Particularly a minority whose meta is fairly obvious (though they espouse it as having come from expertise) and yet completely optional and not required for success. You have someone claim Sucker Punch is a must have, discounting the fact everytime they smacked Jason with a bat and pissed him off he tunneled them out of the game. Had they used a Sense Avoidance perk and not been detected to begin with that wouldn't have happened and they would have survived. Sense spam only matters when Jason has a reason to do it. Jasons don't stand around spamming sense over and over to outplay perks. It doesn't work like that. If I hit sense and notice a building red and have a ways to walk to it i'd turn off sense until I approached the building then turn it on again upon arrival to ensure the person was still in it. I've never once sat around flickering Sense in hopes of catching a perk user because the clock works against me. I would almost guarantee a Sense Avoidance success would put a timer on being detected by Sense just for that reason. From all my time playing i've never had a situation that made me think otherwise. I chalk it up to the Dunning-Kruger effect. People think themselves better than they are and when something fails them they believe it was because of the perk and not their inability to use it effectively. Most of the perks considered meta require no latent talent to use and are fairly straightforward. But that doesn't make them the best, only easier for less skilled players.

I voted other. If you need the reason why, you need to look no further than this thread - Killing Jason with minimal / no combat required This is the state the game has reached. Jason kill speedruns with low risk / low effort. This should be your biggest concern right now.

I decided to move discussion regarding my overhaul ideas into a new thread. I feel like the last thread carries too much baggage from previous discussions. This time, I have a special treat; I have taken the time to create stat screens to go along with my overhaul idea. Enjoy and discuss. Just for fun I am adding some non-canon Jasons. CHANGES Grip Strength: Upon escaping from Jason' grip via breaking free or with a pocket knife, damage is inflicted onto the counselor. No further damage is applied below 10% counselor health, to prevent the case that a counselor would die after breaking free. -Grip Strength: As it is now, inflicts no damage. Normal Grip: 7% damage, aka 7/100 points of damage. +Grip Strength: 14% damage, aka 14/100 points of damage. Stalk: Counselors will not scream in terror when Stalk is active. Note: Stalk as it currently stands in the game lasts 20 seconds while moving for any Jason, regardless of movement speed or if it is a strength or weakness. -Stalk: No additional changes, functions the same as it does currently in every way. Normal Stalk: While Stalk is active, counselors must within 50 meters of Jason in order for his minimap icon to appear. Duration while moving is 25 seconds. +Stalk: While Stalk is active, Jason's minimap icon never appears, except when spotted by flares and when a car's headlights shine on him. Opening unlocked doors is silent(no door opening sound effect). Duration while moving is 30 seconds. Sense: When Sense is toggled off, it fully depletes, as is the case with Stalk. Stunning Jason temporarily disables the ability to detect sound pings for the duration of the stun and for 15 seconds following it. Stun Resistance: Jason gets stun immunity for about 3 seconds when the player regains control of Jason after a stun ends. With each stun, resistance rises by a small percentage. After 10 stuns, all Jasons' stun times are permanently 15% shorter. The next melee stun that occurs within 8 seconds after a previous stun has ended will be 30% shorter than a standard stun. Shotguns and flares are exempt from this stipulation. Shift: The disproportionate difference between the speed and distance of the different levels of Shift are made to be uniform. Normal Shift is now about that of current J5(Roy) for all Jasons with normal Shift, since J5 has a slightly shorter distance than that of J3 or J8. Throwing Knives: Added -Throwing Knives, bringing the throwing knife count to the following: -Throwing Knives: Spawn with zero knives. Normal Throwing Knives: Spawn with two knives. +Throwing Knives: Spawn with six knives. Traps: Can pick up traps that have not been triggered and place them again. Can place a trap in the spot of a previously triggered trap, no longer blocked by the previous one's collision box. New Strength, Fear: Counselor fear raises twice as fast and takes 50% longer to recover from fear effects. Alternatively, the fear accumulation rate is 50% faster and takes 25% longer to recover, while the stamina penalty is twice as potent. New Strength, Rage: As a baseline change for all Jasons, the door/wall Rage walk-through animation is removed. Just walk/run through doors, walls, and fences once Rage is attained. Attacks against Jason and pocket knives used to escape grabs fill the Rage meter faster than normal. In addition to higher fear causing counsilors to use more stamina to sprint and regain less fast, a third effect would take place ONLY when the player is within 10 or more meters of Jason if their fear is Maxxed out. If the counsilor continues to remain within this range of Jason for 30 or more seconds they will be "frozen in fear" what this does is prevent them from striking at Jason becuase they are so terrified of him at the moment that they can't lift their weapon aginst him. This debuff remains in effect for 10 seconds regardless of their distance to Jason.(this is to prevent players from running in and out of the debuff proximity) Once the effect ends, the counsilor must stay out this 10meter range until they can at least see their mini-map(it doesn't even have to be fully faded in) or they will be hit with the debuff again instantly. All non-malee items can still be used while under the "Frozen In Fear" effect. (Flare guns can still be used) Tommy Jarvis is immune to this effect. The also effect disappears the moment a player uses the sweater on Jason. This suggested addition to the fear mechanic should make Jason more intimidating and make bullying Jason a thing of the past!

