    @GunMedia_Ben I actually agree with a lot of what you said in this topic. You have extremely valid points. Especially with a group of Counselors with weapons, simply blocking as Jason will deteriorate their weapons fast anf you can pick off stragglers as they scatter weaponless. That's my go to strategy when car is going and I stop it and they're all trying to fight me to get a stun and get back in. I just stand in front of the driver door and block and throw knives until they give up and scatter. Anyway, I did want to stress though that despite agreeing with a lot of what you said, the other side has some validity as well. While it's true there are hundreds of different players with varying playstyles, the current build definitely does favor Counselors. If you're reading data and seeing only 30% fighting Jason as opposed to 70% not fighting Jason that is because you're using biased data. What I mean is, the majority of a playerbase for any game is always going to be the casual player, not the hardcore crowd. The casual player's skill level is on majority low to average at best. Using data of the majority of your casual player base not fighting Jason solely because they lack the knowledge or skill to do so is using biased data to say there isn't a problem and balance is fine. I'm not saying you should balance the game fully to the hardcore crowd. I'm merely pointing out that the hardcore crowd which WON'T be your majority of players actually are your best source of data on how balanced or broken your game is because they actually understand the game and utilize it to it's full advantages unlike the casuals. And amongst the hardcore players, fighting Jason is definitely the meta right now. Counselors definitely can bully Jason and his current attack and grab hit boxes make it very difficult to effectively punish mistakes. Jason doesn't meed strerch armstrong grab range but he doesn't need trex arms either. And more importantly than that, his weapons not connecting 80% of the time just really hurts him. Add in that the majority of matches with good counselors now are Jason laying a trap, Morphing away only to immediately hear the trap go off followed by the same exact thing the second he morphs back. Before the previous patch you had to deal with 3 objectives being pushed at once at times but not nearly as often or as fast as they are now. Jason can quite often be dealing with 3 objectives being pushed at once before he even gets Shift. And Counselors main strategy is just that, tank traps and brute force objectives by gang stunlocking Jason while someone gets objective going and all the while teabag and dance on Jason everytime he falls. I'm not saying it's impossible to win as Jason. A good Jason can still 8/8 the group. The point is that Jason has to actually work 10 times harder than any single counselor to do it, and a good jason can still be made a fool by inability to punish mistakes due to constant whiffing attacks and grabs even when you're directly on top of a limping counselor who uses your whiffs to heal and flee and start window hopping through broken windows again with their thick skin and medic. And trust me, i'm not a Jason main complaining. I actually enjoy playing both Jason and Counselor which is why i have my pref set to no pref. And I do all of the above as a Counselor myself. But as both a Jason and Counselor player since launch I can tell you with certainty it is currently a lot harder on Jason and a lot easier as a counselor. I don't fear Jason anymore, i actively take him on all the time as do near every one of the dozens of people I play with. And when Jason is meant to be OP in a 7 vs 1 scenario, it's not good when the OP char needs to work HARDER than the 7 to win the match. Love the game and all the hard work you guys put into it. Just wanted to point out that I don't think