It is a mistake to remove friendly-fire from the game. First off, let me tell you that I hate team killers. Whenever I encounter one, I block them from my Xbox, and report them for Unsportsmanlike behavior. If they are helping Jason, I submit a video of them doing so. These are the steps one should take.
As much as I hate it, to remove friendly-fire completely is really going to hurt the multiplayer experience. Everyone should be able to play the game they want to. Look at Minecraft. Your imagination is the only restriction in the game, really. I think the correct way to allow everyone to enjoy the game on their terms is to allow HOST rules. Let the host determine if friendly-fire is on. Let the host determine how many pocket knives and health spray are on the map. Let the host determine the highest level of Jason allowed to play. If players don’t like the way a game is set up, they never have to enter the menu.
I’m concerned about the smaller maps. I absolutely love the maps in this game: they have such great detail. I love that a game can take up to 20 minutes, even if I’ve died within the first 30 seconds. If I’m upset about it, I can always leave the game and miss out on the 500 completion points. The game is hard enough for counselors as is. I was lucky to play with roughly the same group of players for almost four games last night, and only one was able to escape Jason’s wrath during one game. Of course, the Jason’s being played were the most difficult ones, featuring increased grip strength and faster sense cooldowns.
I’ve been thinking about Roy and Pamela. I really want them in the game, but the main concerns are that it would be weird to use them with all the Jason senses. How about removing the senses all together? These sense-less killers could really work for the smaller maps. Maybe Roy or Pamela can be knocked out for longer. Maybe you give them improved running and hearing, so that they aren’t completely in the dark. They could pick-up and use all the weapons that the counselors can. They could drive their own vehicles (Pamela has a jeep, and Roy an ambulance) that nobody else can, cause they have the keys. And of course, they could be killed in a similar way to Jason, with certain events needing to be completed by the counselors beforehand. I’m envisioning a Pamela death scene with her head getting removed completely with the machete. It would be a super challenge to anyone playing them, and could be worth some major points or street creds to show of an achievement for 13 kills with either character.