I love setting traps for Jason, sometimes I set one ten to fifteen feet in front of the car I plan on taking. You'd be surprised how many good Jason's walk right into it when they hear me honking the horn. The double door trap also seems to deter a newer Jason from wanting to chase you. He hits two traps, while your calm as can be, until he's in the second one, then by the time he makes it out the door your already in the next cabin. If you have a third trap, you wait for Jason to come to the door then set it, so he hears the sound of doom. Bye, bye Jason.

Yes this thread isn't hard to miss anymore! Must be the longest running/most viewed thread made by the community. We all have to thank @Barbara Ann for starting the Mean Girl topic.

This is honestly a bad idea. This will simply remove any means of counselors defenses and will impact anyone within the proximity regardless if they are in a cabin or out and will also remove any ability to rescue people that were grabbed by jason or even impact the whole killing him. Jason is already powerful enough as it is, all this would to is add another useless feature and cause more people to complain. They better fix the current issues to the best of their extent before attempting to add anything or should i say break anything new.

I enjoy spawning at the phone house to start the game. Especially if it's a three trap Jason. Because he's wasting a trap if he places one there. With no shift yet, while Jason is breaking the door down, I'm tanking, spraying, and running away.

We can't keep having changes because a player sees every aspect of the game as "unfair". Players are randomly spawned around the map and I'm certain that you do not spawn in the "phone house" every time you play. It may feel that way, but it's simply not true. Also, just because you spawn there does not mean you have to stay there. Try running to a different cabin. And "most Jason's" are not asses because they go for a kill. I'm not sure you get this but Jason is SUPPOSED to go for the kill. That's the entire premise of the game. It's not a game where the councilors are supposed to survive.......... It's a game where councilors are supposed to TRY to survive and if they are skilled (or lucky) they do. Not everyone is supposed to escape. We are supposed to be fans of the franchise who enjoy seeing Jason kill these councilors, even if it is us being killed.

couldn‘t agree more, totally understandable. every one else would have acted the same way. For sure. Yeah

It always feels like we need more and more counselors in the game because there were a bunch in the movies. I always wanted Megan as a character in the game, she would fit perfect because she helped Tommy kill Jason in Jason Lives the movie. I would love to hear they're working on her after dedicated servers and Paranoia (if they continue with that game mode). Appropriate Stats: Composure: 4/10 ( was struggling with Jason for approximately one minute when rescuing Tommy) Luck: 3/10 (Was never seen stunning Jason but she did cut his neck with a propeller in the water) Repair: 4/10 (Had a car and turned on the motor boat to cut Jason) Speed: 8/10 Stamina: 6/10 Stealth: 7/10 Strength: 3/10 Appearance: Skin color: White (a little tan) Hair color: Blonde Eye color: Brown Lip color: Bright Pink Clothes: Crystal earrings with white necklace and a black t-shirt with black jeans and white heels ( there is no female counselor with heels yet)

Where is my brethren that understand the sanctity of these blessed obstacles of evil? And that evil is Jason. This wretched deviant has dark powers that allow him to seemingly disappear and reappear after covering considerable ground. Out in the wild you are in danger. Fear not though as the beast cannot enter windows for some reason we've yet to ascertain. This means he must go through doors. These mythical doors dispel whatever dark magics he is employing and force him to show himself. Now there are many guardians that use their powers of good to fight him through doors, though the evil one can counter doing the same. I commend these brave souls putting up the good fight. Some may even trap behind the door to catch Jason off guard. The problem with this is that the sly devil may know your scheme and use this "shifting" ability of his to possibly turn your well intentioned trap against you. What I do, to truly try and preserve our most Holy doors is to trap the front of it. This will make the heinous monster have no choice but to step in the trap if he wants to desecrate your bastion of defense.