you guys realize how skewed the current balance is. Also i see you guys note p7 having attack issues (although it's every Jason not just him) but don't see you guys acknowledge that P7 is actually really underbalanced and is hands down the worst Jason to play which is universally agreed upon by the community. Playing P7 is like playing "Nightmare" difficulty. Can you kill as him? Sure. But it requires SO much more effort and work than any other Jason and there's still so much room for failure because he just doesn't have the chops to effectively control ANYTHING in a match other than a boat escape.     It’s Friday Slashers & Counselors. We’re close to releasing the next update for Friday the 13th: The Game, and we have a lot of information to share with you today. Offline Bots: Maybe you hate playing online with people. Maybe you want to learn the lay of the land in all the maps. Maybe you just want to practice laying waste to scores of counselors. No matter the why of your situation, today I am happy to announce that the next update of Friday the 13th: The Game will include offline bots. To access this new feature, you’ll want to select the new “Offline Play” menu item, and then “Offline Bots”. Next up you’ll want to select the map you want to play on, and select your preferred counselor punishing Jason. Finally, you will be able to select how difficult the bots you play against will be from the 3 difficulty levels included in the update – Easy, Normal, and Hard. The higher the difficulty you choose, the longer counselors will remember you being in the area, the more likely they are to fight you, the quicker they are to react to your presence, the quicker they are to exit hiding spaces when you leave, and the more likely they are to use Medical Sprays smartly. They’ll fix cars, boats, hide in closets, under beds, in sleeping bags, barricade doors, and more to keep you from making them into another victim. Feel like honing your single prey hunting skills? You’ll be able to select from 1 to 7 counselors in your offline game to ensure that you are playing against exactly how many counselors you want to stalk. Max Level Increase: Today I’m excited to talk about one of the new changes coming with our next update; an increase in max player level from 101 to 150. This increase won’t just be a number that keeps getting higher as you play more and earn XP. There are some cool things that you will unlock along the way, and we’re going to talk about a few of those right now. New for Counselors: More clothing coloring options for Mitch, Fox… and a couple more counselors that we aren’t ready to speak about, yet… allowing you to stand out from the other prey in the match.     Perhaps a middle ground solution is in order. The friendly fire was taken away because of trolls, and probably should stay gone except for private lobbies who want to allow it. But here is a possible solution for public lobbies: 1. Friendly fire activates within 5m of Jason for any counselor at a Fear level above 0. 2. This would mean groups very close to Jason would risk hitting each other if their Fear level was in any of the higher stages. It would also prevent a random Tommy or whatnot from showing up, as an example, and offing someone with a shotgun. They would have to be at a Fear level higher than stage 1 AND inside the 5m activation radius. 3. 5m is about 16 feet for those who don't know, or roughly the length of one of the cars. That would provide an adequate radius to allow friendly fire and put anyone trying to troll other players in close threat range to Jason. If you decide to troll somebody, you can't do it on some far flung corner of a map. 4. The FF threat radius would also make legit players trying to fight back against Jason, not trolling others, consider carefully how they fight and their Fear level when doing so. Just an idea.

