides merely changing item spawn ratios.

Melissa/Victoria, Part 7 changes, weapon swap, key binding, engine update are simply not enough for me to expect this thing is going to undergo a major revision.

Single player as counselors has already been snubbed. They have said it isn't happening due to how hard it would be to do the Jason AI. Hate to say, but it will never happen. And if it does, I will be shocked.

I know this thread is ancient, but I still play because this game is the most fun out of any other in my steam Library. Even with a bunch of randoms in QP last night i was still smiling ear to ear just about every match. Although i did got called the worst player in multiplayer gaming history by a guy that kept jumping in the car trying to start it over and over when there is no chance. I saved him about 3 or 4 times but my bat eventually broke and I had to just stand there and watch him die. He wasn't happy he died and it was all my fault evidently.. 😂

I have come up with a few points on why people actually continue playing this game DESPITE NOTHING EVER GETS FIXED.

1. Console players - no cheaters (are there?), so it's ''fun'' to play despite the bugs

2. American PC players - no russian cheaters in their games because of the region difference

3. Die hard F13 fans that play the game no matter how bad it is

4. Playing with a group of 8 friends.

5. You are a russian cheater yourself and it's fun ruining other people games

European PC player here:

Seriously though, I boot up this game maybe once a month to see if ''anything got fixed finally'', but I always end up being disappointed - I don't even have to play more than 5 matches and there's always a russian cheater/s running around with 9999/10 stats, infinite shift/morph and other fuggly bullshit. How amateur the devs can be and allow players to edit their stats by modifying a game file? EAC doesn't even react to that shit, it's absolutely ridiculous.

I quit playing a year and a half ago, I started playing again a week ago. And nothing has changed since.
I love the game itself, but i hate most of the players.
Russian trolls and cheaters.
Idiots playing loud annoying music and memes.
The only map anyone wants to play it's fucking packanack small.
So most of the time i just quit during the game.
I don't care about those assholes.
If I'm Jason and someone's running around me playing russian music and dancing I just quit the game.
Last time some idiot trapped me In the corner of the cabin and wouldnt move so I had to quit.
Also when I was Jason some asshole was warping. I know he was doing this on purpose, because he was dancing around and laughing loud.
