they gotta do something about traps

Are you fucking serious? As ridiculous as Jason is, his traps have, and always will be balanced.

His grab range and lack of consequences for grabbing make him broken, not his traps.

his grab i think has to do a little bit with internet connection but traps should be able to be de activated even if i don't have a pocket knife

The problem is making it so you can diable traps with something else would heavily change the meta. Traps would become incredibly weak because most levels are saturated with weapons (the Jarvis map is a different story, but it was designed specifically to be tricky), and since there are people who wish to see traps being disarmed by sacrificing weapons...well, there would be no happy medium.

Also, his grab reach has been tested on stable connections; it definitely has a longer reach than what the animation suggests. It's something that people (including myself) wish to see fixed, and when that it is done Jason will technically be nerfed. That could help ease the minds of people who wish to see the trap aspect of the meta weakened.

His traps are so counselors can't easily get objectives done without them having to sacrifice something in return. This is why pocketknives for the traps are perfect as is. Otherwise people get to deal with Jasons only distant tools while he's off doing his thing. Some Jasons heavily rely on the traps due them having very few of them. To be capable of negating them without losing something in return would favor the counselors far too much. It was bad enough when people used to be able to negate 2 traps with just one first aid spray if they had the insanely broken old thick skin perk. 

The current system is fine. You sacrifice your pocket knife in order to get objectives done. Let a high intelligence counselor fix things so as to make messing up unlikely. If you gave people the ability to negate traps while keeping their pocket knives you'd just be making Jason that much less of a threat. You're meant to be apprehensive about coming into contact with Jason. Deciding if you should disarm a trap to get an objective done or keep it in case he comes knocking is a part of the whole survive the insanely powerful zombie man thing. 

In that video you didn't even look for a trap to begin with. In instances like that just drop the fuse there and move on.

I was expecting to watch this video and see a Jason as Part 2 that put all 7 traps on the fuse and then agree with you a little bit.. But 1 trap? You should have looked for it and been able to do something about 1 trap.
