Same question.

I bet he might change his ways if he keeps getting trolled by a bunch of people.

Gonna go out on a limb and say Playstation though. Most of the lowest of the low gather there (no offense to anyone on PS4. You just have most of the dicks on your platform).

I rarely see any trolling on PC. It's definitely more common on consoles.

This has been on the kotaku topic since this morning.

I did not know this was already on that post. I was scrolling through reddit and saw this before checking the forums.

As a PS4 Player. I'm triggered! Kidding yeah I've notices but it's normally the micless players that team kill.

That picture doesn't even make sense.  If the trap went off and killed him, why is it still open and set?  Is he claiming he placed it, killed someone, ran over, reset the trap, then backed up and only then took the screenshot?  I think it's bogus.  And while I have grave concerns about the 'lets make the trolls invincible' fix to team-killing causing way more problems than it fixes, the one purported here doesn't even make my top ten list.

Teamkilling someone using this method requires so many steps as to be ridiculous.
1.  You have to find a trap
2.  You have to set the trap inside of a window
3.  You have to hope someone eventually goes through that specific window
4.  You have to hope that someone is already wounded so that the trap will kill them
5.  You have to hope they don't have Thick Skin, as even the new version will likely prevent the trap from killing you from the wounded state

I think the picture is staged and trolls with bear traps are about the least troublesome method of griefing you they could come up with.

I see your point but the person could have been badly injured and BAM killed. It's still something to watch out for. Windows will be bad to go through if people are placing traps down and you get caught in it and Jason is chasing you. It's gonna be a pain in the butt dealing with traps at windows.

Also, sometimes when you are running from Jason and you run in to a cabin or climb in, you aren't necessarily going to remember if you yourself trapped that particular one 5-10 minutes ago. How long will someone troll trap when it has almost as much chance of ruining their game as it does someone else's?

They could have been, yes.  But again, setting that up requires someone to either chase you around with the trap in hand, then get ahead of you and place it before you climb in a window, or place it totally randomly and hope that an injured person HAPPENS to climb through that precise window.  There are a lot of cabins, with a lot of windows, and not a lot of traps.  And they have to find the trap, then haul the trap around in plain sight and then place it somewhere they HOPE somebody is going to climb in and set it off.  Are there are a few spots you could target that might be more likely than others?  Sure, but again, this requires them to locate a trap, haul it across the map without stumbling across Jason (if you're assuming they're in cahoots that's yet another 'if' in an already shaky threat), get in there and place it before you've climbed in there and done whatever you needed to do - say, using the phone or something.

It's far less dangerous than them taking the car and going out of their way to try and run everybody over - and even that method is so involved to pull off that if it's in my top 10 list of troll worries, it's definitely not in the top 5.

I do agree who would wait by traps but I wasn't saying they would wait (Unlike the guy in the picture) Some will just start taking the bear traps and putting them by the windows. That right there just causes some people pain is all I'm saying. Just gotta watch out for windows.

I do agree with this. But all I'm saying is windows now hold a danger because now they can be placed by windows and injure you. That's really it. If you don't have thick skin your screwed to be injured. It's not a quick kill like the car.... that's the real issue we will be seeing.

I'm just saying: I have a relative, and she is constantly sharing those BS clickbait posts on Facebook.  "I have a brain tumor and nobody loves me.  I bet this post can't get 50,000 likes."  "Don't flash your headlights if you see a car at night with their lights off - it's a gang initiation and they will follow you home and kill you."  (That one was an old urban legend when I was a kid.)  "Most of you will scroll right past this post without even looking at it, but..."  It's noise.  It's clickbait.

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture up top.  It looks staged - MAYBE I would have bought it if the trap were snapped shut next to the body, but the fact that it's open and set makes it look staged as hell, because why would you go reset the trap before taking that screenshot?

I mean, great - if you want to 'be more careful' going through windows, ignoring the fact that you can't see what's on the other side of a window anyway, so what exactly is the point of sweating it, and ignoring the odds of the window you're climbing in being one where someone has placed one of the handful of traps in game, and ignoring the odds that you are already wounded when you set off said hypothetical trap...knock yourselves out, if it'll make you feel better.  But this method is so random and so convoluted, and so impossible to avoid if someone DOES decide to do it, that it's impossible for me to take the threat seriously.

Why would you place a trap inside a window and then sit there all game with your fingers crossed, when there are much more efficient and reliable ways to troll people?  It's like betting your entire revenge scheme on first winning the lottery so that you have the means to pull it off.

All windows are ALREADY a danger, if you want to look at it that way.  This is not a new threat, this is something that has been possible to do since literally day 1.  It's just become minutely more plausible once they ban team-killing, since they can no longer just run up and shotgun you.

Yeah, I've seen this a couple of times. It's fairly easy to miss a Jason trap if you aren't paying close attention to the ground. The player-laid traps are a little more noticeable. I know that in a tense situation, they can be overlooked, but I don't think they will present a huge problem. I think once friendly fire goes away, the cars will present a big problem. I know people say, "You can dodge a car" and "You can go inside". Well, you can dodge the shotgun blast too, and you can outfight someone who is trying to kill you with a melee weapon, or just run from them. My worry about the car is that assholes will lure people to them with the promise of escape, and then mow them down when they get close.

Like I've said numerous times, trolls are going to be trolls. Most are not the lazy scumbags that some people make them out to be. Yeah, they're scumbags, but they are inventive scumbags. I've watched the evolution of the online gaming troll for a couple of decades now. They enjoy finding new ways to ruin people's experience. It gives them some kind of sick pleasure that nothing else can give, except maybe scat porn. And let's not forget the assholes that Host-quit just to deny people experience points. I think that is a more severe problem. I sincerely believe that Host Migration would alleviate a lot more frustration than eliminating friendly fire in public matches will.

Windows have only been a danger if they are broken or Jason tosses you through them. If a window is open it's and not broke your butt is safe. If it's broke then you can get a but injured. Now add a bear trap to the mix. Team killers will use this to piss people off but it's not gonna be used as much as the car would be. That's why I'm not all that worried. I'll I'm showing is be careful of bear traps at windows when exploring.

My point is, you said, and I quote "windows now hold a danger."  You could ALREADY be killed by counselor traps, and those could ALREADY be placed on the floor just under a window, so how is this a NEW danger and not one that has existed all along?

I think his point is that the Trolls are looking for new ways to be dickheads. And this happens to be one that has come up.

Sure, and my point is this isn't a new way, it's an old way that's maybe, possibly, slightly more likely to be seen now, but still is so random as to be a pretty lousy way to troll.

Again this never held danger before. Only the door held dangers of the bear traps. This is new because it wasn't an issue when you could just oh I don't know just shoot players and hit them with weapons. Once that's gone this is their NEW way of killing. There wasn't a point in putting a bear trap at a window because you can just chase them hit them and kill them if they ran. Now bear traps at windows can annoy players. This is a new thing, it may have been a thing people could have done already but it's now being used in this way.
