Last Chance for Redemption

I feel Friday the 13th the game is really close to becoming like what the Culling became, one of my favorite games, similar to H1Z1. It was a fantastic game until the devs stopped listening to the community and higher-ranked players and began dumbing-down the gameplay mechanics that the pros loved, and everyone else went a long with them. Do you know why? Because the pros are the ones who advertise your game on twitch. The pros are the ones who feel like your game is complicated enough to put hundreds of hours in to become an expert in it. In 4 months the game went from 4500 players to 600 hundred players on average. If not for the recent updates and the recent steam sale for friday the 13th the game would be in a very bad state right now. Currently the new players who bought the game on sale are sort of inflating player numbers at the moment, hence all the noob players you see on these days.

The devs are focusing too hard on content that doesn't enhance the core gameplay of the game. Your skins don't matter. Your Jason 4 addition came too late to matter to  feel the game was being looked after by most of the community and introduced more bugs a long with it as with the game itself on release. The game was scary because it was new and people didn't understand what the core of it was well, and then over time it was realized it was heavily about the shift grab. But at least jason was scarier then and could hit you through windows and block your attacks like an unstoppable force. Now we have nothing except the shift grab and face sitting jason like it was a category on pornhub. Please listen to the community, take 10 minutes out of your day to post a poll on these forums asking people about the game. The people on these forums are great people with great ideas, and i think this forum is what's keeping the game from dropping 50% of its player base. Talk to your forums, its cheap an effective, and you wont have to think to hard about fixing the game. Thanks.

The devs recently announced their plans for the next patch (bug fixes with slight balance changes, I'm guessing Jason's grab), and we now have another new guy that talks to us on the forums.

Just saying, you've posted a doomsday thread yet the devs were here not too long ago. From what we know the next patch is going to be focused mainly on bug fixes.

No, the new patch is focused on new content, some obscure bug fixes ( we have no idea on which bug they are working on) and the balance is out of idea

This thread would say otherwise:

What they have actually said is they're not implementing any major balance changes, instead choosing to focus on bug fixes. This I like because it's important that the game first run like a well-oiled machine. The balance changes that are going to be released will therefore be minor...I'm guessing maybe another tweak to Jason's grab, but that's unknown at this time.

Some of the bugs in existence are pretty vicious like the 100% completion bug (something the devs have already confirmed they're working on getting rid of). Afterwards, the devs mentioned they will post several times in the following weeks regarding balance changes. My guess is they're probably going to discuss with us the nature of possible upcoming changes, and they'll likely be up for discussion.

Edit: Forgot to mention there's also new content coming in the next patch.

All I know is,this is currently the worst I've ever seen the game on PC.

Trolls, quitters, crazy pings, bugs, one of the worst patches ever, and the fact that most of the people that I used to play with have all pretty much abandoned this game.

It's been like this from the start for me. I've been through many groups since release, who all stopped playing after a while. My current group are almost entirely max levels like myself, who have evidently stuck with the game, but even they have been on a lot less. Once this group disbands, I'm giving the game a break.

Also regarding balance, if you want to know how up to date they are on the gameplay, you only need to read their Twitter - "Stay as far from Jason as possible. Use your wits and stealth to quietly repair the phones or a vehicle and make a hasty exit." I guess this is how they think the game is still played 6 months on. That doesn't give me any hope for balance updates to be honest.

That is how the game is played unless you're playing as a combat/runner character or playing in a large party and trying to kill Jason in one big group.

Playing as a coordinated team is the way to play the game. That includes engaging Jason in combat to defend yourself, your team, and objectives. Even a counselor with 1 Luck still has the ability to fight, and still perform valuable grab saves. Strength in numbers, you need your team mates to stay alive.

Staying as far away as possible from Jason (and consequently everyone else) and hoping your Stealth protects you (it won't) is what beginners do, and how the game was played around release.

isn't it the job of the repair/fixer characters to sneak around, stay away from Jason and collect the parts and fix shit? so how is that a beginner thing? I main AJ a lot, so I use her ability (with perks) to jog around, collect items and help the other players by fixing shit, while the Vanessa like characters distract Jason.

Also I agree, the folks I started grouped with a while ago, all have moved on to play DBD daily now, wont even come back to F13. In fact one guy traded the game back into gamestop he was so annoyed.

I've been through the roster of counselors, and I mained AJ too at one stage. So I know what she is and isn't capable of.

How you've explained it might work in theory, but it fails in practice. Without good mobility, AJ isn't collecting shit. Any good speed/stam counselors will have looted everything by the time she gets anywhere, and most likely repaired some things without her. It's the reason I became good at repairing even with Vanessa, because the slow repair counselors are rarely ever at objectives when I need them to be. They are looking for items that are already gone, and losing all their stamina just getting around.

My advice for an AJ player is to simply stay put. Loot the sectors closest to you, and if you've found parts then repair the nearest objective you can. Otherwise wait for players to arrive with parts, so you can actually be there to do your job. Especially when Jason inevitably shows up, which is where AJ is most useful since she is fast enough to repair in Jason's face.

They don't listen to any of us. They just do what they think is right but it never works in the end.

Yep. It's sad. So much potential mostly wasted.

I'll agree with this. It's pointless for slow repair characters to traverse the map looking for stuff. They're better off just hiding near an objective, whether in a hiding spot or just outside of Jason's sense range, and waiting for fast characters to bring items. Unfortunately, very few people tend to play fast characters in my experience, and the ones who do would prefer to carry a weapon rather than a repair item.

If you get to know the game its great, Gun & Illfonic are doing a great job, just be patient.

I have 500+ hours in this game however it needs work to stay competitive in today's gaming market.
