  1. So far only seen it happen at Packanack but counselors are swimming to a certain section and are able to get out of bounds where Jason cannot reach them. Not sure where exactly on the water because I saw it after I had died so had no access to the map.

  3. I usually write these kind of posts in existing threads, but they're longer than most and probably go over people's heads a bit. Which is understandable, so hopefully making this its own thread will get some more discussion going. I really just want to see what people think, so I hope you guys take the time to read it and share your thoughts. Current Approach I don't think the current approach being taken towards game-breaking problems is enough. I feel it doesn't focus on the causes of the problems, but rather the effects. Because for every exploit that's fixed, and for every player that's banned, a new one will show up. And the process requires constant effort on the devs' behalf and ours, which isn't ideal or realistic. The TOS isn't enough to keep offending players at bay, and you have no idea how many of them there could be. This is something you have to realise and consider whether it is worth keeping the game the way it is, in return for also keeping the reasons for its decline. Real solutions need to be designed into the game, so that it can better maintain balance on its own without absolute need for supervision. So with that said, I'm talking about map glitching in this post. I also have ideas on team killing, players working with Jason and other issues, but I'll see how this goes first. Solution to Map Glitching Change the win conditions so that you cannot win by timeout. Counselors must escape the map, or kill Jason, to survive. My thinking is that making this one change will contribute to stopping this problem and a few others, and encourage a more legitimate playing style. As a side note, this would actually be truer to the movies if you think about it, which makes sense for a game that draws so heavily from them. It would also up the tension and bring some fear back to the game, which is now largely lost due to high-level counselors easily taking advantage of Jason. But I digress. Map Glitching is a direct result of the game allowing you to win by simply staying alive. Because if Jason can't access where you are, that is a guaranteed win. Which is the reason why players were motivated to glitch in the first place, and why they will continue to hunt for new areas and new methods of glitching post-patches. Players could still do it temporarily for other purposes, but at some point they must get out in the open, and whether or not they run into Jason, if they don't escape then it counts as a kill for him. Additionally, this would also discourage tactics such as looping exploits, hiding the entire match, blocking entrances off with cars, whatever else people are doing or will think of in the future. While it's not against the rules, it's definitely not playing as intended either. Things like these continue to cause frustration and disband lobbies as a result. Such tactics would now take away the time for you to work towards an escape, rather than enable you to win by stalling for time. It would also encourage more players to work together to complete objectives, which would be mandatory to win. Of course if the cops are called, everyone can just sneak out. And that's okay, because you're still actively playing as intended and you can still fail. But just as you should not be able to hide anywhere Jason can't access, you should also not be able to infinitely loop around Jason, or do nothing at all and still have a chance at winning (even if it's small). Questions Q: What does it matter if someone glitches and waits till timeout, or till their buddies have finished completing an objective? A: It matters. Jason will always have a chance, because counselors will always need to escape the map at some point or take him on. It's not a complete solution, but it's a strong step in the right direction. It's not just about punishing the glitcher, but alleviating the frustration of the Jason player, because they could now walk away knowing the glitcher is just delaying the inevitable. For griefers, their main purpose is to get a reaction out of other players, so minimizing the impact of their actions would be taking away a lot from them. Q: But can't this also punish normal players who were simply unlucky? A: Of course I have considered that. Sometimes you do just end up in a bad situation, with no weapons, no items, you're the last one left and and Jason is on your tail. So with that in mind, perhaps this solution could include some upgrades for the counselors to lessen the blow, or some form of increasing their chances. But I think that's a topic for another post. The core idea here is to get everyone playing legitimately, not just subtracting people from the player base. Q: Why would other solutions, such as death in out-of-bounds map areas, not be enough? A: This is something I have read about before and might even be implemented. But again, it is fixing one effect of the cause, and I don't believe it can account for all instances of it in one swift move. This game is not exempt from the issue that all others face, which is a portion of the player base always looking for new methods to cheat, and sharing it for all others to use. And like other games, the probability is high that players will find another way. In this case, another way to abuse the condition of survival by timeout. That is the overarching problem. But take that condition away, and they cannot abuse it in any form. Conclusion Sometimes real solutions require bold changes. I think this could be a simple and elegant start to one, and it's justifiable considering what the game has and will continue to go through if the causes of its problems remain unchecked. Players can and usually do find ways to break the game's environment, but not its conditions of winning. I'll be the first to say there might be things I haven't considered, but there's only so much I can think of in the moment. I know people are passionate about the game, and I'm open to criticism. All I ask is you keep it constructive. Thanks for reading.
  4. My experience tonight was awful, not a single round went unblemished: In no particular order Packaknack roof exploiters Host quitting Host quitting because I killed them as Jason More Packaknack roof exploiters Children 12 and under teamkilling, working with Jason Rinse/repeat I think I'm done until this all gets patched/fixed. It only takes one person to hijack your game. Whether it being exploits, team killing or simply quitting as host- you're at the mercy of someone else and the PS4 community at large has shown they're more interested in playing hostage with you than playing the intended game. There's a surprising amount of kids in-game also and their priority seems to be using the glitches and exploits. The gameplay has grown a little stale and I can live with that but the game as a whole is fundamentally flawed and flat-out broken in many respects. At the very least, host migration should be the #1 priority after fixing all of the exploits. With the wrong group of people (and it happens a lot), the game is unplayable.
