Thoughts on Cops Actually Entering the Camp?

Recommended Posts

So, it's always kind of struck me as weird that we go through all the trouble to find the fuse, dodge/eat a trap, repair a phone fuse, and crawl into a cabin to call the cops to report a masked maniac systematically slaughtering us . . .

-- only to have the cops stop OUTSIDE the gates, and force us to run toward them in order to save ourselves.

In the real world, the cops would cautiously enter, guns drawn.

If this were incorporated into game play (as bots -- or maybe even controlled by dead/escaped players), would it help or hurt the game?

This is not intended to be another "nerf Jason" tactic. I figure if it's done right, it will just add a new dynamic to gameplay.

Thoughts?

I swear that somewhere there is a video long long before the game was even released that showed cops being called into the map.  Unless it’s some weird false memory, I thought I watched a clip that showed the area map and two bot cops searching the area.  I think they toyed with the idea but scrapped it?  I could be completely wrong considering this was so long ago.  Wouldn’t mind seeing it if it worked right.

I don't think it's a false memory, as I seem to recall the very FIRST video I ever saw of gameplay, it seemed to have a beta tester running along a path, then encountering two crouching cops (WITH guns drawn) creeping along. My memory recalls the tester saying, "Oh, it's the cops."

I thought it might have been a dream, but with your memory, perhaps they were in an early incarnation? If so, why were they removed?

I remember seeing a video showing two dots labeled as “cops” on a map doing some kind of search.  No gameplay,  just the map of crystal lake with who I’m assuming one of the devs talking about it(It could have been that Adam Sessler guy). I really can’t remember why it wasn’t put into the game, or if it actually happened at all.  It was so long ago.

This isn't what I saw, and I didn't actually see any dots representing the cops in the camp in these videos.

It was actual gameplay what I saw.

Anyway, back to the point: what are thoughts on cops actually ENTERING the camp upon arrival? If the dead/escapees could play them, perhaps it would be a good way to keep people from quitting as soon as they die or escape?

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as so rude. What I was trying to say is that I remember the video with the dots, which is why I quoted him. When you said that wasn't the video, I was trying to point out that I never said I found your video, I had found the other video, I apologize for sounding rude.

PS. Funny gif, made me chuckle.

It's an interesting idea, but in order to balance it, Jason should be able to kill each cop.

Here's an idea: There are 4-5 cops who come from both exits and split up. Both counselors and Jason can see them marked on the map (they can run anywhere, searching the camp). Once a counselor reaches a cop, a cutscene plays and they automatically escape. However, each cop can only take one counselor (the first to reach them). So no more taunting/dance emotes, no more ganging up on Jason before exiting ;) The only problem I see there is that high speed counselors have a huuuge advantage.

This is a great idea for Single Player mode.  But don't think it will be that easy.  On hard mode, these cops/bots are equipped with aimlock and walls.

These cops aren't crazy, they don't none of Jason Voorhees...

In truth, that would be kinda interesting to see. I like the idea of multiple cops, and each one rescuing a single counselor.

idea 1

you have one or two officers (or every dead player in the lobby respawning as cop) getting in and they have to round up the remaining counselors and escort them to the exit safely. then when at the exit, have a lil timer go out in which they all have to be in the exit zone for a lil bit of time before escaping.

or the cops are 2 dead players randomly chosen who like jarvis have to escort the remaining counselors out and / or distract / kill / wound jason with their pistols while the other counselors escape.

other idea would be to have 1 / 2 dead players respawn driving INTO the camp inside of their cop car in a cutscene like jarvis', then they stop the car somewhere far away from the 2 escape exits and then u see them get out of the car all leisurely saying stuff about how theyre pissed thinking its another prank call. "*sigh* here we go again.."

the game starts, they have to look for the remaining counselors and then get them to the cop car and drive them out. both cops are equipped with guns, one player has a pistol with 5 shots and each shot has a 33% stun chance, the other has a nightstick thats basically a baseball bat with a dif model.

jason cannot stop the car while its driving so the cop escape would still be a bit easier than the car escapes, but they still have to drive the car out to win. the cop car is a normal cruiser and can fit 3 people in the back and 2 cops in the front seat. it HAS to be filled with a player, or else you cant escape solely as cops.

if everybody ragequitted or there arent enough dead players for 2 cops, then the game just does the normal escape thing as it is right now.

My biggest concern is trolls respawning as cops and shooting counselors. They'd have to disable friendly fire.

Eu quero "FBI MODE", o FBI precisa caçar Jason nos mapas para capturá-lo: Levaria tantos tiros em Jason para derrubá-lo e pegá-lo e levá-lo para Crystal Lake facilidade de pesquisa.
