No no no, being a SJW is the last thing on my mind! I do agree with you about the obvious 80s stereotypes and I have seen most of the films. This was a case of someone who I know hasn't seen any of the films, I am sorry if I lashed out a bit in my previous comment.

Funny story, I had a female friend who I watched lots of movies with and when I showed her Halloween and Friday the 13th she asked me why I am into “softcore” porn with badly done practical slashing.

Needless to say I lost a friend that day.

Well that’s the thing not everyone is like us and loves the 80s to death!

Try running through the woods in the dark in heels. No, they're just going to give her normal shoes.

Ahh if only people knew that girls can do a lot while wearing heels, all it takes is practice, I've seen dancers do all kinds of different styles of dance with heels on.

They took Fox's heels away, so they'll take the mean girls too. Adding heels will mess up her height and therefore the hitboxs. Plus they would be too lazy to add in a high heel sound affect.

Wow now that's a damn harsh thing to say, I should have known better that this would attract the attention of wilfully ignorant bigoted individuals. Oh the irony is obesity is an issue growing wider every year no matter where you are. I do not advocate such lifestyle at all, but some people are born naturally plumper than others. As I have stated, the person I referred to, to my mind isn't fat. Just slightly thick in the legs and behind. She has a flat stomach, now it was her opinion that she thought the females represented were too skinny not me, but you could raise the point that women do feel pressured into having the perfect body which can adversely affect their mental well being and physical health too. Very few of us can claim we have a perfect body, hell I'm built like a stick insect and couldn't put weight on if I tried! It would be interesting however to know the demographics of players of this game, or the gaming community as a whole and whether perceived character design does/does not live up to the demographics expectations. Now put straight, I having nothing against the current format of the girls in game, but I am not against having more counsellors even if their bodies were of different shapes.

The Banana Girl! I forgot she even existed. Not my cup of tea as a playable character, but might be funny to see in game for a trope!

- Also, I didn't take much notice of AJ as I don't play her, but I can see what people mean about her, particularly in that bathing suit. Whether that's the deception of the suit or that see was a thick all along I don't know. To my mind she looked as skinny as the rest in her default outfit.

It might be harsh, but I'm tired of a small minority shrieking and fucking up various fandoms. I could point out a number of cases, but I'll keep it to F13. As it is, I don't care if somebody is fat or not. I've dated curvy women, hell I married one, and don't have an issue with it. I was making jokes about her size vs the size of her demographic (which is honestly pretty small, I'd wager.) Humor often doesn't translate and I'll chalk it up to that.

The problem is that Gun is making a love letter to 80's horror (specifically F13) and the tropes therein. Outside of Banana girl I'd be hard pressed to find any fat chick who had more then a background scene in the films. Even Banana girl had only a few moments, and didn't speak. As far as curvy, at what point does it go from Tiff to La Choppa? Does it matter?

At any rate your pal didn't buy into the game per your anecdote and I'm doubtful there being a fat girl to pick would change that. There are a number of actual legit tropes still not in play such as the bitch/mean girl. Why should Gun put things in that don't fill the role?

Also your pal making claims of the Dev's is bullshit. That sounds much like SJW's tagging the opposition with a label and making them out to be a bad guy because they don't agree. "They didn't put in a blind character or Mark and his wheelchair so they must hate the handicapped." That is quite a leap in logic, no?

As it is, after Gun buckled to the casuals and neutered Jason into being a punching bag for bully counselors, I'm a bit short with foolish ideas.

This game is based on 80s slasher movies where careless teenagers fuck around and do the opposite of what they’re told to do as counselors, I think that’s the irony behind it.

The ironic comment was people dead set on playing fat/big counselors being such a small demographic.

As far as the rest of it, yup.

It will always be hard to transfer a trend or style from the past into current times. It is near impossible to apply today's views on sex-/gender-portrayal to movies which are roughly 35 years old. The game tries to recapture the vibe & style of the final quarter of a F13 film, so by default, its structure, its tropes and its style is roughly 35 years outdated.

Also, the only characters who are not lean / optically athletic are LaChappa (reallife backer who got put in the game as a reward) and the somewhat chubby Shelly. And Shelly got trimmed down considerably compared to the movie it seems.

Maybe this is completely irrelevant but I’ve noticed over the time things that were completely fine are now offensive and labeled as either sexist or racist.

The fact that women get triggered when there isn’t a obese counselor representing herself or the fact that some people get offended by both black counselors having very low repair/intelligent stats is beyond me.

We have stereotypes in the game such as:

Chad being the dumb rich kid who is scared as shit (low composure) but somehow survives long enough to escape (thus his “luck”)

Buzz being he the typical jock, tall and well built probably the schools quarter back who lets the nerds do his homework (poor LaChappa)

LaChappa being the nerdy science guy who is weak and obese thus low stamina and speed

This is just the tip of the iceberg most of the characters are typical stereotypes that may or may not exist to this day.

I find it weird doe that people actually think the devs intended to make Buzz and Vanessa stupid and fast, Buzz was actually a kickstarter donater and Vanessa just happens to be black and the sprinter counselor.