  5. Friday the 13th is one of the most unique games on the market right now, but it has a couple of easily-fixed problems that are holding it back from being fun every game. 1.) People afking/leaving if they don't get jason - There should be stricter penalties on people disconnecting while still alive. If even 2 people leave in the first 2 minutes of the game, it's almost guaranteed that no counselors will survive. The game is balanced around it being a 1v7, if it's a 1v5 the game doesn't feel fun for either party. Jason feels like he was cheated out of the potential to get 7 kills, and the counselors feel that they were cheated out of the amount of players needed to organize an escape. Jason and other counselors should also get some experience whenever a counselor disconnects (this is especially important when people alt+f4 while being executed, which is extremely frustrating to deal with when playing Jason) 2.) Counselors assisting jason. Plenty of games I've seen have had counselors betraying other counselors or even feeding jason information on the locations of other counselors because they're friends on steam. Most don't even attempt to hide it and will own up to it and laugh when asked. Fortunately the solution is pretty simple; if you're in a party, nobody in the party should be able to play as Jason. If you want to play with friends and work as a team, do it, but don't ruin the experience for other people by getting them killed. Otherwise, what's the point of having stealth on a counselor? External spectators should also have a time delay of several minutes between what they see and what is happening in-game, because if you're the last counselor and there is not much time left on the clock, hiding in a hiding spot even for a minute or two before jason finds you is a valid strategy to prolong the game and try to escape, hence why each round has a 20 minute time limit, at the end of which all surviving counselors win, and also why jason has a sense ability. 3.) Integrated report feature for people abusing exploits. If you witness somebody abusing a glitch to become unkillable, there should be a way to submit that report within the game itself. Steam has almost no feedback on reports and it's impossible to monitor how many of the reports are submitted actually result in penalties. This is important to encourage people to keep reporting cheaters as well as serving as a warning to would-be cheaters not to try it. There is also no way (afaik) to submit video footage of cheating to steam mods directly.
  6. Greetings I'm writing this to address various issues ive come across since playing Friday the 13th. To begin I play Friday the 13th on the xbox one. And ive noticed a lot of players quitting the match upon being killed. This also includes Host players quitting and ending the game for all players in the match upon being killed buy Jason. In my viewpoint I don't belive its even remotely fair that a player can rage quit upon being killed buy Jason and instantly que up for another match. And I belive a quit penalty or a temporary 30 minut ban from matchmaking is needed in case a player quits early. As for the same being done buy player hosts. The game is in need of dedicated matchmaking and dedicated servers. As so that players can no longer host the match and the game completely closes down upon the host rage quitting. The second issue I would like to bring up as ive noticed quite a bite of players doing this freakquently in matches. As there is currently an exploit within the game players are using to Glitch there way onto rooftops buy repetively crouching near walls buy a rooftop. This exploit I would deem to be a method of cheating as there are no ladders on the maps that enable you to reach rooftops. Thus the player performing the exploit can simply glitch there way to a rooftop. And wait out the time period to survive. Removing and fixing this glitch / Exploit would be a vast improvement to the game. To show exactly this glitch here is a video of a player showing this exploit to the community.
  7. Post a screenshot of the glitch and glitcher with the gamer tag of the glitcher visible and what you are playing on so others can block/report these exploiters or if they encounter them in a game simply ruin it for them. Also if you are being team killed for no reason by a party or find players working with Jason for their own gain you can link the video for the same purposes. Let's get em boys and gals. Photo below is from a PS4 quickplay session. Taken today
  8. I was just in a game and was playing as Jason when one other player found a way for him to hide from me. So I couldn't get him. He was crouching under the bridge and I couldn't grab him or damage him. This needs to be fixed or more people will do this.
  9. Hello, Glad to see the huge update on steam version yesterday, but I still encounters issues which should have been fixed by it. And it seems some exploits are still there. So lets all list the issues we keep encountering after this update : - "Fixed multiple achievement related bugs." : The achievements with no counter are still not unlocking for me and others. Anyway thank to the developers for listening to players feedback and correcting most of the issues the game had.
  10. So there are these 2 guys that have been joining private games through the LFG and every game they join have been using the exploits in each map. If you see these guys in your game on Xbox One report them on Xbox live, kick them from the game and probably block them. Gamertags: TheeLaFlame, zSavagePanda I got a video of them doing it too but I need to figure out how to post it to the forums.
  11. Click Here to view exploit Link above shows the exploit done in Crystal Lake where survivors can swim up to the rock and auto crouches right on it. This exploit stops Jason from getting you and forces you to wait the timer. I also seen this done in Packanak map as well. There is another exploit where some one can swim to the boat exit in Crystal Lake and just camp the boat exit and Jason can not reach you, I will make another post with a video on it later.
