Teamwork will make every counselor more viable. A lobby full of Vanessa's is more annoying than a threat. A couple of Vanessa's make a solid addition to a team but they're not that big of a deal. Try a lobby full of Deborah's, A.J.'s, and LaChappa's. Everything will be fixed so fast you'll be begging to see a Vanessa.

I’ve had lobbies like that.... it doesn’t end well for counselors lol.

Ok guys, I've read enough these days, even after the update, about the "unfairness" of Jason killing teams, and how try to stop them (which is, I remind you, a way to team with Jason) is justified as "killing Jason is too easy" and shit.
Well, I've been a player since day 1. I am part of a Jason killing team, and I can assure you that 70% of times one of us spawns as Jarvis, Jason is dead meat. On the other hand, as the killer I've been put down like ONCE in the last 6 months. Keep in mind we play everyday, for hours, my spawning preference is put on "none" and I consider myself an average player and an average Jason.

You wanna know what the problem is? It has nothing to do with "game mechanics", "how the game was intended to be played by the devs" or "naughty counselors teaming up and turning me in a pinata Jason :_( "
The issue is simpler: 90% of Jason players are absolute simpletons who have to this day NO IDEA how to counter a Jason killing team, or a group hunting.

The scenario I come across is almost everytime identical:

    - My team charges Jason so one of us will die and spawn as Jarvis, and maybe we'll unmask him too in the process.
    - Jason doesn't see through the obvious strategy granting us exactly what we wanted in the first place
    - As Jarvis spawns we go get the sweater, usually without bringing the mask so Jason can hear us, and the killer just mindlessly charges us EVEN IF UNMASKED and gets quickly killed.

Guys you can get all the buffs you want, and last one was a big one, but if you just charge everything that moves like a raging bull, don't blame the devs or the "teams" if you die.

As I told you, I'm a mediocre Jason but I got killed like once in the last 4-5 months because even If I'm no genius I'm smart enough to

    -disable and trap radio tower
    - ignore counselors who charge at me with an obvious deathwish until I'm sure I've put down 2-3 players who are not in their team.
    - Avoid taking groups until you are in rage mode. And even then COMBAT STANCE AND BLOCK! COMBAT STANCE AND BLOCK! JEEEZ!
    - Avoid the classic "trap the phone, trap the cars" strategy, and instead save my traps for later in game.

Again, I'm a mediocre player at best, but I play everyday and I just don't see all the issues you see. Maybe you are part of the problem, ever thought of that?

Although most Jason’s are bad, it is unfair to say that they are stupid for not preventing the kill. Tommy house is rng, so you need to be somewhat lucky.

The biggest counter to what you are saying is that kill squads have a massive advantage over Jason players, at least the first time you meet. Jason has to play to protect objectives most of the time, but kill squads have set plans in place and will often ignore objectives; jason doesn’t know this.

Killing Jason is the easiest way to win if the group is committed.

Also, for the love of all that is good, the fucking boat noise was not in the game at launch.

Ben confirmed in an earlier post that it wasn't meant to be in the game as it was supposed to be a stealth escape with certain doom if you're caught (high risk/high reward). Maybe Wes and Ben weren't on the same page with that? Go ask them, but there is video at launch showing no boat noise.

If you have proof otherwise (not speculation or false memory) just show me. I will eat some crow. I bet you can't find any though.

It's also possible that it was supposed to be in the game at launch but was broken until recently, lol

2 and 4 are bottom of the barrel garbage tier.  -shift is the worst weakness to have as Jason.

6 and 8 are top tier.  Depends on if you prefer +shift and knives or destruction.

Everything else is interchangeable in the middle.

I'm torn on 2. Extra taps and the + morph are great tools, but yea, good luck if the car gets started.

I don’t think counselors stats really need adjustment. Every character has different uses and I’m sorry but Vanessa is meant to be used as a distractor so other counselors can get things done while she runs Jason around. As far as runners go, I much more prefer Tiffany over Vanessa. She is good for part delivery, and a Jason distractor as well. I will even repair as Tiffany if needed. Repair counselors love me in games bc I will get the parts to their destinations quickly. I’ve never been a huge fan of using Vanessa even though she is the best counselor in the game

The problem is that she can do more than distract. She can repair and fight, as well as waste time.

  6. Hey guys,

I thought it would be good to start a thread for our community to discuss its thoughts on the current state of the game and suggestions for future balancing. First of all, i'd like to thank @mattshotcha and @wes for continuing to show support for the game that we all love, even though the content has ended. The game is in a much better place than it has been in quite awhile. I'd also like to reiterate that this thread is for everyone to voice their views on balance,  myself included, so feel free to disagree

    Counselor adjustments:

Vanessa: In my opinion, there is very little reason to play any character other than Vanessa. She can waste a ton of time because of her stamina pool. A competent Vanessa can easily waste 10 minutes, and possibly even more with thick skin, healing perks, and a pocket knife; she also has a workable repair stat. She would be tricky to balance but I would say to nerf her repair, stamina, or luck (so that she gets fewer weapon hits)

Bugsy: This counselor has no purpose. His best stat is strength, which serves no purpose other than to demask slightly faster (which Jarvis can already do). His terrible luck also means that he gets very few hits with a weapon. He needs slightly better repair and/or luck, which could be done at the expense of strength.

Shelly: The worst counselor in the game (sorry, Larry). He is another character with high strength (a garbo stat) and is lacking the more important strengths (stamina, luck). I would also suggest taking away strength to improve those other stats.

