    Patch Notes - Friday the 13th: The Game - January 2019 Patch HOTFIX: The kill process for Jason UI Bug This hotfix has been submitted and is rolling out to platforms as soon as possible. INTERACTION LOCK - The team has fixed various interaction lock issues, including: Stumbling while dropping an item Entering Combat Stance while swinging weapon CONNECTIVITY AND CRASHES - Multiple connectivity/crash fixes including: Network Error after joining lobby in Quick Play “Need Updated Client” error ENVIRONMENT AND COLLISION Falling Animation Loop - Fixed various areas where players enter a falling animation and cannot continue, including: Firewood Logs on Pinehurst Map Cardboard Box on Packanack Map Coffee Table in Jarvis House Counselor Catch - Fixed various spots that could snag the counselors and make them unable to move, including: Cemetery fence on the Crystal Lake map. Safe Spots - Fixed various safe spots where the counselors are unreachable once entered, including: The cemetery in Higgin’s Haven Parking the car inside the barn on Pinehurst Fixed an issue where an invisible collision would occur at the barn fence on Pinehurst, causing the car to shift vertically after restarting the car. Fixed an exploit where counselors could use the car as a barricade at Jason’s shack, affecting several maps. Fixed an issue where the counselors could control their directional axis while climbing through windows, allowing them to reach unplayable areas of the maps. Fixed an issue where counselors are able to reach the rooftop of the Pinehurst Halfway House by escaping Jason's grab with a pocket knife. USER INTERFACE Fixed an issue disabling the “More Emotes” button. Fixed the Morph Cursor not showing on Xbox One. BALANCING AND TUNING Jason - Buffing Mother’s Special, Special Boy. Weapon Swing - Jason can now swing his equipped weapon to hit multiple targets at once. This will help Jason defend himself against bullies. Stun - It is no longer possible to Stun Jason while he is in Rage Mode unless using a shotgun or Pamela’s sweater. Rage Indicator will show on the minimap when Jason enters Rage Mode. Counselors - They should have been watching him. Tommy Jarvis - Players who kill themselves cannot come back as Tommy Jarvis. ****Killing Jason is unchanged.****

    Jason being unstunnable in rage mode is a tad op being he spends half the game in said mode. Maybe change the rage timer to the 15 minute mark ?

    This could potentially be game breaking especially for Jason's like savini, part 3 part 4 etc. This mechanic could be completely abused by Jason's who do nothing but slash as counselors no longer have a defense against them. If a counselor runs out of stamina while Jason has rage there's practically no longer a way to escape. Combine this with the awful swing hit detection and it just makes the game less enjoyable now, especially as counselors

    The thing about doing this for Jason, I think, is going to change the way players approach the game. They can't "add" any kind of perk system for Jason that would open up the door to combating the typical invincibility set most players are running, but, by shifting the power so heavily to him once enraged...it's going to encourage players to avoid triggering it. Which means avoid pummeling Jason all match. Players aren't going to be constantly dropping you, having you furiously pounding E while you're watching all the damage you've dealt vanish with 1 of 6 heals they're going to be using. I think it's going to work out well. I really do. I know full and well this could all go to pot once the patch drops but it's probably the best way to disrupt the current bullshit. I would personally enjoy this game a lot more if in the early stage of a match I'm focusing on stopping objectives over dealing with a kill squad 1 minute in.

    They are prevalent, yes, but not to the point that if you are gang raping Jason in a team that you can just run from cabin to cabin finding more to keep chain stunning. Chain stunning is generally a melee weapon issue. To be honest, the fix they are implementing that allows Jason to slash more than one person at a time would have probably been enough to discourage gang raping Jason, but not so much as to make it never happen. Some of the funniest and most satisfying games I have ever played as Jason involved breaking up a piñata party. All this is going to do is prevent counselors that use firecrackers for a moment to regain stamina to be instantly killed. If a limping counselor truly has no way to escape, why bother having a limping animation to begin with? Flare guns, when used properly, give time for a counselor to escape a trapped or blocked cabin, etc. Nerfing them seems to me to be over kill. Counselors should have some means of temporary escape / stun in the second half of the game aside from the two shot guns that show up on the map that will likely already have been used.

    Even then half the time firecrackers don't work and Jason bugs out and walks straight through them

    Yeah, this is where I think the Devs are going to have to back track the update. I don't think firecrackers nor flare guns are prevalent enough in the game to have to nerf them against a raged Jason. This is overkill.