I actually do this all time. We get a full lobby of friends in party chat, and must communicate without letting the Jason player (also in party chat) know what we're doing. It's a good challenge actually. I'm so used it, it isn't even a problem. You just have to get creative with how you communicate. You can just as well trick the Jason player into making the wrong decision too, so it's an additional strategy basically. Why do we do it? Because you can potentially go through a match without even finding a walkie for a long time. It's always when you need it that you just can't find it. And it's definitely not worth the perk slot to start with one.

That's pretty much what I'm aiming at. Astronaut Tommy is a funny image to me (as is Hanson's idea of the Jetson spaceship), but really it's just to have some more futuristic clothes than jeans and sweatshirts. No big deal if not, but it'd be good option for those (like me) that would enjoy occasionally playing to a theme.

(Hey guys, I know I'm late for the party, but if you'll let me, I'd like to join in too.) So, you've been spawning in that phone house and Jason's making you the first course in his slaughter buffet? Well, fear no more! Here is a user friendly guide on how to not get rekt by Jason in the first two minutes of the game. -Yay, you spawned! Such a glorious thing to be alive! -Get inside that cabin and close the door after you. Don't bar doors or open windows. Take a moment to prance around and get your bearings. -You spawned in the phone house, didn't you? -Well, look for the nearest hiding spot. Close the doors behind you, it's rude to leave them open. Dive under that bed and wait for Jason to finish his trapping/crashing ritual. -Seriously, if you hide before he morphs to the house the only way he'll know you're there is if he walks in front of your hiding spot. Don't hold your breath though, that's a stupid thing to do, and stupid people die in this game. You don't want to die, yes? -Oh no, he morphed before you had time to hide. Friggin' leg it man. Or hide anyway if you're playing a character with high stealth in hopes that he didn't see a sound ping. -Seriously, he only gets Sense by the 0:45 mark. If you didn't do anything to give yourself away, just stay cool and he'll go bother someone else. -Yay, he's gone to mind his own business elsewhere. Now's the time to jump out of your hiding place, let the whole world know where the phone house is and go about looting stuff. See, that wasn't so bad, was it? -Or, if you're feeling mean, go outside, step on his friggin' trap and picture the look of dismay in that Jason player's face, as he panics about his trap being sprung right after he morphed away. That's enough to break a man's heart, isn't it? Then hide, wait for him to retrap the phone and go away, and after that trip the trap again. Clearly he wasn't gonna need those traps, am I right? Controversely, you may also do this: -Don't give a fuck. -Go about your business as usual. -Oh look, it's the phone house. -*nsert come at me bro meme here* -He's coming for you. -Run like the wind. -Avoid throwing knives. -Make Jason chase you for two minutes while the rest of the lobby fixes both cars and washes Pamela's sweater because who the hell would even wear that gross thing? Yuck! -No one fixed anything while you were giving Jason the Benny Hill treatment. That probably means you were screwed anyway, so just sit back and watch Jason murder the living crap out of those idiots. -Or don't run away if you don't want to. That's your house and you should not be forced to leave it! Instead, loop Jason around some furniture. -What's that you say? Furniture looping is a low blow? Well then, how about you don't come inside my house, break my doors down and try to murder me before a freaking minute has even passed? -Watch as tears streak down Jason's face if he's a walker and you're Vanessa. -You'll still have to dodge those knives tho. -Pay close attention to that Kikiki Mamama at 2:15. Jason's shift finger will be itching by the time the ability has finished charging. -In the end you were forced out of your house anyway. but hopefully someone will have done something by now. -Jason gave you the Dark Souls treatment, but that's okay, you can still come back as Tommy Jarvis. Also, he's probably feeling very stupid right now for tunneling you and letting everyone else do whatever they wanted. And remember, the most important is to have fun.

Yeah, I'd really like some space-y outfits for the Grendal map pack. They could do some inspired by the Jason X styles. It'd just be a fun little addition to let you play that level to a theme. Though I'd probably bust a gut laughing if Tommy came to the rescue in an astronaut outfit. Big bubble helmet and all.

As I'm sure plenty of people have said, just hide. It's not that big of a deal and it's a huge benefit knowing where the fusebox is right off the bat.

Wish I had a warm cup of cocoa to hand you sir. Keep your head. Like most communities in online gaming, it's full of mouth-breathers, racists and douche bags(oh my!) But it also has some great horror fans and fun people to play with.

Another solution would be changing the color of the car icon. Make the blue car a blue icon and the yellow car a yellow icon. It would make the traps on the map easier to see as well as give Jason an idea of which objective to trap first at the beginning of the round.

Hello and welcome to the forums and may I ask who is your favourite character in the game? And should I call you king or chal oux or maybe 802
