Wow! Now that's a good topic! For me, some of the best would be...
1.) The George Romero series or pick ups of the "Living Deads" ie. "LAND OF THE DEAD", "DIARY OF THE DEAD", "SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD".
2.) "THE THING" prequel (not a series in itself, but a very well done prequel of a classic).
3.) The "Cloverfield" duo, a bit odd, but awesome.
4.) The "Saw" series was good.
5.) The "Wrong Turn" series was good, but started to falter.
6.) The "Masters of Horror" and "8 Films to Die For" series.
7.) The Universal Monster offerings of "Dracula Untold", and "The Wolfman".
8.) The "Descent" and "Hills have Eyes" series
9.) The Australian man vs nature films "Rogue" (my favorite horror film in decades), "Black Water" and "The Reef".

That's off the top of my head, now some of the worst...

1.) The "Twilight" series. Had some decent parts at times, but turned two legendary monsters into fairy tale wannabees.
2.) The "Pirahna" series, turned Joe Dantes classic into teeny porn with a 3d gimmick, though the first wasn't too bad.
3.) The "Halloween" series, should have been left alone till the master (John Carpenter) resumes interest. (Soon, very soon.) :)
4.) The "Hostel" and "Wolf Creek" series. Had so much potential, but resulted in gore porn.
5.) The remake series of "The Fog", "My Bloody Valentine", etc. Excluding a few, like "The Thing", "Friday the 13th 2009" (could have been better, but not too bad.), and those done with true love of the originals.

I love the wrong turn series but 4-6 sucked imo
Saw I only like 1 2 and 3

How dare you mention twighlight! That that abomination ruined the modern image of the vampire. When it used to be from 30 days of night (my favorite interpretation of vampires)

Hang on it seems your hinting at a new Halloween movie?
I'm personally interested in the Stephen king IT reboot

Ha! LOL! Yeah, I know Twilight was the doom of the night drinkers image.
My favorite interpretation of the vampire was Barlow and his brood from "Salem's Lot" 1979. My other ones are Jerry Dandridge from the original "Fright Night", and of course, Christopher Lee's infamous Hammer Count.

Indeed a new "Halloween" is on the drawing board, being helmed by none other than the legendary John Carpenter!!! ;)

Awesome!!
Though contrary to most I enjoyed Rob zombies remake I could see how someone could be pushed to that level with that shitty homelife ronnie was a douche I cheered when he died though I feel bad for Judith and her boyfriend. As well as that nice janitor who was actually nice to Michael.

That bullies death though old something about it made me flinch it was definitely overkill just brutal

The Hatchet trilogy was a fun throwback to earlier slasher paradigms.

- Joy Ride part 1
- Final Destination (all)
- Evil Dead (remake)

The Saw series is by my opinion best, and Paranormal activity is the worst