    So what are counselors going to do when he's in rage mode and he grabs someone you're trying to save by hitting him with a melee weapon? Will that not stun him and just let him kill your counselor buddy unless they have a pocketknife? Or will it just flinch him for a split second, which will lead him to spamming that grab button again or resort to slashing the both of you to death? That'd also mean firecrackers and flare guns are useless for the counselors who aren't fit to fight like Deborah or La Chappa. Shotguns are already so rare in the game if you have to rely on that only to save someone else...the most I've seen spawn in a round is 2; usually around a campfire and, if you're lucky, in the big house/bathrooms. The other exception is Tommy Jarvis who comes with a shotgun already. Not saying that the update is bad; it's good they're patching up glitches that people are abusing. I get that it's supposed to be more challenging with the buffs for Jason, even more so with the limited number of supplies and weapons for counselors, but I feel the 100% invincibility to an already powerful Jason during rage mode is a bit much. A more reduced stun chance seems more logical than locking out the stun chance completely, which makes sucker punch a useless skill toward the 10-15 minute mark when there is most likely only 1 or 2 counselors left. There are also various other glitches like the throwing knife to a moving car that work in Jason's favor, which puts even the best of counselors in deplorable situations that leaves them to die.

    You know who will probably like this? The majority of new players, who don't spend time on the forums, that I watch get their ass beat for 15 minutes the first few times they're selected to play Jason. They may do better than 1/8 in their first few goes.

    Oh I am eager to try it out, but you wouldn’t believe the level of judgement that hangs on those first few matches tomorrow. It could be great and really bring the game closer to balanced but it doesn’t feel like it will in my head. I’m not going to add much more till I test it myself, no need to repeat @Somethin Cool‘s very valid points and I imagine he isn’t adding the other things he’s thought for the same reason I’m not, this has the potential to backfire and I wish they’d run it by the forum. I’m glad that this patch was announced and covered on the stream, which is actually more encouraging than the patch notes actually appearing on the forum, I’m only half kidding but it makes my point without ranting. The streams have real potential, so I’m trying to be positive... it isn’t working is it?

    Dying in a non Jason trap counts as a suicide. You won’t die the first time you step in it. You’d have to reset it. Either way, it isn’t going to be as easy as calling Tommy and jumping in and out of windows until death anymore. You’re going to need help, and by the time you get that help two other counselors on the other side of the map could alrrady be dead. The changes aren’t meant to make becoming Tommy impossible, just more difficult. If it gets rid of the half that plays like assholes then it’ll be no great loss. They make for hateful playing experiences anyways. Or maybe, just maybe, they’ll stick around to be Jason because it will finally be fun to play Jason?

    I don't think this will be the case tbh. I've always taken a lone-wolf approach to escape and it works pretty well most of the time already, especially in the small maps. I see what you're saying though and I'm sure it'll be the case in some matches. There'll probably be a window where players are going to have to adjust. @Somethin Cool Chad can swing away all he wants. He won't break Jason's rhythm any longer and Jason will just return the swings. Chad isn't winning that one. The slashers are going to come out of the woodwork I think. More power to them.

    They roll out at different times depending on platform. We're looking into it, but it may end up being a necessary blocker. I'm new, and I think it's a fix to a breachable spot. YES! Confirmed, double XP and tapes.

    @mattshotcha @ShiftySamurai @wes I want to say the stream was awesome guys. That type of community interaction is something a lot of people have inquired about a while. I hope it gets people interested in this game again. As for the patch, it should make gameplay more challenging again. Bring that fear of Jason back that we missed all too much. I hope you guys get to bottom of the car collission issue and players falling under the map, especially on Packanack small.

    @DasMurich I 100% agree with the weapon damage arc. I disagree with the no stuns while in rage. Reducing the chance of being stunned would have been fine. Completely removing it is a bad idea to me.

    Nothing stuns him. Pocket knives still force him to drop you and that animation runs while he pulls it out. But once raged basically nothing will stun him. He can still be killed, it doesn't effect that sequence. I think it's great. If players want to just beat on him it'll be at their own peril. His weapon swing will now hit multiple counselors as well. So if they group up everyone he hits is taking damage, not just the first one it connects with. And I just realized when you hit rage and are chasing those last couple counselors you'll be able to just rage through the doors and walls without constantly being stunned by them waiting there with a wrench.

    Holy shit I was actually right! Once Jason is enraged the only thing that can stun him is shotguns, the sweater, or bear traps!

    On the whole, I like buffing Jason. No one can deny that it’s weird to see counselors shake off repeated hits from Jason while a tiny teen with a stick can stun Jason pretty consistently. Even Part IX gets stunned most of the time, despite having Stun Resistance as a strength. That said, this may go a bit too far in the opposite direction. We’ll have to see how this shakes out, but I imagine the net effect will be shorter matches. The counselors will finish within 10 minutes (still very do-able), or they will be screwed. We will see far, far fewer matches go all 20 minutes. Silver lining: 6 people who died or escaped won’t have to wait several minutes more for Jason to chase the seventh cabin-to-cabin as the counselor stuns Jason after he rages through countless doors and walls (nor will Jason have to resort to using combat stance instead of rage to prevents the door/wall stuns, which allows counselors to regain stamina/get more weapons and items, further prolonging things). I did kind of enjoy waiting on the other side of those doors and walls, though...