    Jason adjustments

-Jason's mask comes off too easily, especially considering that he can be stunned and then immediately hit for extra damage. More HP would be good

-Part 4: Most would agree that part 4 is the worst Jason in the game. He is clearly intended to be an aggressive Jason but, unfortunately, that does not work well in this game. It is still going to take alot of time to catch counselors. Jason catches people with a decent shift, which this Jason lacks. It is almost impossible to stop the car with a negative shift, especially against an experienced driver. I think he should either receive a regular shift or more traps.

-Savini: Much like Vanessa, there is no reason to use another character. He gets an insane number of shift attempts, as well as having strong map control and pressure. I would suggest taking away destruction and replacing it with sense or more HP.

As I said, I think that the overall balance of the game is good, but could use a few tweaks.

Are you one of those people who watch the game on YouTube and don’t actually play it?  Jason is a cream puff in this game now

I consider myself to be a good killer in both games. I think the counselors have an edge over Jason, but DBD is set up pretty much so that at least 1-2 people escape every time unless they try to be too altruistic .

You are only dead 99% of the time if you attract a water Jason’s attention. That’s the important difference here. The way they made it now, even if you are flawless in your repair you’re still going to get noticed. So what’s the point in even trying?

Nah, Jason will check the map constantly if he knows what he is doing. That’s all the attention that he needs

  9. As we know (and as the devs admit), the perk system isn't very good. One thing that stands out to me is that there are a few perks that are just head and shoulders above the others: Thick skin, Medic, Marathon, hypochondriac, and possibly swift attacker and restful. These perks will always be better because they are good in every situation. Other perks, like my dad's a cop and the fast car perk (I forget the name) are actually really good, but they just aren't worth picking over the "meta" perks.

I think that the better perks should be either severely crippled or removed from the game. This would make utility perks and specialists become a much bigger deal; everyone has  a role. We could have Chads with car perks, stealth characters like LaChappa and AJ with My dad's a cop, and even things like people who can repair faster and or get the boat running at crazy speeds. The game would be much more interesting and require more coordination.

I would rank Roy as 4th if the fact that his shift duration wasn't as short a it is. They fixed the cooldown, but the duration of the actual shift is still no good. It especially makes catching a car a pain. I'd put Part 2 above him since Roy is just as bad at catching cars. At least Part 2 has +Morph and Traps to tey and defend those objectives before they get going.

Overall my tier list would go:

    Part 3

    Part 8

    Part 5/Part 2

    Part 6

    Part 9

    Part 7

    Part 4

I only put 9 over 7 since -HP honestly doesn't seem like it even works aince all Jasons lose their masks rather quickly against dedicated mobs. +Weapon Strength helps against mobs, but I would say +Shift is a better ability overall, since when paired with +Stalk you can stop the car reliably without giving away your position, multiple times due to the short cooldown on both of thoae abilities.

I may even put 9 over 6 since -Morph is such a poor weakness.

Also Part 3 over Savini due do how much more pressure you apply while running. You can wear down high stamina a lot faster and punish mistakes easier.

Roy's shift is shorter duration than the other neutral shift jasons but it is fast enough to catch the car. It is MUCH better than the negative shift.

    My list:

    Part 8

    Part 3

    Part 5

    Part 6

    Part 2

    Part 9

    Part 7

    Part 4  :(

IMO, the only Jasons worth picking against a good group are the top 3.

    Im the opposite.

I quit small maps..   I refuse  to play them.   I hate loading into them.

Few nights ago i loaded into a small map for the 1st time in a while, and ended up as Jason.  In 1 min 2 cars where be worked on, and someone was tanking traps at the phone.  First person i grabbed had a pocket knife.   I instantly quit.     Im out..

The only way i'll play as Jason in a small map is if Jason gets his skills at the start.

While I don’t quit out, I also hate them. If the team is competent, at least two are getting out no matter what (unless they commit to one objective). I also dislike jarvis and pinehurst, so when I am host we’re getting packanack, crystal lake and higgins.

Ether leave the objectives slightly less guarded or deal with Tommy + Sweater, which will leave Jason unable to prevent escapes without risk of death.  Remaining "invincible" should be every Jason's first priority, so he can effectively control the entirety of the game.

yea i usually take the risk though. It's relatively easy to prevent death if you sell out for it, but it lets people go.

  13. 9 hours ago, GeneiJin said:

Yea, a big weakness to the "Anti-Tommy Strategy" is that it can leave you exposed to actual escaper (such players exist?) lol.  I'm not really mad if they manage to get out, especially with a car.  They deserve it.  More upsetting was the game ending early glitch with counselors still left to kill during the previous hotfix.

Yea that’s the thing about the anti tommy stuff.... I don’t want others escaping ?

Well considering Thrasher does increased damage while using an axe.. Buggzy with a 10 strength.
Sucker punch for increased chance of stuns and swift attacker for quicker attacking.

Logical that attacking Jason will have a good chance at demasking.

And yea, I'd assume anyone who relies on exploits would have better chances at surviving than a typical player out there in the community.

Again, if you consider me as weak than it just speaks volumes as to your abilities as a player.

Maybe the difference with you and I is that I do all my work as a solo guy, I don't rely on anyone and don't need a crutch to prop me up.

Keep yacking, plenty of people know who I am and my ability... So, your words are meaningless to me considering you are just another nobody out there.

Maybe i’m confused, but why would Jason use “one on one you can’t take me” as a talking point? Even a bad Jason will almost definitely kill a single counselor one on one. This is a team based game....

I honestly wouldn't recommend it. It's a fun game when you play with friends but that's about it. Even then you can't guarantee that you'll be able to finish a match. I can't speak for consoles but PC player count is nearing extinction level numbers. So, unless John Hammond gets his hands on this game it's days are numbered.