    Pocket Knives wouldn't bother me as much if melee were fixed/not bugged/longer range/weapon strength were rehauled for Jason to negate the effects of all the perks designed to keep counselors the tanks they are. Example + Weapon Strength = One melee strike equals limp, the second equals death...no matter the perk, it nullifies all thick skin...heal or die Neutral Weapon Strength = 3 Strikes kills a counselor, 2 causes the limp, HOWEVER a good thick skin will allow for 4 melee strikes, 3 before limp In the past, I've pushed for a negative weapon strength Jason. Namely NES Jason if he had this... + Can Run + Morph + Shift - Destruction - Weapon Strength - Traps, Stalk Or Sense But if the game is going to stay the way it is now with all the tanking/melee bugs/pocket knives. I'm not so sure any Jason with negative weapon strength would be used at all...even if they had the best mobility.

    It would be great if he had something like this for people who always try to ride up his ass all the time with melee weapons A 190/360 turnaround melee strike. Besides the multi kill option of course, but lets fix melee first and I agree, combat stance is garbage. It'll be interesting to see if they made the bots with different hitboxes in mind.

    Jason is bound, or locked into, lengthy animations no matter what he does and is almost always vulnerable because of it. Examples: If Jason grabs a counselor, he can be stunned while doing so and enter a second animation of him being stuned Breaking down a door, Jason can be stunned immediately after the door breaks because he has to follow through with the animation- again locking him in a stunned animation This is why Jason's melee strikes are so important and why Jason is more or less screwed at close range lately: Jason is easily stunned and far from deadly if you're near him. There are no guaranteed kills with a grab due to being stunned. The only way to ensure a kill is to melee strike and Jason's hit detection is horrendous right now, making the task's success based more on luck than skill. There are Jason's who can't hit a crouching counselor. Combat stance for Jason should be removed and he should be able to block at any time. Jason should always be deadly at close range and it should always be a risk to attempt to combat Jason. Jason needs to be able to reliably hit a counselor going through a window. The invisible barrier needs to be removed. Stun times should be shortened for Jason when a counselor uses a pocketknife or is freed by another counselor. Firecrackers should not be able to interrupt a grab (once Jason is holding the counselor). I'm not saying these are all great ideas but something needs to be done- particularly to allow Jason to effectively defend himself at close range. Stun times are too lengthy and there is no penalty for counselors gaining up on Jason. The most important change, other than fixing his broken grab, is making his melee strikes actually do what they're supposed to do. If you agree or disagree, feel free to say so.     Sorry, but that would make (+)Weapon Strength stat useful for once. No one cares about weapon strength Jasons because counselors use weapons just for Stuns. This, together with hit detection, can be fixed/buffed. And med sprays would be used more carefully and make people FEAR Jason. Isn't this what the majority of the forum members here want?

    lol...February. If they wait that long, no one will be left playing. I'll admit though, I've been able to negate the shitty grab by playing as J3 and doing Shift slashes instead of Shift grabs. I just rarely bother with grabbing anymore. Pisses off the counselors pretty bad. It's funny when you chop someone down and see them drop 2 pocket knives. Their blood must boil.

    I’m genuinely not at all excited about Shelley. Just meh. I guess it’s nice for the guy who played him, since he’s a fan. But that’s all. The more I think about it, the more I’d rather that they create new characters than bring in canon characters from the game. It’s like bunny suit Deborah, it takes me out of the game. Seeing a lobby of Foxes and Shelly’s doesn’t enhance the game for me. If they want to create homages to classic characters, I’d rather they go the way of Mitch who is clearly based on Chuck but is his own character with his own stats.

    I wish people would stop comparing Lachappa to Shelly. They represent two entirely different tropes. Eric is the nerd, and Shelly is the class clown. And no one can say "But Deborah is the nerd". She's the bookish girl, and parallels Eric as a female counterpart with some similarities (which is also the case with AJ and Adam, who are also male and female versions of a similar archetype.) If anything, Shelly needs high stealth. His character crept around and waited to scare the other characters more than once, so that is a must. I wouldn't say his repair would be good, as class clowns typically aren't considered synonymous with fixing things. The rest of the stats could go many different ways.

    That's all fine and dandy. But noticing the lack of the stereo, screwdriver etc etc, this was before the October patch. J7 was one of the more difficult Jasons to play, but you could still wipe a room with him. I also don't see any "force" grabs happening here. But I also don't see him whiffing through their heads. The grab was normal, like it was before they nerfed it.