    I can see how not being able to use the fire crackers and flare gun during a chase could be frustrating and I wouldn’t care if the developers put those two items back in as items that could still stun Jason in Rage mode. you can still kite Jason without them though...... He definitely is not balanced now... the game has been nerfed in a way that it is pro counselors and incredibly easy for them to escape/ kill / and Troll Jason. and when you get a chance take a look at the Jason is weak thread in the suggestion section it may help enlighten you on how weak/ trash Jasons gameplay mechanics are and have become. also if you think one change to Jasons Rage mode is going to ruin counselors gameplay you must be a garbage counselor player lol!

    I play the game on 99% of the time PS4 but do have it on Xbox, I think you are greatly exaggerating, Jason is Pathetic on ALL platforms , if you think this will be game breaking , I take it you never played this game at launch, where Jason wasn’t a piñata and you actually had to work with a group of people to survive, it much to easy for counselors which is the main reason why most people have moved on from this game, this game was initially designed for counselors to die more than live, this game is upside down and has been for a long time.

    If you're using a controller, press X on Xbox to handbrake turn and square I assume on PS4. I think you can do it or nearly do it without speed demon or lead foot, but I always use lead foot on my escape characters

    As a backer who still plays this game, and still remembers how fun it was to be Jason before the series of nerfs(almost every single patch) I welcome any change forward , not being able to,stun Jason in rage is going to help Jason the most, although it would have been nice for the counselors to find out the hard way, regardless I’ll take it. Thanks for the work, I’m looking forward to seeing how it works out tomorrow . Hit detection is and always has been aweful for Jason , while counselors don’t even have to swing in Jason’s direction and still stun him, your complant about not being able to hit Jason will fall on deaf ears because 99.9% Counselors have much better hit detection on Jason , it’s always been that way.

    Since it’s a slow time on the forums,I think I’ll start one of these up. Which Jason has the best theme/nearby music?(As in the music that plays when he’s near you.) i prefer Part 9’s or Retro Jasons electronic sounding one,but let my know yours.

    New strategy: Don’t waste those shotguns. Save them for later in the game. Don’t make him enter rage faster than he has to. This is going to piss all of the right people off. I love it!

    Both... but what happens when they have a mid air collision? An interdimensional portal to Sweden opens... which is also where I think I left my other shoe.

    These are some good changes. I think the problem is even Jason though can block as many like to talk about. He's much slower when blocking and can't catch counselors, so this is why blocking doesn't help nearly as much as they just run away from him if he's blocking. I do wish they addressed more of the early/mid game issues, especially on those awful small maps. That said, on the surface, this is really only ONE CHANGE. It seems like they are too scared to make more than one really significant change. As it is, they basically shot down Jason knowing where the Tommy radio is except by sight, so we know that's not going to happen. So Jason can't be stunned by melee in rage, but if he can still be stun locked until rage and he's still dealing with a mostly full lobby. Unless the sweater girl is dead or Tommy is dead or hasn't been called, he's still actually pretty vulnerable to death. So it remains to be seen if this balance change is as big as they talked about or merely small band aid against trolling and kill squads.

    I'm looking forward to the patch notes to see what bugs and glitches are fixed. They discussed some, but there are a lot of things that there was not time to discuss.

    I'm pretty excited about these changes. It will be interesting to see what real-world effect they have, though. It may not have much impact on the early game.

    Interestingly there was a concern that teamers will deliberately target Jason to enrage him, this was dismissed as ineffective because weapons break. Then, during the game play session the same staffer remarked that QA purposefully wailed on Jason to enrage him... what? So why won't teamers be loving this again?

    If they're very close but just out of grab range, tap L1 to quick-toss a throwing knife into their back, then hit L2 to grab. The TK will momentarily interrupt their movement and give you a split-second window to grab them. Make it count though because if you miss they're going to clobber your ass. Edit: If you can time it just right, this might work too:

    I’m not the best player, but what I try to do is to wear down their stamina to force them to take a swing. Because in my experience the first one to take a swing (or grab) loses.

    I have some theories on that issue. 1. The helpers are like guide dogs for Jason. 2. Jason has possessed the counselors in some way and is working his agenda through them. 3. Jason has mastered necromancy, and has revived slain counselors to do his bidding. Regardless of which is the case, the overall outcome sucks.

    It must not be the same player, they have multiplied since ... I always kill myself to be a spectator when I know that Jason is cheating. Sometimes it's funny when he can not catch the players despite his hack.