    Tiffany Cox – Counselor Overview What can you say? Every 80’s horror movie needs its eye candy. If her shorts were any shorter, the surprise would be out after the first window hop. Let’s look at the flirty girl. Composure: 3 Luck: 4 Repair: 1 Speed: 6 Stamina: 9 Stealth: 10 Strength: 2 Pushing Advantages: Tiffany has superior Stealth. She is good for not generating noise pings. Stealth is a marginally useful stat since it is generally only helpful in the early game before Jason’s Sense range expands and if the Stealth character can take advantage of working an objective while he is farther away. Take advantage of the first 5-8 minutes of a match to bring parts where they need to go quickly and quietly. Endurance with Tiff is not a problem. The plentiful pool of Stamina means that she can run the distance even if she won’t be doing it at Vanessa speeds. The huge Stamina pool is also good in regards to other Stamina burning actions such as combat. I also suspect that huge Stamina pool made her popular with the guys at the camp… Her Speed is slightly better than average, but more than enough to make her effective at opening up distance and bringing items where they need to go reasonably fast. Mitigating Weaknesses: Tiffany has really bad Strength, Repair, and Composure. She won’t be good for de-masking, fixing anything short of a broken nail, and she’ll panic quite quickly. Not Chad bad, but it is a concern. Focus on doing what she does best. Run parts and items where they need to go. Do this fast in the early part of the game when her Stealth is the most useful. Support fixer characters by watching their backs. Kite Jason away if need be, but like Chad, break contact fast and find a place to regain your Composure. Her Luck is not great. Bad Luck combined with bad Strength means she best leaves fighting to other characters unless she is breaking a friend out of a grab. Evade and deliver. It is what she does best. Basic Strategy: 1. Run parts where they need to go early in the match. Take advantage of Stealth while it is useful in those early minutes. 2. Mitigate her bad Composure with Sense avoidance perks. In the late game, her massive Stamina will be helpful, but even Tiff can get worn down while Jason is hot on her heels. High Fear will devastate your Stamina regeneration, so it is best to not be noticed by Sense as much as possible. Keep your flashlight on when Jason is not around to help keep Fear under control. 3. Run at least one perk to help her Stamina. It is her strongest point; despite Stealth being higher. 4. Fight if you have to, but I’d advise against it. 5. Outside your role as a FedEx driver, I’d suggest you find niche things to do to assist the team once the match progresses and your Stealth is not as useful. Make the phone call with My Dad’s a Cop. Fix (rather attempt it and fail) power generators to distract Jason. Tank traps, heal, and vanish quickly. Bring weapons/items to objectives so other characters can pick them up to fight if pushing the objective hard. Go get the sweater at an opportune time. Top 10 Suggested Perk Choices (no particular order of significance): 1. Level Headed 2. Low Profile 3. My Dad’s a Cop 4. Medic 5. Thick Skinned 6. Homebody 7. Restful 8. Marathon 9. Nerves of Steel 10. Lone Wolf **This is by no means a definitive way to play Tiffany, but it can get you started on an effective set-up and allow you to figure out your own playstyle.     Yup, that's her in a nutshell. Tiff is not a new player friendly character (IMO), but she is a pain in the hands of a crafty and innovative player who can anticipate Jason AND undermine his efforts consistently. You need to know what you are doing and be able to think fast, on the fly, and find little ways to always be helping the team. As you noted, Preparedness is a very handy perk as well. Situational awareness is essential to using her effectively; probably more so than many other counselors.

    What Dead By Daylight does to score its killers has no place here. the issues that most people have with Jason gameplay are not about viewing 3/8 or 4/8 as a loss it’s about quality of life gameplay issues if these stats are the best a Jason player can get because counselors out played with skill that would be one thing. ( this however is not the case glitches and bugs in the mechanics in game are also a factor here, Jason players have to battle against whilst doing there thing.) but you continually argue “that these mechanics were all there in the beginning what’s the problem with them now?” Yet you never acknowledge that the gradual nerfs to Jason’s gameplay (windows, block counter strike, trap stacking, stun times/ duration, stun chance and grab) have not changed the way the game has been played for the past 4 months these nerfs, I call them counselor buffs have reshaped the game into the game it is today Jason no longer a threat 7 vs 1 A perfectly balanced game will never work 7 vs 1....the 1 must be over powered. The balance can’t be equal other wise you would be playing counselors vs counselor... no threat no point to play. And for you to post that the Fans came up incredibly short of what the developers wanted is asinine, I backed this game nearly 3 years ago when all they were asking for was 700,000 to get this amazing idea of a game made, anything else would go to stretch goals to make the game even better then they and us ever hoped it could be, none of the stretch goals were a guarantee and were not ever promised to be included and then things changed more funds were found/ made to make the game even bigger than originally planned and it is because of the fans that we even are on this message board discussing it, saying we came up short and this is what we get for the money we put in is just a very narrow minded opinion of the situation at hand. The mechanics of the game should work properly stretched goals made or not.

    I feel that Nerves of Steel is undervalued. When asking other player or reading post of perk choice, many leave NoS off. Keeping the mini-map at all times is invaluable, especially if your counselor has low composure and you're expected to be around Jason often.

    It falls on deaf ears. For some reason they are in the mindset that when people scream "Jason is too OP" everything has to change. They never considered that maybe counselor players were frustrated that they weren't escaping as often as they "liked" or as easily as they'd like. But when people flat out EXPLAIN everything wrong with Jason and how he's a joke now. We get "you're frustrated because you're not killing people as quickly as you'd like." This shows where they are at. So it's all good. Just stop playing. Eventually these counselor priority players won't have a Jason to dance around or teabag. I really think it's going to have to come for that for the devs to wake up. Just quit every game that you're chosen to be Jason. Refuse to play as Jason until all of quick play is unplayable because you won't get a game. Maybe THEN they'll wake the fuck up. Sad that it takes so much to show them how badly they fucked Jason, but all it took was "Wahhh Wahhh, I can't escape, Jason is too OP!" for them to ruin the game.

    I think some people forget that without Jason, there is no game. Having the game competitively balanced benefits all players and as it stands, the balance is heavily weighted towards counselors. Gun stated Jason is meant to be overpowered. Jason is currently underpowered. I think this whole thing stems from spectating to be honest. People hate that they have to spectate so they gave counselors more options to extend the game but in doing so, they destroyed the balance instead of fixing the actual probelm: spectating. Folks should be able to leave when they die and join a new lobby immediately without penalty.

    Week 10: TALK TO ME GOOSE! Effective communication. It is very easy to have some pretty exciting matches in F13. When everything is working like clockwork, there is a real sense of accomplishment working as a finely honed team. Sure, you can go it alone in F13, and often this will be the case when opting to throw your hat in the Quick Play ring, but teaming up with others to work against Jason is so much more gratifying. I should note it is also gratifying to listen in on clueless counselors making plans as Jason... Basics of in-game communications: For those new to the game, F13 relies on proximity based chat. This means when you speak into your microphone, other players nearby can hear you, but those farther away will not. This also means that Jason can hear you talking when he is close by. If you find a walkie-talkie (or use the Psychic Perk to start with one), your voice will be transmitted to everyone that also has a walkie-talkie all over the map in addition to those nearby who can hear you. Simple Advice: 1. Talk only when you need to or casually. Since everyone is sharing the “same channel” so to speak, it is very hard to sort out who has what, and what is happening if everyone talks over each other. 2. Please be concise when giving information. Saying, “Jason is over here!” is pretty useless unless you happen to be right next to the person. Use your map or mini-map to call out a general locality; “Hodder’s Pass”. At least this way, others can get a general idea of the area you are referring to. You can also use an established objective as a reference. 3. Call out objective locations. Tell others where to find the phone house, cars, and the boat. Don’t get killed off knowing valuable information and not tell people. it's not that others can't find out the information, but why make someone have to check twice to verify a location (like the phone house as an example). 4. Don’t discuss objectives being worked by counselors when Jason is nearby. Don’t announce you have the keys or phone fuse (it just makes Jason players hunt you more). Jason can see if you are carrying a big part so expect to get attacked anyways. With the item marking addition to the game, there is little reason to call out what items you have in your death throes. 5. Use the item marking mechanic. It you see a vehicle part or phone part. Pick it up. If there are more parts than you can carry, pick them all up, and carry what you can. At least the left behind parts will show up on the map. 6. If you are riding as a passenger in the car or boat, pull up your map. Help the driver if they need it. If you have the four-seat car going, you may be able to tell the driver which way they need to go to pick up other survivors and make a bigger escape. 7. Be courteous. There is no reason to slum to the level of toxic trolls. Keep your cool and move to a different lobby if need be. Remember that wrestling with pigs just gets both of you dirty and the pig likes it. I’m keeping today’s article rather brief. I’ve got quite the head-cold going and it has been rather persistent over the last few days. As always, best of luck and happy hunting.
